Being able to attach yurts together is the real selling point. Especially if you have a family. You can have a bathroom and laundry combo room and a master bedroom etc.
Meghan, this is beautiful. When I taught in a Montessori school in New Mexico, we used to take our kids on an end-of-year field trip. For two or three years we went to the country hacienda of a woman who regularly opened it to student groups like ours. It was unforgettable for all of us. On your place, the children could learn about how to live sustainably and creatively. I’d encourage you to consider helping prepare the next generation in your special and valuable way! Best of luck with this wonderful life!
I love the circular concept, well prefer anything not square😀 would be happy to work there if I didn't live in Australia. And anyone who grows sunflowers gets my vote!
This is a dream of mine. I admire what you have created in nature . The Yurts , nature and garden I treasure are Beautiful! I can almost feel the calmness, peacefulness wash over me from the natural, artistic environment you have provided for others . Thank you for sharing this unique space in Nature.
I used to think of Yurts as a big tent. But I have to say after seeing one personally they are a lot more durable and sturdy than you would think. I love the space and flexibility they offer. She showed how different they can be stylized. Great Job. Thanks for sharing.
Love her down-to-earth and can-do attitude! All the beautiful family antiques in the yurts give such a homey feel...those shell-back dining room chairs? Swoooon-worthy for sure. Also, shout-out to Estes Park, Meghan...I spent a lot of time there over the years...I remember it long before there were chain restaurants or the Safeway grocery store. Let's all try to go back to simpler times and be good stewards of the land, yes. She has the right idea!
Beautiful. I lived in my own 24 foot yurt ( also in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada ) while building my cob home. I loved it and once the cob was built and we were happily ensconced within, I went ahead and put up a 16' foot yurt as a Woman's Temple space. Such a gorgeous time I had there!
The yurt is a kind of mobile house of the Mongolian people in my hometown. Now most of the herdsmen are separated from this kind of house. In Inner Mongolia, China, because of the economic development, it is difficult to realize the life of integrating into nature. Wealth and freedom are the pursuit of many people. In the United States, you have a kind of pastoral culture. Most of us Chinese yearn for big city life, so it is difficult to realize this kind of yurt life. You said corn cob house. It is an ancient technology in China and has been eliminated at present. He was roughly crushed by corn straw, loess, glutinous rice, eggs
In the ancient city walls of China, the tombs of ancient nobles all used triad. For details, you can search for ancient buildings or tombs in Shaanxi and Shanxi in China on the oil pipeline. There is a saying in China that it is reasonable that we can let the West learn for several years by looking for the technology of our ancestors. Ancient China experienced various civilizations, but lacked industrial civilization. Therefore, you can search for food and architecture, and many of them were passed down from China.
@@TinyHouseExpedition Hello!! Actually, I sold the property, traveled, moved to Brooklyn for a while, and am now awaiting the arrival of my Tiny Home in November...right back here in the same sweet Sierra Nevada foothills town! Dig her vibe. The discussion around the speed of life and how products do that to us…..has me thinking and very much agree. Strong and positive soul. Appreciated this video.
Thanks for the kind feedback Brenda! We do agree with her that all the marketing we’re inundated with, plus culture that values hustle, keeps the daily pace super fast. But it’s in the slow moments you have to reflect and enjoy simple pleasures ❤️
Tick tick tick tick tock shortens attention span that seeks rapid sprints of stimulation. The brain is Franticly firing . She is chill yet very engaged most directly with the earths seasons. Thanks for showing us around.
Thanks for the tour of your Yurt Landia homestead. I like the fact that yurts can really be a safe haven, and how the stewardship attitude helps in the beauty and creativity that just flow out a sense of success. "You go girl"!!
Very cool. I'd love to have a space like that to be able to host meditations, workshops, drum circles, & community gatherings. Ya, that would be very cool. Because the kitchen is right there...there could be potlucks, dinner parties, board game nights with healthy snacks....all kinds of idea. I love that she has the Farm to table place. I wish her lots and tons of happiness & success.
Meghan I think you are amazing. you have turned those simple yurts (lucky you) into beautiful non cluttered homes. I love your lounge spaces and the trellis and ceiling woodwork. Only 2 weeks of hot summer???....lucky you we have about 5-6 months in Western Australia...phew. Not sure I would want to live in California with your wildfires we hear so much about though...stay safe girl!! (BTW I didnt see any fire extinguishers or fire blankets in your yurts do you have them handy?? Thankyou for showing us your world...Yurtlandia its amazing. Your dog looks like she's been in the wars a bit did she have a run in with a wild critter? Your chickens...lucky girls, (we call them CHOOKS in Oz have a fabulous house of their own... Best $200K I've seen spent in a long time...thats half the price of a simple weatherboard cottage in country Oz on a 1/4 acre if you're lucky... 10 acres of heaven...cant get better than that!! All the best from Western Australia and thanks also to Alexis and Christian for finding you :)
Thank you for sharing! I love your philosophy in life. My dream is to have a small tiny house community. Where I can live in one tiny house and Airbnb the others. Or maybe just mix it up with a couple of Yurts. Watching your video makes me think, it's all possible.
Such an excellent video! Quite a few friends live in yurts in temperate climates, i think its totally underutalised way of living, cant wait to see more 😊 appreciate the clear explanations in this video, thank you
Feels like a yurt would make a great vacation home, my parents would definitely love it, although I'm worried about mold, wear and tear, natural cooling, and making sure it withstands all the typhoons we have per year because I live in the tropics. I chuckled when she mentioned the challenge of having a place to hang clothes at, and my lazy ass looked at all the trellis-looking structural support of the yurt 🤣
Pacific Yurts are definitely more substantial than you might think, and her main living yurt has been in use for over 20 years! There are certain kinds of yurt homes that come with more insulation and beefier structure, plus there are yurt cabins made of wood or SIPs.
Wow! 200k, 4 yurts, on 10 acres is a deal ANYWHERE, let alone in California. Braaaaaavo. Doing yurt research so we can possibly afford to live on the coast of the big island Hawaii.
She has a well. :) Unlike most households with 1+ toilets and a grassy lawn, the water she uses primarily waters her garden that feeds herself, her yurt renter, and supports her catering business. 👌
Sounds like it was repossessed was it repossessed property I mean who pays that little bit of money for that amount of what's the word acreage how could you have gotten it that you had to be repossessed right or foreclosure was it on foreclosure wow that is so fortunate for you that's lucky I feel like you could have used that foot I mean you had enough space to make a at least a bedroom in there you know but I guess it doesn't really matter you got all those extra ones are you ever going to insulate it this is what my question is because I've seen people put insulation in them and I've seen them put break up or drywall up on the inside which might be a cool idea

Seems she went the opposite direction of tiny house living. All that empty interior space seems useless. I'm going to assume there were renters living in the last one with all the clothing and personal stuff. Cool place, but also kinda weird.
Fair point. Her main living yurt is kept open so she can do retreats/workshops and host a group. The other 30-ft yurt is occupied and really optimizes the space well, we think. 😁

You can always put what up around the yurt to make it more enclosed it doesn't have to be held together by that that cloth like it's not cloth like what is it it's some sort of material I don't know where it is made out of but I've seen people where they put insulation around and then they added wood or and or they used drywall which I hate drywall so I wouldn't even suggest these drywall bit these are awesome I freaking love this

she has a dry toilet because she wants to save water, yet she was watering her lawn. LOL
Well most homeowners have a flush toilet (or 2 or 3) and water the lawn, so i would wager she is still saving quite bit of water 🙃

What about mold issues? I mean canvas when it gets wet can mold.
Good question! Hopefully Meghan will pop over here to answer you 😊
Haven’t had any issues with mold, fairly dry climate here… think it would be a different story in a more humid climate! Thanks for watching!
The fabrics that we use are not actually canvas and do not contain cotton, so they are not prone to mold or mildew.
Are they only good for warmer climates or do they work in colder climates as well??
They can work for both, depending on the type you purchase but maybe best all around for temperate climates. Learn more: www.yurts.com/
