Enjoyed your video. I did exactly the same thing, twisted the transducer cable around the shaft of my Terrova and snapped it. Now I’m using the Terrova transducer attached to a Helix 7. I have my Garmin 93sv at the console.

mount the transducer. get a piece of PEX plasic tubing about 2 1/2 feet long and split lengthwise. buy two cable brackets or loop type brackets you can screw down to the boat deck without crushing the tubing. run the cable down the inside of the tubing on the starboard side of the terrova paralleling it about 3 inches away. wire tie the cable around the lower unit across the front. you will be able to manually pull the cable back up when you store the motor and by tying it off the front the wire will stow without getting pinched. it will slide through the tube when deployed. since it is only attached at the lower unit it cannot get twisted by the lift assist. been using mine for over a year. super easy and no wire problems.

Cable Guard from Precision Sonar is what you need. It takes care of this problem.

There's a way but most people won't take the time to do it. The spring loaded assist and shaft have to be separated a groove cut in the shaft with a router to sync the cord into put everything back together where nothing rubs or drags in your cord is hid inside the shaft recessed. It takes time but it can be done I don't know why they don't do that from the factory.

I have the same problem, but I have a Lowrance and can’t find the correct wiring to hook to universal cable. Any ideas?

If your Lowrance or Minn Kota are new within the last 2 years they're no long compatible. Humminbird is also no longer compatible with MotorGuide

It appears you have a older bass tracker as I do. May I ask what shaft length you chose and are you happy with that length and recommendations???? Thank You for your time!!

Mine is the 55 pound with 54 inch shaft. It's worked great for me, but I do not get out in real rough water, so not sure how it would handle the boat under those conditions.

@@OutdoorswithDonandBob thanks,,if i look at your video from 18-27 sec. It looks like the TM is sticking up 4 ft above the deck. Is this the same 54" 55lb Terrova??

@@yzman The total shaft from the head down to the motor is 4 1/2 feet. Looking at it I'd say about 2 1/2 feet is above the boat and 2 feet below the way it is set in the video. Of course it is adjustable so you could move everything up or down depending on what you wanted. We have a lake we fish with a lot of vegetation. There I set the motor so it's barely in the water and at that time the shaft is much higher. Id say where it's at in the video is maybe a little higher then I'd have it normally.

i have a 2018 terrove love it but i had the same problem. bought a Lowrance hook 7 with down imaging ,tryd running tha cable up thru tha notch in tha shaft but with lift assist it will not work. so i ended up buying a hummungbird helix 7 an used tha transducer already installed in tha head.. ps.. i couldnt buy an adapter cable to use that particuler Lowrance unit with tha Terrova just my luck..lol

in 2019 (maybe late 2018) lowrance stopped making their units compatible with Minn Kota (a Humminbird company). Humminbird did the same thing making their units not compatible with Motorguide trolling motors. Kinda sucks but is what it is anymore.

You can pull the head off and epoxy the cable in the slot. Theres several videos on utube that shows this.
