I think they'll save that type of powertrain for the Acura in this size segment... I mean, the last Accord Type-R was from the 6th generation which was only for Europe. This was also the generation where Honda started to split everything. There were three different versions; For the Americas, Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia, Then one for Japan and lastly one for Europe (Africa? And was Russia, Europe or Asia? No idea). The 7th generation was in Europe what in the US became known as the Acura TSX, which also was the last Accord we ever got here. Honda's selling the Civic sedan as their option for the D-segment.
I’m totally addicted to your channel. I find myself watching reviews for cars I would never consider buying, just for the entertainment. lol Btw, I just got the 2.0T in manual transmission. So as a straight piper, pls review the manual!! Keep up the great work guys!!
I test drove the 1.5T and the 2.0T back-to-back. Obviously the 2.0T is the more powerful choice . I also love the 10-speed auto in the 2.0T vs. the CVT in the 1.5T. If you drive them back-to-back as I did, you will find that the 1.5T/CVT feels as if it has something holding it back (horsepower, transmission perhaps?), while the 2.0T/10-speed auto felt vigorously willing and able. If you can afford the 2.0T/10-speed auto version in any trim, I HIGHLY recommend purchasing this configuration.
Totally agree with you guys about the Accord. I drive a BMW and testing driving the Honda was extremely surprising. Just like you guys said...it almost eliminates the need for Acura because it's so nice. I do wish there was an option for a V6, but I guess you have to go to the Camry if you want that.

This is one of the best reviews for this car I ever seen (and I’ve seen a lot). You’ve mentioned some details that other reviewers just ignored. Great job guys !! Can’t wait to see your review for the new Camry and a comparison between it and the Accord.
Well-appointed Accords have been nearly as good as any Acura since 2000. If you don't need the bleeding edge design / features, prestige of Acura or wish to throw your money at a depreciating asset, then Accords are an awesome option.
Acura does not have bleeding edge design. They haven't even adopted the new platform yet. Acura is actually quite a few years behind Honda. Their excuse is that they are sticking to what works. I think they're lazy.
I love your videos. Keep up the great work. Honestly, after Jason camissa left motor trend, I've been looking for a new awesome car series. This does it! Chess
Love your channel so much I'm even watching reviews on cars I'm not interested in at all. Love the music at the start of this. Great videos. Keep it up.
lightness with a solid feel, comfort but just right so suspension still feels sporty and stable, quietness but not too quiet that makes u feel sick. this is the most perfect car of Honda and way above its league.
The 1.5T in the accord does not have conventional VTEC(variable valve lift) It is an almost identical motor to the one in the new CR-V. I believe Honda is calling their variable valve timing "VTEC" as a marketing ploy.
TheStraightPipes yes I believe it's a little bit different, but I'm 99% sure that it does not have variable valve lift. However I would be happy to be wrong in this case.
Great video! I never understood why some companies make the vizors so small that they don't really block out the sun unless you're literally sitting with your head jammed up against the ceiling. Some brands do get it right though, like Saab. That should be part of your "Vizor-test" guys :)
Ok, i'm not into midsize family cars, but i would have this car (even with the cvt), it's just so refined. I actually ended up test driving this, and was even more impressed than i thought i would be.
I work at a shop being that these cars have average warranty of 60k to 100k mileage I'm assuming that they will start breaking down around 120 to 160k but since they sell so much and are common cars they'll be cheap to repair.
IMHO, Acura doesn't need any help from this Accord (or any other vehicle) to make it irrelevant, it is doing a fine job all by itself already. This new Accord, does make the Mazda 6 irrelevant, though. Now the only thing the 6 has going for it is the pretty looks.
Seriously. I saw Acura at the NYC Auto Show and they're STILL using an infotainment system from the era of "Speak a specific command into this thing or it won't work because it can't pick up on context". It's sad that even though the TLX finally got Android Auto in the 2018 model, it's woefully behind the times and the Accord just keeps getting better. Heck, I thought the 2016 Accords were great, and now the new gen is giving us Driving Assist features STANDARD?! Even with the MT!? Ugh, at this point I give up on Acura. If I want AWD, I'd be better off getting an Accord for myself and a HRV/CRV for my spouse.
Sat in this car and it feels more premium than most mid size sedans. Also the temperature control knobs are really cool. I also love the lobster claws lol
I'd love to see a full review. I'm getting conflicting reports but it looks like the MT 2.0T doesn't have the revmatching feature of the Type-R, and there's a weird overlap. Like, I'm reading that it's the Touring model that has the adjustable dampers/sport mode, but the Sport trim is the only one with the MT. If the Sport had adjustable dampers, I'd get it in a heartbeat, but it looks like I'll have to get the 10-speed Touring and flip it to Sport mode when my gf isn't in the car :P
+Renaldo Johnson the manual 2.0T did not have Rev matching. Or we couldn't find it. It was a pre production model though. I believe you are correct and the Sport MT does not have adjustable dampers. When we drove the Sport MT, there was no sport button. The sport button is what changes the dampers on the Touring
LunchTime I drove both a 2018 Accord sport 2.0t manual and a sport 2.0t automatic. The manual was great and am planning to go purchase it this Saturday, the auto did have a sport button though if that helps as it wasn't touring model and definitely remember the salesman hitting sport mode button during my test drive so it is offered in the sport auto but was not a feature for the manual sport which is odd I know
With 41.2 cubic feet of cargo space, the Passport can hold plenty of gear. There's also an underfloor storage area that's divided in plastic bins that can be used to hide the occasional shopping bags or tools. EX-L and above get a power tailgate, while Touring and Elite are equipped with a hands-free sensor to open the tailgate. Second-row seats fold completely flat in a 60/40 configuration and can easily be folded from the cargo area or the second row. With the seats down, the Passport's cargo space expands to 77.9 cubic feet.
Great video ! I feel like I just went on a quick vacation in Canada. Alberta looks beautiful. As far as the car, it looks good. I would be interested in seeing your review of the "almost type-R engine" Accord with the manual. As good as this car is, I would hope the 2018 Acura TLX is still better. If not, Acura needs to step it up fast.
Acura really needs to step up its shit.... The TLX desperately needs +320HP to be competitive right now, They even drop the ball on the A-Spec which should be the excellent opportunity to update the power and ditch that horrible ZF9 Speed in favor of the 10 Speed.
Nathan Johnson the accord and civic does shit on the tlx and ilx for sure.. But with Honda's new president and promise to bring back Honda's and acuras roots and more premium vehicles we now see the changes. The NSX has returned along with the civic type r. We now have turbo charged motors in the accord, civic and crv that are dominating their segment. There is a twin turbo motor in development for their cars under 60k. The new rdx is the first Acura not designed by the bean counters. Which is why it's so much more impressive than the current acuras. I would wait to see the next gen of acuras line up before closing the book on them.
You guys just made one of the best review of this car. Just Awesome :D I hope you guys will make Toyota Camry vs Honda Accord Comparison. It'd be great Subscribed. Haha
TheStraightPipes Do it again ...a review of manual sport 2.0 Accord when it's get out. In like manner and it'll be a hit!( with cool intro tune..) ...subscribed , wona see that manual 2.0 review!
This car isn’t good looking imo. Although they nailed the interior and tech unlike the Camry. Manual 2.0 is the way to go and hopefully they will listen to people with the refresh about the styling.
The new camry is hideous in my opinion, although I wasn't too sure about the 2018 accord when i saw it either. But I got used to it, and I actually quite like it. Plus that interior is damn good for a non luxury brand
As I mentioned, it sounded hilarious because it was so directly counter-intuitive based on how you were praising the car. Of course there are plenty of cars that I like and I really wouldn't buy, but that is mostly because there is something about the car that doesn't do what I am looking for. If it does everything that I'm looking for, then I would probably admit that I would buy it. Based on the review content, there was really nothing that either of you identified that suggested you wouldn't buy it. Had you mentioned something, it would have been less of a surprise.
I’m 28 and got the 2.0t sport and I was coming from a focus ST. It’s just me using it with occasionally having friends in the car but it’s gone to show it’s not just a family car anymore
You don't need to have 2 kids and a dog to buy this car, it's just a good comfortable and possibly fun daily driver. I'm thinking about getting it around next summer even though originally I planned to get a GTI
Are you upset that there's no more V6? Gimmicky temperature control knobs? Great infotainment? Enough luxury features for the price?

I just finished the 2019 Honda Pilot review and came back to this just to check out the infotainment. Also Jakub looks like a child without the beard lol
Please do a review of the 2.0 manual!
This is one of the best reviews for this car I ever seen (and I’ve seen a lot). You’ve mentioned some details that other reviewers just ignored. Great job guys !!
Can’t wait to see your review for the new Camry and a comparison between it and the Accord.
+Obai Mand thanks so much
Well-appointed Accords have been nearly as good as any Acura since 2000.
That front grill looks so great with that little chrome beam. Love sedans like this that look legit
I love your videos. Keep up the great work. Honestly, after Jason camissa left motor trend, I've been looking for a new awesome car series. This does it! Chess
Cheers*
+Avarokin Raj thanks!
I got my first car a month ago. It's a 2004 manual 2 liter accord sedan. The euro version, so the better looking one.
the 2017 accord tail lights were so much better.
True
it makes me so happy that you guys are doing well!
+ZaedricYT thank you!
You should have reviewed 2.0T, it's insanely fast and gives "Type-R" experience in sedane.
Another great video guys... And Yuri, we did clarify that issue about the WHEELS LMFAO... Don't stop your reviews. Huge fan!
+Jeffrey Tinsley haha thanks!
Any chance you guys can do the 2019 Sport Manual 2.0 ?
Love your channel so much I'm even watching reviews on cars I'm not interested in at all. Love the music at the start of this. Great videos. Keep it up.
Thanks!
WOW! By far the nicest looking Honda to date IMO ;-)
lightness with a solid feel, comfort but just right so suspension still feels sporty and stable, quietness but not too quiet that makes u feel sick. this is the most perfect car of Honda and way above its league.
The 1.5T in the accord does not have conventional VTEC(variable valve lift) It is an almost identical motor to the one in the new CR-V. I believe Honda is calling their variable valve timing "VTEC" as a marketing ploy.
+Nico Gonzalez they told us the engine was different than the CRV one
TheStraightPipes yes I believe it's a little bit different, but I'm 99% sure that it does not have variable valve lift. However I would be happy to be wrong in this case.
Great video! I never understood why some companies make the vizors so small that they don't really block out the sun unless you're literally sitting with your head jammed up against the ceiling. Some brands do get it right though, like Saab. That should be part of your "Vizor-test" guys :)
I still hate the chrome bar in the front
Thankfully on the sport trim you get it blacked out, looks alot better.
lord_ RaeDan yhea i just dont understand why honda loves the chrome bar so much is in almost all their models
nicolas prieto probably because not enough people complain about it.
+lord_ RaeDan now you're getting it! Hahah
TheStraightPipes I noticed the theme "don't stop complaining" lol
Ok, i'm not into midsize family cars, but i would have this car (even with the cvt), it's just so refined. I actually ended up test driving this, and was even more impressed than i thought i would be.
Anyone know how much the cost of these turbos would be once they die? Also approx how much mileage can you expect before the turbos break?
It’s a Honda, they’re not gonna fail.
I work at a shop being that these cars have average warranty of 60k to 100k mileage I'm assuming that they will start breaking down around 120 to 160k but since they sell so much and are common cars they'll be cheap to repair.
You guys are experts at putting the video clips together!
Terry C makes the Mazda 6 irrelevant, they have most of Mazda 6 design on the inside and the mazda6 is beautiful and it drives better
Renaldo Johnson I know your comment is old but did you see the new Acura RDX. If they make all their cars like that it's gonna be awesome
Sat in this car and it feels more premium than most mid size sedans. Also the temperature control knobs are really cool. I also love the lobster claws lol
I wish you would have reviewed the 2.0t, 250hp? Damn! If I was in my mid thirties and had a kid I'd definitely buy this car!
+LunchTime we drove it for 30mins after filming this video. It's got much more power and the manual is fun
The manual was great and am planning to go purchase it this Saturday, the auto did have a sport button though if that helps as it wasn't touring model and definitely remember the salesman hitting sport mode button during my test drive so it is offered in the sport auto but was not a feature for the manual sport which is odd I know
Bro this whole video looks so aesthetic
My Hyundai also have those color changing knobs
Great job guys
And
Congratulations!!!!👍👌🤘🍻🥂50k
Which Hyundai do you have?
And your Hyundai looks a thousand times better than this ugly Accord!
www.techmalak.com/with-an-epa-of-47-the-2018-accord-hybrid-is-still-ugly/amp/
+Boateng 2018 we drove a pre production 2.0T with manual transmission for about 30mins. It was great. Much more power and more fun with the manual
Acura really needs to step up its shit.... The TLX desperately needs +320HP to be competitive right now, They even drop the ball on the A-Spec which should be the excellent opportunity to update the power and ditch that horrible ZF9 Speed in favor of the 10 Speed.
skirmich i assume the next gen acuras are going to be great. Look at the new rdx.
It’s time to close the book on Acura. Honda Accord and Civic are so good they make the Acura sedans look overpriced and behind the times.
You guys have the most fun car reviews on YT. This car looks great in Alberta! Enjoy.
+ᙅYᙖᙓᖇ ᗪOᙅ™ thanks very much!
You're most welcome.
You guys just made one of the best review of this car. Just Awesome :D
I hope you guys will make Toyota Camry vs Honda Accord Comparison. It'd be great
Subscribed. Haha
+Minh Hoàng Ngô thanks! We are doing the Camry in a few weeks
Me too . Totally agree. Especially like intro tune...I replay 3 times before watching the rest of the video, and I'm 47...watched on one breath .
TheStraightPipes Do it again ...a review of manual sport 2.0 Accord when it's get out. In like manner and it'll be a hit!( with cool intro tune..)
...subscribed , wona see that manual 2.0 review!
+Sergey Yevtukh thanks. Will do our best to get that comparison video
I liked it a lot too. Subscribed.
My dad has the sport! I love this car and it’s iconic Vtec!
I sure miss the backdrop of ticky-tacky suburban GTA :)
+James B we missed them so much they'll return again... And again... But not before a few different videos coming up next ;)
I definitely dont miss that scene - see it every freakin' day
still one of the best videos you guys made, you gotta film more here once this virus ends
Can blacked out chrome be the standard now? Also #VolumeKnobForTheCivic2018
+zakywave haha yes, agree with both points
Flannel and denim in one shirt--that spells Canada!
If you google pictures of prawn noodle signboard, you'll find Honda tail lights
Cheng Hoo Sew 😂😂😂
Got a 2.0 sport and Hondata stage 2 tune.
Now it's a perfect "sporty" family sedan 😁
why buy an Acura?
TheMichaelRN turbo v6 comming.. Honda knows what they are doing.. without the new engine Acura would die..
all wheel drive.
Right now? AWD and V6Future? Type S DOHC Turbo V6 AWD and of course a brand new platform.
JrVtec I don't think the new platform is out for the tlx yet
Rolling shots are sooo good. Fellow camera/gear junkie here too. Awesome videos keep it up!
+Eric Vilendrer thanks
This car isn’t good looking imo. Although they nailed the interior and tech unlike the Camry. Manual 2.0 is the way to go and hopefully they will listen to people with the refresh about the styling.
+Ziakel hey if you complain enough, they might actually do something about it. See: volume/Tuning knob
The new camry is hideous in my opinion, although I wasn't too sure about the 2018 accord when i saw it either. But I got used to it, and I actually quite like it. Plus that interior is damn good for a non luxury brand
Ziakel I feel like all of Hondas new styling doesn't look very good in video or pictures. But I like it quite a bit in person.
Detailing and stuff ! I feel that way about most cars. It all depends on how the photographer captures the picture.
That’s awesome I live 5 hours away from jasper and work there every summer it’s a beautiful place
It's hilarious that you both gush about this car, but then you bluntly say that neither of you would buy it. LOL
+chetthehoss why? I like a lot of cars that I wouldn't buy. Every car isn't for everyone
+chetthehoss it's just not a car for us, at this point in our lives. That's all
I’m 28 and got the 2.0t sport and I was coming from a focus ST. It’s just me using it with occasionally having friends in the car but it’s gone to show it’s not just a family car anymore
LOL lobster claw taillights. so true
I found your channel today and I started to watch all of your videos. You guys are great, keep this friendly format please:)
The front looks like a dodge charger
Do you mean the RT, Honda had that styling before Dodge.
Yeah the 2015 version
It does but Honda actually introduced that design on the 2013 Accord Hybrid, Dodge face lifted the charger for 2015.
ZROSTARS yeah they are nice too chargers
You don't need to have 2 kids and a dog to buy this car, it's just a good comfortable and possibly fun daily driver. I'm thinking about getting it around next summer even though originally I planned to get a GTI
