    I love the relationship between Jin and Paul. It not gives Paul more impact as a character, but also a genuine father figure Jin never had with Heihachi and due to Kazuya not being present. Not to mention his friendly rivalry with Hwoarang was also fun to watch as it showed despite stating they weren't friends, Hwoarang still looked out for Jin like a brother and stood by his side along with Paul and Xiaoyu when Heihachi shoot him.

    Funny you mention the motion picture, because Tekken Bloodline is like the spiritual sequel for that ova. Not only because Bloodline conveniently begins right where it ended but many of the same themes and plot lines are found here. Heihachi in Bloodline is surprisingly consistent with how he was written in the motion picture with how he is trying to influence Jin into his way of thinking. Heihachi tried to stoke Kazuya's anger and hatred as well and Jun tried to reach out to him not to be consumed by those negative thoughts just as she's raising Jin in Bloodline with the same philosophy. Kazuya and Jin are basically going through similar journeys.
    There are some discrepancies, because both projects were made independent of each other, but I like how well they complement each other. You can watch both of them together and they kind of work.
    Even the way they end mirror each other with Kazuya and Jin overcome by their darkness beating Heihachi into a bloody mess.

    • @AlleywayJack
      @AlleywayJack  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah you could definitely watch both and have a consistent story, the main difference I can think of is the Motion Picture shows the original story of Kazuya selling his soul to the devil while Bloodline follows the Devil-Gene plot... but it's minor - and you're right that Heihachi and also Jun Kazama are written very similarly in both which is great.

  • @bxkid199
    @bxkid199 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    I definitely wanna see like a post season after this. Flush out the stories on the William sisters, law and Paul’s adventures, Xiayou and panda, Yoshimitsu whole origins, LEE and Hehachi prepare for Tekken 4, Eddy and Christie, Julia and her family, King and what he did with the orphanage money.
    Give us a season like that and then the next season be Tekken 4 then we can get characters like Steve and Christie come in, everyone randomly fighting while they flush out the main story with the Mishima’s
    But overall I completely love all that they did!! Story was very well put together 💯🙌🏽

    • @AlleywayJack
      @AlleywayJack  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      100% agree. Aside from subplots with other characters Lee Chaolan has the potential to be a very interesting character because of his proximity to Kazuya and Heihachi's story.

    • @bxkid199
      @bxkid199 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AlleywayJack seriously. What made Tekken stand out from all the other fighting games is finding out what endings are cannon and which are not that gets moved to the other game. Besides the Mishima’s I would love to get a cannon explanation to why Nina and Anna keep fighting each other. If Anna recognizes Steve as her nephew, Or since Nina and Anna took that chronic sleep together, since Nina got pregnant what about Anna? The can definitely introduce Anna’s child and it could be a thing.
      In closing there is a argument anime has the potential to be a mainstream success like a Naruto or DBZ if done right. The story and franchise for the people are there so I’m preying it is

    • @AlleywayJack
      @AlleywayJack  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@bxkid199 I also love Nina and Anna's feud as a subplot and it's featured in the games from the beginning so has run almost as long as the Mishima feud. I don't remember if there's a reason given for their feud but I remember an early ending FMV where they're at their father's grave so maybe something to do with this

    This is actually how I felt as well. However I understood it a little differently and I am probably wrong on this but I thought it was Heihachi's dogged determination use of anger that helped Jin ultimately defeat ogre. That Jin needed actually both disciplines to come out victorious. This is what I liked most. Had Jin followed his mother's path he would have lost and had Jin forgotten his mother's path in favor of Heihachi's teachings he would have lost also.

    This was EPIC. It came out of NOWHERE. I never heard about it, I NEVER saw or heard about a trailer. Just BOOM Sunday night, TEKKEN BLOODLINE. And I'm a 90's kid. I remember Tekken 1 and being able to jump like the distance of a football kick over other characters with dope sound and choppy backgrounds. Tekken 2 where they started introducing the characters, intro, story.
    Tekken 3 where Tekken took the fighting game crown, and so for them to make a series with it's baseline in Tekken 3. I agree with you on everything. More characters needed, more characters fleshed out. I mean WHERE was my Bryan Fury?! :D But I saw it all in one go, I was on the edge of my seat the whole way. Fun thing about that is, knowing and remembering the games you know EXACTLY where the story is gonna lead, and you're still a 10/10 EXCITED ABOUT IT! AMAZING!!!

    I can't wait for Season 2! In my opinion, Tekken Bloodline is the right approach to bring the game to the big screen. Season 1 was amazing; I binged all six episodes. I also liked the depth they gave to Paul. As you mentioned, he's not just a veteran, but he can also tell Jin something about Kazuya. I also appreciate that Jin is consciously searching for his father. That's a detail that wasn't emphasized as much in the games. It makes it even more dramatic that Kazuya sees Jin more as a competitor and doesn't build a real relationship with him (something I completely miss in the games, but what can you expect?).
    It's intriguing that all the participants and even Heihachi himself confirm what a terrible person Kazuya is to Jin. I'm curious to see what the writers will do with this foreshadowing. And whether they will explore Kazuya's interest in Jun and possibly even her alleged death.
    I LOVE the different Intros to each episode.
    As for the other Tekken adaptations, I won't discuss them. They never happened :D Except for the anime from the 90s. I recently watched that again. I agree that it was the best adaptation of the series so far.

    Something I liked about the choreography was how block-heavy it was. Jin and Heihachi would frequently push forward with their assaults (owing to Mishima philosophy) and their opponents would have their dukes up like a wall to block them as they came in while not necessarily being able to counter-attack. That's exactly what Tekken gameplay looks like; this series, I feel, did a much better job of capturing how fights move in Tekken and how everyone has a different style, whereas the live-action movie had everyone fight the same save for Eddie and Yoshi. It's been forever since I saw the 97 movie, but it looks like some key moves made it into the story but also relied on nondescript punches at times...And I can't remember anything about the fighting in Bloodline Rebellion besides the three-way fight being ambitious and involving a giant Mokujin.
    Point is, I really like this show's choreography, heh heh.

      Yeah I do like shows that don't need too much time investment so was mostly satisfied, but agree they could have opened up at least one secondary story here to continue later - e.g. Nina Williams and Anna, or Hwoarangs history with Baek , or even showing flashbacks to previous tournaments around Kazuya/Heihachi or something. I guess they just really wanted to establish Jin and his arc between light-and-dark before developing the show further.

    It was generous/kind how they included Xiaoyu and added Paul to their group(Jin+Howrang+Xiaoyu). I wonder how she fits into the next game. Maybe the conclusion is that someone with Divine power, like Jun/Asuka, plays a role to which Jin doesn't kill Kazuya but destroys the Devil Gene. Because like she(Jun) appeared in Tekken 4 she won't let him go through that.

    You don't need to be the biggest Tekken fan or know the history of the series to enjoy it. I thought it looked nice, animated well, and I enjoyed the fights.
    Really well done and I hope more fighting game series are adapted by the same studios involved here.
    And... Tekken 8 looks amazing from the little shown so far. Now if only Sega would start on a Virtua Fighter 6.

If they want to finish it, i'll watch, but i'm not gonnz give any credit to a team unable to give a finished product. Nobody should ever have such low standarts and praise people not giving a single shit about the consumer. Are we gonna praise Tekken 8 if there's no sound ? You just can't act like forgetting a massive part of every drawing is a detail. It's like a fighting game with shitty hitboxes. It's just not acceptable.

    The fight scenes and the dialogue need to be sped up. Yes, the moves are cool, but we don't need super slowing down for every move or combination. Also, the dialogues don't need that many dramatic pauses. There are way too many close ups to the faces instead of the full body fight choreography.
    Having said that, I was looking forward to seeing it and it was fine. Was it amazing? No...

    I wouldn't really say the inherent absurdity of video games go againts the nature of live action movies. Plenty of live action movies have their fair share of absurd settings. Also it's bizzare that you think this anime is newcomer friendly considering how much information it skips over assuming you know the lore.
