    I've owned Honda, Toyota, Infiniti, Acura, Chevrolet, Volkswagen...etc. All have their selling points. Honda however, continues to shake-up the industry with these class-leading redo's. The Civic...WOWOWOW. Now the Accord. Great job Honda. I currently drive a 2016 ILX A-Spec. Great ride, but when the 2018 Accord is in the showroom, I'm off to the dealer.

    Beautiful inside & out. I'll get the 1.5L turbo in the most expensive trim with head-up-display. Quality material in the interior and plenty nice exterior. Beats the heck out of the 2018 Camry. In my mind, Toyota has cheapened the Toyotal line & especially their Lexus brand.

      Justin David I'm sure I'll have an uber in one soon and get a better feel. My thoughts as of now: the lower seating is questionable if close 2 the new civic. While I'd prefer it, the masses of people who are looking for a family car makes me wonder. My folks got a new camry (highest trim thats wasn't v6) which left me disappointed for what it's going for as well as vs my brothers current gen v6 camry. Like the lack of comfort. Oh those leather seats w/ adj lumbar are subpar both in comfort & soft leathery feel. Especially compared to new nissans I've been in which imo are best comfort in class.
      Looking at the fuel econ, the 2.0 accord doesn't look good vs the Camry @22/32 vs 28/38 but it's got more hp/tq & has to feel (and be) quicker over the 4banger in the Camry which when flooring was anemic. even though it's not a cvt & has ~200hp/tq.
      Inside I'm fairly confident I can give the edge (or more) to the accord vs the camry. Sure things feel well put together in the camry but it's not at the quality I would have hoped (quasi lexus) & not at current mazda, higher trim kia or nissan (for the most part)
      High(est) trim accords have had ~ acura level which looks to be the case here.
      Outside those full led headlights I think set it apart from the pack & like the refreshed design. All in all seems like a good all around family car but can't help think that they couldn't go all out because stepping on the heels of the stagnant acura .

  • @K03sport
    @K03sport 7 ปีที่แล้ว +49

    No one is actually reviewing the car; they're just driving it and giving pseudo impressions and regurgitating the press release - there is no real objective review going on in the 6 "reviews" I've watched... At least HPJ gave some "tips & tricks" in his video...it's a new car, it's supposed to drive nice but what does it do/not do better than the competition???

    • @EUC-lid
      @EUC-lid 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      All of these reviews are "first looks". Journalists are invited out to a press junket near some good smooth roads (or a track, if it's a performance car) with picturesque scenery where they sit through a few presentations, eat some expensive food, and are then given the cars for a few hours to get some pictures/video and some initial impressions. These cars are usually very early production and are sometimes a little buggy. Then the automaker gives them a press embargo that doesn't allow them to say anything about the vehicle in public (an NDA, basically) until a certain time and date (and sometimes prevents them from saying anything about the known bugs that won't be present in the production vehicles).. then everyone uploads their initial impression reviews on that date.
      At a later date the journalists get an opportunity to get a press car assigned to them that they then use for their full reviews. Press cars are full-on production cars. Most reviews occur after the journalists have had several weeks and hundreds of miles to do their testing. This is how every mainstream car release has worked for the past 15 years or so. It's such a good model that electronics are doing the same thing now. An Apple iPhone Launch Event is nothing more than a press junket where the press gets 15 minutes to paw at and film a new device before going back home and playing with a real one for a week or more.

    Try driving the ten speed automatic in city traffic. IT SUCKS. Thankfully I test drove it. If you want an automatic transmission, you better go for the CVT. Even the new Camry with the 8 or 10 speed automatic is searching for gears in city traffic. I just bought my new 2018 Accord a month ago. Awesome with the CVT. So, either buy this car with the CVT automatic tranny or 6 speed stick if you want manual. So many car companies are now making cars with a pathetic 8 and 10 speed automatic tranny to please the "More Is Better" crowd. Don't fall for it. Also, the CVT has 45% less moving parts than the conventional automatic transmission and after 25 years, it has been proven to be more dependable than the multi speed automatic transmissions. Just make CERTAIN you only use transmission fluid designed for use in a CVT transmission .This is a GREAT car with the CVT. I'm LOVIN' IT!

Honda came out with some Beautiful Designes that Forced many Car factory's to call back their designs and think two ice about what way they wanted to go. like Mercedes, Audi. And now Honda nearly copies audi's design insted of just building that beautiful car up to date!!? is it because Honda was forced to do that when they didn't allowed Accord to go on europien market!!? Would make a great Q-car ie fit the Civic Type-R engine under the bonnet, manual only and some adaptive suspension software tuning. Sadly it seems aimed at the baby boomers upgrading from the old Accord- quiet, automatic transmission, space for the elderly friends to the bowling game, safe and boring style (not too boring), better road holding is a bonus and boot for the golf clubs and bowling balls, rock solid reliability, fast enough for the Interstate middle lane, tech to avoid accidents. In Europe they're only bought by the retired or taxi drivers driving carpet like roads.

    What is wrong with Honda. My 07 TL Type-S had more power than this and it was built over 10 years ago! I just don’t understand what they are thinking. I left Honda in 2011 when I got rid of my TLS and have yet to see anything worth owning from Honda/Acura. They’re as boring as Toyota now . Ugh

    Looking at this vid in early 2023. Tenth gen accord is no more, and Honda is producing the 11th gen. Honda no longer offers the 2.0T in the accord. Only the 1.5 and a hybrid engine. I'm. Glad I picked up my 2.0T touring when I did.

    More and more plastic. Cars today are just a bunch of plastic on wheels and they're only getting worse and worse because they need to make them lighter and lighter for fuel economy and of course to keep costs low and maximize profit.
    The "chrome accents" is just all plastic. Side and back profile looks like a Buick

    i just test drove this exact car..although not in love..its nice..
    pros...very quiet..solid..good build quality..every standard new safety feature..hud great..
    cons...bad stereo..even on this top of the line...not bose...dont know what but..just horrible...i have 10 altima with bose and a sub in the back..but sound just not there..would need to upg speakers...personally i dont like the rims..prefer the sport smaller ones...vented seats worked poorly....nothing like the caddy vent seats..

    The sensor on the front is located directly where the license plate is supposed to go... how could anyone overlook that!? Front & rear are not perfect. Have to see it in person to make a final decision. Cost keeps going up. I’m thinking they’ll start losing lease contracts. Especially when they’re almost 300 per month & the lease holder is responsible for maintenance cost and a fee at the end of lease term. The midsize sedan is not that practical. You can’t haul much yard waste to the compost or grab an aerator from the local rent shop if you “diy” like me. I’ve had several times when a smaller piece of furniture wouldn’t fit in my 16 accords’ trunk or rear seat. Another miss is the fact that there’s no center pass through in the accords’ rear seat. Those can be really handy for things such as a few fishing rods or lumber like a 2x4 while still allowing two rear passengers to sit in back while on a trip up north to the cabin or even just to the hardware store.

    Except for the uneven hood and trunk and the horrible panel gaps. I was about to buy one until i saw the hood completely lopsided and a panel gap or more then a finger width on one side and almost touching on the other side. Buyer beware. I shopped around and looked at a few, found that about 80% had this issue. I can't believe this honda quality. I guess you're only paying for the engine quality. All that said, I bought an acura. Their attention to detail isn't even comparable. Unbelievable.

    "...Modern, without going overboard. A fault that can be applied to many modern toyotas" Hah! While i don't deny that is true, i find it comical that this is mentioned in a HONDA review... you know Honda, the maker of the new honda civic Type R. Talk about overstyled. Heck, not just the type r, but the hatchback also suffers from horribly overstyled bits, such as... everybody say it together, fake air vents!
