Ultra. I've owned every gen watch (Minus Gen 8), the Ultra is something special.

Brandon, thank you for this video. This is great. I have a question that I haven’t been able to get fully answered on other videos. Could you please do an in-depth video on how to use focus mode or focus is in general? It seems like when I set up a sleep focus, and everything indicates that I will not get disturbed with alerts, etc., I still get disturbed. Focuses just don’t seem to work for me. Can you help?
Just got this over the weekend. Love the flashlight for the shortcut button. Especially waking up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom lol
Just upgraded from Apple Watch Series 5 to the ultra. 10/10 recommend, would do it again. It is an absolute GAME changer, I run 30+ miles every week and this things battery goes all day at work and into the next days before I even need to think about charging.
I like your shortcut for the action button, but how to I change it to open my work out app during the day?
My wife bought me the Ultra for my birthday replacing my version 3 so it is quite the upgrade. The version 3 still works, though the battery is not what it once was and my wife said it was looking a little too worn. I wish the Wayfinder watch face had the option to adjust the color to red by the ambient light sensor or at least by time of day. Not a major deal but it would have been a nice option. I am overall very impressed with the AWU. The larger screen and longer battery life are all significant improvements to how I use the Apple Watch.
To me, it’s one of my favorite things apple has introduced in a long time that wasn’t brand new.

The action button shortcut trick is cute but now the Workout option is not available? Isn’t it possible to schedule it to workout at some times?

I’ve noticed the raise to wake seems a lot more responsive than it was on my series 4. I noticed that when going into low power mode the other day

Hey Brandon, I just purchased a Watch Ultra and searched on YT for tips. Came across your excellent video, and I have to say that your Action Button Shortcut is a game changer! Thanks so much 🙏🏾
Hey Brandon. About the auto red screen: 1- set a second cloned watchscreen and turn it red manually.
2- go to SLEEP settings on the phone and set a specific watchscreen for the watch.
3- select the red cloned watchface
4- the screen will change automatically to the second red watchface

I just got my ultra and it’s not nearly as bright as yours.
Checking the display brightness shows that it’s as high as it goes.
Is there something else that I need to do or do I need to exchange it?
I use my action button for the flashlight. I use it every night to shine into the mailbox. Love it. Plenty of light.
Brandon, your videos are fantastic. I consistently gain fresh and valuable insights. I appreciated your suggestion regarding using Focus mode with multiple displays. I experimented with it during Sleep mode to switch to a new watch face in Dark Mode red. However, the watch face didn't revert to the default when I deactivated Sleep mode. Do you happen to know what steps I should take to return to the default watch face?
I got the Ultra in April, I got a big scratch in my Watch 7 glass and I have a normal watch with sapphire glass and I already know how scratch resistant it is. I love the flat face. Also I like the two day battery life.
I like the red watch face.
My orange button is set to get a waypoint, but I haven’t used it much yet, it’s winter now.

Have you hit something on the watch? I didn’t crack the screen, but I’ve come close to it while at work. An have you had your watch just not show the display screen??? Like it goes blank black screen and won’t show anything on the screen. I’m eventually going to have them replace it, but I am trying to save up for another Ultra Watch and have the one not working return it after I get my new one.

I had a Series 4 44mm and the band fits perfectly, no need for it to be a 45mm
this is exactly the video I was looking for before purchasing an Ultra 2. All the other videos just state what is already available on Apple's website: it can be used as a flashlight, it has an action button, but not how good they are and some creative ways those can be used.
for the wayfinder face, you can turn it automatically to red, just by activating night mode on the display 🙂 ... but thanks for the video, very informative
When i tried to do a shortcut, it had options for example, hey google, or check in at walmart, not sure if im doing something wrong, niether will work.
I upgraded from a s3 to an Ultra in January because I wanted the long battery life and was tired of getting little micro scratches that were just noticeable to be annoying. I was also feeling like I was missing out on the new watchOS features.

Simply put a case on all your devices HOOM no scratches on anything
And now you have it and realize it’s still a stupid watch and you don’t use any new features.

Hello Brandon, I am one of your subscribers and have always enjoyed your videos and your attention to detail. I have a question about the Apple Watch ultra 2: Do I need to activate the water lock on the watch before going into the pool?
Ultra will be my first Apple Watch so hopefully I will like it, I just don’t know if I should bring it to work because I work in construction and I’m not very carful and I get really dirty
My everyday watch is a Tissot T-Touch Solar connect, I like it because it does a lot of gshock mud master stuff but still looking dressy. I’m a stay home dad now.. I want something basic. Is an Apple Watch still as disposable? Like if I go hike, would that Apple Watch work the next day?

I’ve had my Apple Watch ultra for a few months now and I’m so in love it. I love the action button I use it for workouts. I love the emergency siren but I haven’t had to use it and the battery life is so much better compare to my previous Series 7

Just got mine yesterday. The dim light mode is really terrible. My old apple watch 3 is far more bright in dim and fully dark ness. This is terrible. I am sure its for battery life. but Its horrible. I hope they fix that..
I wish there was a way to set the haptics to prominent alerts automatically when I enter sleep mode. I’m on call sometimes and I miss alerts even if the person that sends me the message is someone I have set to allow notifications from. I was hoping there would be a shortcut, but doesn’t look like there is one.

I can not believe 6 months flew by like that
i’m debating whether or not to get an ultra or to get a series 9 (when it probably comes out) in september. only reason i debate is because i work as a mechanic and the strength of the ultra sounds very nice in the environment that i work in, but i’m not sure if the series 9 with an aftermarket case will suffice.
Based on the leaks I've seen, the ultra will probably get an update this year too. I'm sure a case would be enough to protect the series 8/9. I once hit the ground hard with my series 7 and it didn't even break the screen (but it did get some scratches). One nice thing about having a somewhat cheaper Apple watch is that you don't have to worry as much about scratches.
I will probably get the ultra 2 just because of the larger screen and battery life. That being said, I absolutely love my series 7 and I think the regular Apple watch is a better choice than the ultra for most people.
I work in a grocery store, stocking, cashiering, moving product all with my hands. My Ultra Watch is awesome. I got it last year for Christmas and I can't identify not one single scratch. I dropped it twice and have banged it accidentally many many times-and not even a scratch. Get the Ultra, so worth it. I've seen guards for them, so get one to give you even more piece of mind. Nightstand Mode should show the time continuously without having to touch it.
If you do not have background heart rate measurements on because of low power mode, do you get credit for less calories since your watch can’t tell how active you’re being? Since I am using Apple Watch to track calories burned so I know how much to eat this food matters a lot to me.
I believe you still do. I've done several workouts while in LPM and haven't noticed a discrepancy in data. Will try again over the next couple days to be sure though
@@BrandonButch I think it does during workouts, but not in the background when you’re not working out. That’s what I’m concerned with. Apple Watch still calculates active calories when not working out via background heart rate readings. That was my understanding anyway.

Does using low power mode constantly reduce battery cap over time?
If anything it would preserve it, since it would put less cycles on the battery. Less use equals less wear and tear and less battery capacity loss.

Series 8 didn’t impress me much…..Low Power Mode made me keep my trusty Series 7, hopefully Series 9 will be more interesting!

Daily coaching is mostly fine but a bit much if I am really sick or recovering the day after a major event. When I was sick with the flu, my watch would daily tell me, “You can still do it!” and I’m just thinking lol I should not though 😂

How you keep that alpine band in such good condition. Everyone keeps talking about how it wears with time.
If the speaker on my series 4 wasn't broken, I wouldn't be upgrading in the near future. Hence the reason I'm here researching. But if I can repair that speaker, I imagine I could get at least 2 more years out of it if not a little more.
Flipping the screen to night mode (all red display) saves battery power! 'Raise to Speak' uses battery power! I turn that off.
I've never had Raise to Speak activate when I didn't want it to, so I keep it on!
I have watched a durability test and the screen just wouldn't shatter on this watch and I think Appletrack did the video. They wacked it off every hard object they could think of. I put my old Series 4 to the test and the screen didn't crack at all.
Anyone else having battery drain issues on the Ultra after the latest update? I used to get 2 days easily but now I barely make it to the 2nd day
Omg YES. It got a little better after I disabled that clean energy setting but still not the same as before…

To charge the Ultra insanely fast I turn on airplane mode & low power mode. It charges way faster for some reason

Purchase the Ultra and put it Low Power Mode, therefore removing most of your sensors and functionality for a little extra battery. Sounds smahhhht.
