  • Welcome to Mike's Retro Tech and the Retro tech Loft.
An interesting Hot Wheels item for you today.
I bought this off eBay for a couple of quid in a non working state.
As I had never seen one of these before, and it wasnt listed properly I didn't know what it was, so had to buy it.
It's an X-V Racer with Power Base. These were manufactured from 1996 to the early 2000s and could be run on their own, or with a 'stunt' track.
Check out the video here: from the Hot Wheels Fan Site. hotwheels.fandom.com/wiki/Mot...
The power base was in a right state of corrosive pain, so needed much TLC to coax the life back into it.
I may try and get the metal fingers re-chromed/nickeled if I can, but as its working, I don't think I will rush into doing that!
    Thanks for watching,
Come back for the next video

Hey Mike, as a 90s kid who just raided his mums garage to find my Hot Wheels x-v racers for my son and was devastated that they aren’t working I’m stoked to have found your video! I can confirm for you that this is the designed way they work and you aren’t missing any parts with this unit, as a kid I never held the wheels to build up the charge but instead just let the wheels spin until at top speed and then let rip 👌🏼 shall have to pop my battery packs open and take a look 😂
