I could write a huge paper on this topic! We live in a culture that doesn't honor feelings and yes expects us to be up and happy all the time. We also judge our feelings harshly. Unacceptable feelings and unexpressed feelings are often medicated with food, it seems to be the drug of choice for many. Celebrating with food is a struggle for me. With holidays and family birthdays wedding anniversaries and on and on there is always a justification to celebrate with food. What I have noticed is that there are times I don't want to celebrate with certain foods on certain anniversaries! Boredom is another type of emotional eating for me. This is a great video!!

Now this was a good video. Every thing we ever accomplish starts in the mind. My wife of 25 years passed away at the first of this year which of course has put me on an emotional roller coaster. I think a good strategy is at least when you can be an emotional exerciser instead of an emotional eater. Exercise relieves stress and sadness with a long term benefit instead of a long term detriment.

You are so gentle Dani, you reminded me,that I shouldn' forget,to be gentle with me,especially when I feel I need food for comfort. My favorite sentence was:food is not going to solve anything...I find it gave a feeling of calmness. Thank you!

Clean & Delicious This is really great! It is dangerous to be an emotional eater. I have been turning more to the Lord for His help with my emotions. Thanks so much for this! And thank you for encouraging us in identifying that we can be successful in small steps!

Watching this video made me so uncomfortable, I was tempted to close with video multiple times during the 13 minute run. You may ask why? Because I was so scared to find a solution to my emotional eating at the end of the video. Because I knew if I knew a solution and still didn’t follow through I will self loathe and then emotionally eat again. It will take a long time as u said to get out of this web. Thank you Dani for introducing me to this book and way of life!

Hey! These series are pretty helpful. I went through something similar before I watched this, but it was still too much of a diet. But it helped me a lot in making some peace with food. I tend not to crave specific things and I don't blame myself for eating something "bad" - I do eat less of that than I used to. But now I have that problem that I start getting hungry and I don't know what to eat and it's kind of driving me insane. I can go to the grocery store and walk out empty-handed because I literally tell myself with every single food 'I don't really want that right now'. Do you have any tips on that?

I personally have found that through my journey and with coaching my clients (fitness/nutrition) that eating out of emotions (if for a negative reason) always comes down to dealing with an emotion of feeling unworthy of ones self. Great video~enjoying catching the series. Many good points in each one. Thank you

Another good video. I'm loving this series. I didn't consider myself an emotional eater until my mom passed away a year and a half ago. The weird thing was meat and veggies grossed me out and I was drawn to carbs and sweets. I needed serotonin which sugar can create. I gained 20 pounds. There's so much to learn and understand about emotional eating.

This is so helpful. I suffer from emotional disorder and very often eat just because can't stand the bad emotion. Will be learning to recognise the emotion and deal with it other way. Thanks Dani!

Since this serious started I've been eating a lot better. My food intake makes sense a bit more. I broke up with chocolate though I came to the conclusion that we can't have a normal relationship it's always been an abusive one.

I've so enjoyed these video's Dani! I got behind a bit, but I'm faithfully "catching up"! Also I think I will look at some of them, if not all of them again: there is so much information packed in them, a review will be very helpful.
At 73 I am finally on the way to good health and am making great progress. My secret? I finally took responsibility to inform my self and learn the why and what can I do parts of my health! This series is certainly a big help!

Thanks Dani! Great thoughts. Self awareness and acceptance is what you seem to be saying. This seems like really good advice. I would like to celebrate or share food with friends and family without the guilt. The problem for me is to eat less later to make up for the indulgence. My brain seems to trick me in to not doing this.

Enjoyed this discussion! It’s so easy to fall into a trap of emotional eating that’s not serving us or our bodies. At the same time, food is a very celebratory part of our culture, so we have to be mindful about when emotional eating is appropriate versus when it’s potentially harmful.

emotional eating has been a big part of my life. I have recently been working on this area. What kind of surprised me was about eating cake at a party was emotional eating. I have never thought of that but I can see how it is. I tend to eat when I am tired or bored.

Such a great topic!! Thank you so much! I just found your channel and so happy that I did. I have found that I've always been fluctuating with my weight since 22 years old. I have always been able to eat whatever I wanted then went to college and gained 10 lbs. There. I was a little underweight before I went so it didn't look too bad, but still a significant difference. This definitely helps me. I am a foodie and notice now I cannot eat whatever I want as much so used to and not gain weight, but I'm learning to respect my body more and food in relation to one another!!! I'm also eating cleaner now and looking forward to trying your meals!!! Awesome stuff! Thanks once again! God Bless You 😇 🤗💕💕💕🌈🌻☀️

Is this type of eating considered an eating disorder ?
I can not slow the process to find out why and I do this with chocolate and sweets a lot. I wish I could ditch this habit or hold on me. Whatever you call it.

I overate a couple of weeks ago (a few weeks into new relationship with food). I felt bad and suddenly I was not even aware of eating, but the new different was I did not like the feeling of being too full. I have not been adware of how much I dislike that feeling. The day after I felt bad again. However I was eating slow, trying to feel my fullness. I did not want to feel both bad and overfull.

I have been really struggling with emotional binge eating over the past two years but it's been bad lately. I have tried to source where negative feelings start and how thoughts snowball into binges, and I have come up with a few ideas. It mostly happens at the end of the day when I'm exhausted, when i let frustration build up, avoiding negative feelings or thinking about a negative experience, poor self image and confidence, and an all or nothing attitude. I am actively working on trying to change all of that. However, I still find it extremely difficult to maintain positive body image after gaining weight from binging. Do you have any advice?

boredome, lonlyness and unhappyness leads me to food and watching hours of youtube videos.. I only partly live my life and like watching others living theirs. I hate that I eat so much these days but I can't stop it and then I go to the bathroom and throw it all out. I even emotionally ate during this video.

My husband wants to lose weight. How do I support him?

    • @berry7590
      @berry7590 6 ปีที่แล้ว

Small steps grow to give you big results in the end. Support him for instance to not buy junk and try to reduce the fattening stuff from the house, of course healthy homemade dinners, evening walks together, plan your treats once a week or so. So basically be involved and get healthy together 💜 I lost 23 kg and my husband lost 14 kg doing these on a daily basis. Much love 💜

Ask him what he needs from you. Make his lunch. Prep healthy snacks and leave them at eye level in the fridge. Kiss and hug him more than usual. Tell him you believe in him and that he has everything he needs to succeed. Suggest he watch this series. Walk with him. Best to you both.
