@1003JustinLaw I'd say you're a monster, but that's actually pretty funny, and I wish I'd thought of it. But I probably would have gone with Walking Dead Destinies for my circle. Really drive in the stake.
Jules its awesome that your videos on FGS get substantially more views than any other video. It just shows you the impact you made on whatculture. Thankyou for all of your videos
I'm most definitely worried about AI/ChatGPT for basically every entertainment form, not just gaming! It's not going to take long before AI generated movies, shows, games, and hell, even books take over. And the kicker is, everyone that uses things like ChatGPT are just helping the process along, laughing the whole time.

My xbox had an issue not to long after I played starfield that caused me to replace it. Honestly I considered it a good thing what a underwhelming game. Switched back to Sony and got a ps5 least they know how make good exclusives. Bethesda have really become a shell of themselves and dropped the ball when they had the chance to right it.
Great vid as always :) I have a suggestion for a list: game remakes that got their soundtracks destroyed. Stubbs the Zombie and Tony Hawk immediately come to mind, but what other games have been either remade, remastered, or re released but minus parts of the soundtrack or with bad substitutions
As a father of 3 sons and multiple gaming systems I love PS Portal, I can still play my games on a very nice handheld device and kids can still use TV. I’ve tried all of those other ways to play it handheld like backbone which is cool but to me the portal is my new fav toy.
I'm interested to see what the long-term sales numbers are for the Playstation Portal. Everything I can find makes it sound like it was a huge success out of the gate because their entire stock quickly sold out, but nobody seems to know just how many units were available for the first run. Selling out in a few days is less impressive if they only made 10,000 units than if they made a million. Opinions vary wildly, but I get the impression that they're popular among PS5 owners who wouldn't think twice about spending $200 on a controller, a non-starter for anyone who is into the handheld gaming scene, and broadly "meh...maybe if the price goes down" among everyone else.
Doesn't surprise me anymore. It's like Hollywood. There's like 12 Fast & Furious movies. Only a couple are good, the rest are garbage. Give us sequels only if they're good. 👍
I don't care if the game I'm playing was coded by a human, a monkey, a lawnmower or some AI program. As long as it's good idgaf. Clothes used to made by human weavers working manual looms, then we invented machines capable of doing the work of hundreds of weavers at a time. This made clothes cheaper, more widely available & available in more variety. The same thing happened with cars & innumerable other industries. Games, movies & music (in a business context) are industrial processes, no different to the manufacture of textiles or metals, they are not magically immune to technological advances. There will always be a demand for human-made things, people still buy hand-made clothes after all, but everyone needs to get it through their heads that you cannot uninvent things & you cannot stop technological advances. Literally every single group that has attempted that in the entire history of human civilization has failed. People aren't even considering that given AI allows one person to do the work of loads of people, it could actually lead to a boom in indy games made by one person using AI
Whats crazy is that if you go to the PS Portal subreddit, it definitely has a niche and strong, yet odd group of staunch supporters, but for the average person including me, I just cant get behind it. I would have LOVED a portable way to play my Ps5 games. Even if it was just something like installing and playing only 1 game at a time on it. But the fact that I need to have my actual system on too, have wifi to some degree, means its practically useless. That, and you have to make sure nobody is using your Ps5 because if someone turns off your Ps5 or starts using it then you are SOL
The studio where I see the decay or talent and ideas the most is Naughty Dog. A decade and more ago they had beloved and successful games, now they've basically canceled factions for Last of Us 2, the dedicated factions (or was that the same? I'm not up to date with it, because I don't play the multiplayer) and the only thing they really have to for the last 10 years are one game and a remake that barely deserves the description remake and now they're remastering a game that's barely 3 years old. Compared to they pumped out in the past that's quite ridiculous and a bit pathetic. The only redeeming factor here is that Last of Us II remastered will only be 50 instead of 80€
I don’t know about the PS Portal being as bad as you claim. I’ve seen a lot of people playing them while on long flights, and it connects better that the phone/controller combo. I’m probably the only one, but kinda hoped it would be more like a Vita 2, with its own games, app, and console expansions.
Why does a Video game set in the dark ages that uses magic and swords instead of bombs and guns in fps multiplayer combat sound amazing it would have game modes like TDM, Dom, koth, ffa stuff like that.
Forspoken > Starfield most of the hate from it comes from people who don’t realize cringy dialogue and story IS THE ISEKAI GENRE AS A WHOLE. At least it’s fun to play more than you can say about midfield
I love and will miss E3, but it kinda dug its own grave, long before the pandemic and other big publishers realized they could do without it. And they only made it worse it recent years by thinking they were still at the status they once were. One of E3s biggest downfalls prior to the pandemic was opening the doors to the public. Before, it was a trade show and only for exclusive personnel, authorized and invited journalists and gaming media personalities. This allowed for a lot of great coverage on the show floor and not just the stage presentations. It let journalist roam the floors and get scoops on all manners of indies, and yeah there were the odd moments that people invited non-authorized friends and family, but for the most part it was for the industry itself. While its nice that others can experience the show now, ever since they did make it public you saw a noticeable dip in the coverage. Most gaming sites only go for the big stories and only really cover whats shown at the presentations now because thats what sure to get them clicks and they cant afford to wait in long queues of lines of people to try and scoop some obscure indie. The amount of coverage you see for games outside of presentations is much lacking compared to before. Post pandemic, E3 is still trying to charge insane 5 and 6 figure prices just for booths at its venue, and 4 figure numbers for seconds of trailers to be shown. Its why some footage shown of games in trailers are only snippets if they are from indies, if they last 30 or more seconds, you can be sure the publisher is more established, and the AAA games always have the longest trailers because they could afford those crazy price tagss. E3 charges devs and publishers like they are the superbowl of the gaming industry, and they just havent carried that status in a long time. So its no wonder why they fail to get showcases going anymore, or booths to fill their floors. The prices are too high for what isnt even a sure thing anymore, and even the indie devs arent getting much out of it anymore because it feels like just a bigger PAX.
Jules, you seem to be forgetting one glaringly obvious fact about Silent Hill Ascension: The Silent Hill fan base is so toxic it should be declared a biohazard. Yes, Ascension may very be absolutely terrible. As a fellow longtime SH fan myself, I am undeniably certain that it is as atrocious as you say it is. However, we all know what the majority of so-called “fans” are like. Konami have been sitting on their laurels for a good long while on the SH franchise, but the fan base is so terminally sick with resentment for that company that anything Konami puts out would be condemned by the majority, regardless of how good or bad it is. The point being made here is that the negative reaction toward SH: Ascension, is due in-part not to the poor quality of the product itself but of a deep-rooted sociological problem which is twisting and corrupting the majority of fan culture these days. With fans that are becoming increasingly indistinguishable from haters, it begs the question as to why more developers and creatives haven’t adopted a similarly adversarial approach? Given the current climate (and the increasing hostility toward the creative arts), it certainly can be very tempting on occasion.
Just remember that Silent Hill Ascension is made by they same company that made MGS Survive. Do you remember that train wreck of a always online game that the servers are no longer working for, or at least I would think that they are not working anymore.
21:15 Love, happiness, and success... huh... three things I currently don't have. I guess it's something that at least one person who doesn't know me think I deserve those things. Just a shame life disagrees.

Yeah. Konami's already f🐐g up with this one. This just makes the other Silent Hill projects sound more depressing to see. Hopefully one of the last two can puck it back up.
I feel like, when it comes to lists like this about gaming in 2023, AEW Fight Forever should be mentioned in one of them. It's hilarious that Sony thought they'd be able to let's face it make a Nintendo Switch knock off, and make it worse thinking it'll just work, reminds me of when Microsoft tried to buy Nintendo.
Gaming companies consolidating their power and thus eliminating competition. AI-driven game scripts writing generic and lifeless narratives, all so that a few corporate shills can save money because they desire money. That's a recipe for a second video game crash.

Ahhhh, but the difference is, the problems with Destiny were blamed squarely on the devs even though they had spent the past couple years trying to get their bosses to implement at least SOME of the things the community wanted.
No offence Jules ( plus I know your new channel wants more subs and likes.) But I subscribed to your channel about 3 or 4 months ago and have watched a lot of your vids. Keep up the good work.

This industry is going for a second crash sooner or later. It's more and more about money, with publishers becoming more evil by the second only (and that happens because gamers fall and support it). Like i always say, the future is indie, AAA publishers will go the way of the dodo if they don't change their ways. As for AI games...when the first AI game hit the marker i'm done, i prefer to watch paint dry. People need to understand once and for all that, not only AI is a lie but that AI was done with two goal, control and money. Last but not least, one of the top 3 worst things in 2023 is MICROSOFT. Microsoft is trying to buy the monopoly of video games, and sadly they are achieving that. It started with Bethesda, now it was Activision/Blizzard, there are talks that they want to get their hands on Sega, Nintendo and Valve (for Steam)...it's maddening and quite horrendous. Truth be told the Saints Row reboot is actually pretty good. And yes, I say that as a fan of all the previous games. It is silly jokes and fun gameplay but as it happened to so many other games the "critics" personal opinions ruin not just games but whole companies. Just ridiculous.
it's funny that you said whatculture at the start of this video and I'm glad I found your new employers here at FGS, Whatculturegaming has been hard to watch lately. I'm not a fan of psy's delivery of his lists and it has made me almot complete unsubscribe for WCG so it's good to find out where at least one of the good hosts went, now just need Jess and this will be an amazing channel like WCG use to be
I recently had a lengthy discussion about the game industry and how It's now a soulless mass of pus and bile, oozing death as it absorbs anything and everything in its path. I have been a massive gamer since the mid-80s until roughly 15 years ago or so when I noticed a massive shift within the industry. I wasn't sure where that shift was heading, but I had an uneasy feeling about it. As a whole, the gaming public was oblivious to it as it creeped in slowly, and now it got us by the balls, and we feel powerless to do anything about it. It might be time to throw all my gaming stuff into storage (both physical and digital) and take up other, more rewarding pursuits. If enough people do this, the game industry blob just might wither to dust.
Hello friends! Unfortunately I'm not feeling very well today so just popping in to say hi and big love to you all! ❤❤❤

Gaming in 2023: it was the best of times, it was the worst of times
hopefully the best year of gaming in a decade isn't just the fall of Rome, and soon we'll hear the fiddles while watching it burn
I feel like the whole Unity situation was extremely iffy as well. That probably sent many indie games back for a while.
Jules, when it comes to Silent Hill: Ascension, there's only one way to describe that.... "game".
IT'S TRAUMA!

Lord of the Rings: Gollum was a disappointment? Anyone that had seen a single frame of the trailer knew it was going to be terrible
I was wondering *when* Jules would slip up and mix up What Culture and FGS. :D I figured it had to happen sooner or later.
I'd be willing to bet this isn't the first one, just the first one that he left in 😂
When What Culture uploaded their bloopers video yesterday, I expected a Jules FGS mix up. Sadly no dice, but to see it here was equally as funny.
Yet again I hear about how Forspoken gets criticized for trying to be "Kool with the kids", but no ACTUAL reason as to why it's a "bad game".
That's why its bad lol it's corny
Been waiting for the mixup fumble😂

And i don't have any console, i play on the PC (with Windows 10), so i'm unbiased on this matter.

I'm not a fan of psy's delivery of his lists and it has made me almot complete unsubscribe for WCG so it's good to find out where at least one of the good hosts went, now just need Jess and this will be an amazing channel like WCG use to be
Ha; so the PS Portal is like the Wii U
Lol 22 omg most haited game was biomutant
lord of the rings return to moria disappointed me. combat was awful
E3 was fun for "gaming journalists", not the rest of us. Good riddance.
This editor is not very good at censoring. 😂
Puke

Happy to move with you to FGS! Maybe spin the wheel on that bicycle once in a while to remind us all how far we’ve came. 🟩👑🙏
Also sorry, not sure if you still own that room or bicycle. Hail King Jules.🥂🎉
