It is the answer to the question of how people decide production. In socialism the government decides what will be produced. Production is supposed to be a collective decision. Even if completely representative this means some minority of the population will not have the job they want, the education they want, and there are fewer products to purchase. In capitalism each person has an opportunity to bring a product or service to market or to work in a capacity of their choosing to bring a product or service to market. The problem is it requires money, and a businesd isn't going to pay more than people are willing to work for in any particular area for any particular job. Any many people will work for a wage that will meet their needs when they have nothing. If a persons income opportunities are only sufficient to meet their expenses they will never have the time or money to improve their circumstances. In the Soviet Union there was no representation, in Venezuela there was incompetence, and in Cuba there were outside forces. The US blocking Cuba from doing business with the rest of the world and terror attacks within Cuba. Soviet Union was totalitarian not communist. Communism requires input from the citizens in regard to production and the allocation for resources, the USSR does not meet that criterion. Now you proceed to compare democracy and communism as if they are mutually exclusive. Communism is an economic idea and democracy is a political idea. Democracy is the cornerstone of communism, collective decision making to include production. The United States is not a democracy. A republic is the delegation of government to a small number to citizens elected by the rest, and the role of the government is restricted in the creation of law that imposes on the rights of citizens as defined by the constitution. He says the word ideology should be a red flag but all positions towards political and economic systems are an ideology. Progressivism is an ideology, Christian Nationalism is an ideology, and both are capitalist. As I previously stated I believe capitalism is superior but this is just a horrible representation of not understood information. It isn't that the US is not fans of the USSR. The goal of US foreign policy is to ensure market access and advantage in nations abroad, for the exploitation of labor, and resources. You cannot access the markets of socialist countries so socialism has to be restrained. Which is what happene to Cuba who expropriated US companies property in Cuba where private US interests owned probably 80 percent of Cuba's economy under Batista. Cuba sought nuclear weapons from Russia to deter what seemed like an evitable US invasion at the time. JFK was going to destroy the world rather than have nuclear weapons 90 miles away from US shores. I stopped 7:38.
