I did the same with cable but I split one of those precoiled 1/4" air hoses like some people have on work benches. It protects well and automatically coils.
For sure. I did that too. I've got a set up for that. I used this method for active searching during tournaments and didn't want all of the in and out of a pole during the event. Many do just what you've said.
Does the cable sheath provide enough protection to the wire in heavy weeds? Seems like there could be a lot of pull on the wire with just the sheath. Thanks.
Thanks Mike. I will take a look and see. I used it through an entire bass fishing tournament season (2 series) and it worked flawlessly. Stowed and deployed 40 times a day, so I tested it good. I'll let you know if I find any footage of it in use.
Great video sir it helped a lot, do you leave the transducer on when you pull it out of the water or do you turn it off every time? I’ve heard two separate opinions on this what your take is?
@@BrianGaberFishing thanks for the responses, I’m doing my first trip with it barrel mounted on my terrova this weekend. Ive been using a pole up to this point.

I'd try contacting them to see if they would just sell you the bottom components that I've shown. Might save you some $. cornfieldfishinggear.com/product/panoptics-transducer-trolling-motor-mount/
Doesn’t this eliminate the use of the spot lock? So you have to turn the motor to see different directions to locate fish, doesn’t that affect your boat position control?
When I did this video I was using Cornfield Crappie live sweep components. I would take a look at their website and see what they are still selling together as a combo, or individual components that could help give you ideas.
Are you still running this system. What is the part number of the Fish Obsessed bracket you purchased? Did you sell the top half of your Cornfield mount? Thanks.
Hopefully you will answer my question.? on a vertical plane. when the motor is deployed , how far off in inches is the vertical tube that your panoptics transducer mount is mounted from the terrovas power head as you call it ? I have the brackets from Precision Sonar that look identical from the Cornfield ones that you have, mine were bought to run a Garmin transenclosure
The centerline of the vertical tube is 7.5 inches from the centerline of the trolling motor shaft if that helps you. I sold the rig and don't have it to measure anymore.
Do you think this set up would work with the Ulterra? I hate that big ass coiled rubber that cornfield has you use. They could have at least made a smaller one.
If the switch is an option, I'd do it. If it isn't, this makes for a good work around. The boat rig package that my dealership provides me every year has a Terrova, so I had to get creative to get the function. If I was buying and ordering my preferred set up, I'd go Ultrex. Thanks for the question!
Just viewed this I think you did a great job ! I run the Ulterra and personally I think a Live Sweep pole is the way to go so you can spot lock and scan for fish/cover. You system looks great though. 👍👍
Dylan, It's part cornfield crappie and part fish obsessed mounts. Each of their websites have the products to duplicate this set up. Let me know if you have trouble finding.
Thanks for the question. My travel cover doesn't cover my tolling motor, so no issues for me. I don't think that the add on makes too much of a difference in size for someone who is covering everything.
It is! Super easy and it has worked flawlessly through two seasons of tournaments. By that I mean in and out of the water and spinning hundreds of times a day and no binding. It deploys and stows cleanly. It is the answer for the Terrova.
I just got my Livescope and I too have a Terrova. So you received both the upper and lower bracket in that kit from Cornfield, but you only used the lower bracket correct?
That's correct. I tried the upper and lower first, but the cable guard system they have was too heavy and awkward. That's when I pivoted to the rod cable sleeve and organized coiling of the transducer cable.
@@BrianGaberFishing I thought I had an idea regarding those brackets but quickly realized it wouldn't work, so I ordered my Cornfield kit today. @@sheaffergrubbs6056 They are both really very good at different things. While the livescope allows you to see the live returns, the 360 is better for seeing where cover is located. I will own both. If you are a structure fisherman, who finds cover and structure and target casts at it, the 360 is unmatched in my opinion (what direction to I cast to be effective). It did for me. I mean you are going to get weeds on stuff, but never had any pulling
Got links or part you used besides the cornfield hose
Would you recommend a casting or spinning rod sleeve? Is the tighter sleeve better?
I think the tight sleeve is better. I used a casting on the application you see here.
Im gonna try a spinning over a casting this week for extra protection, ill let you know how it goes

Could the fish obsessed mount be mounted to the shaft without the cornfield mount?
It wouldn't stow and lock in place. The mount took up too much space on the shaft of the trolling motor.

Off the top of my head, I think it could. If it coiled up the same and didn't pinch. It works for the manual uploading process on the Terrova.

no problem with the cable pulling too tight when you have spot lock on?
None. The sleeve allows it to spin freely. Never binds. Keeping a newer sleeve in it wall the time will help assure that.
Brian how does the transducer connect to the fish obsessed mount.
There is a 0 degree bracket that comes with the FO unit that screws right into the transducer like the Garmin bracket
Thank you

How is spot lock when it spins around 2 plus times
It spins freely. The cable liner (nylon rod sock) allows the shaft to turn unimpeded.
