    Vehicle Virgins reviews the 1965 shelby GT350. This was honestly the most fun car I've ever driven!

    Looks like a bunch of you noticed the car did a one wheel burnout! The GT350 actually has a Detroit locker diff but the owner said it wasn't fully functioning at the time. Hence the one tire fire!

      +Vehicle Virgins I caught it, was wondering if wrong diff setup was installed during restoration, thanks for clarifying.Also, those brakes need plenty of leg power and heat to work effectively(from my understanding) as they are non-assisted disc/drums with sintered metallic pads and shoes on the original GT350s

      I'd like to see you do more reviews on older muscle cars, like 80s-90s cars because they are cheaper and usually good buys for new people, i picked up a 97 firebird for 2k with only 90k miles
      as youve stated in several of your videos, this channel was started for new buyers, why not go back to your roots and explore every type of car and list pros and cons for each genre, youve got the classic ricer cars, amarican muscle, and every day family cars so going back to the roots and showing videos like this, with your reaction to how they drive will help new buyers with the decision making

      Yeah, I agree. I have a '95 Mustang Cobra. It is affordable, reliable, super fun, and can be really fast if set up right.Right now I can pick up a low mile '99 Trans Am WS6 fairly cheap.

    The fact that you liked this car more than most cars you ever driven, especially the new ones... you just earned some credibility to me. And that you notice it's faults and still love it tells me you're a true car guy. This car has soul without a doubt. To think I thought you just were some teeny bopper with money. I was wrong. I love this car so soooooo much. Subscribed. Keep it coming.

      ***** The reason why many are unable to find well-paying jobs and pay-off their loans is often because millennials major in "easy" areas with little market value (e.g women's studies, english, philosophy). It's their fault that they decided to effectively pursue a hobby in college rather than study what the free market is asking for-STEM fields.

    The brakes on 65 GT-350's came with sintered metal pads, which require a lot more pressure on the pedal. They don't fade and work best when warmed up. The proper brakes are Kelsey Hayes 11.3" discs with 4 piston calipers up front and drums out back off a full size Ford Galaxy wagon.

    Just another FYI, the steering ratio was exactly the same as all HIPO (AKA K Code) Mustangs...the quick ratio steering box was a Hipo standard equipment item. Also they had disc brakes in front and over sized Ford Galaxy Drum Brakes in the rear...I also had those on my real '65 Hipo with the Shelby mods...when the brakes were properly setup they stopped pretty good, but you had to stand on them to make them stop...obviously they were NOT power brakes.

    • @alanhardman2447
      @alanhardman2447 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      NOT Galaxie brakes - they were sourced from the Fairlane V-8 wagons and were 2-1/2" X 10" in size. The bigger Galaxies had 2" or 2-1/4" X 11" brakes.

    • @stevefowler1787
      @stevefowler1787 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alan Hardman I stand corrected...yes they were from the '63 fairlane V8 wagons to be specific....thanx for that catch...I luv talking about the "old" Fords...btw I had Jim Cowles rear brake kits on my '65 Hipo 2+2...they were refurbished original parts...$$ but then again so were all the NOS parts it takes to bring a high performance car back to period specs....I had over $8K in my engine alone after the many NOS parts built and blueprinted.

    For the record, these GT350’s had the same quarter mile times as the 2005-2010 Mustang V6’s. 15.3 to 15.1 seconds. That’s also about as fast as a stock 2024 Civic Si. I bring this to you to you to say fast is relative and subjective, and what really matters is the enjoyment a car brings you

  • @sfm5s

    Not sure what is up with the one wheeled burnout that started this video but the GT-350's came with a 3.89:1 Detroit Locker differential in the Ford 9 inch rear end so all burnouts would have both wheels burning rubber...just sayin (an old Ford guy who owned a '65 K Code, AKA Hipo, Mustang that had all the non cosmetic Shelby mods, including the Detroit locker rear end).

  • @yellow351mustang
    @yellow351mustang 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    While 60's brakes will never be comparable to today's brakes. I remember people having GT350's back in the 70's. They always would say, "These come stock with racing brakes and are designed to run at higher heat than on the streets. You always have to warm up the brakes when you first start driving. Otherwise they don't stop very well when they are cold." Guys would literally drag the brakes for the first couple of miles of driving to get heat built up in them.

      I honestly wouldn't give a shit about the brakes on car like that... I mean... it's 40+ years old and the brakes weren't even good then... but like Parker said in his video - it's all about the driving experience in these amazing cars!

    First gen mustangs were pretty light. Their goal was under 2,500 when they designed it. Even with all the plastic modern cars weigh more.

    You called the Mustang a "sports car"
    It's a sedan, the Shelby is a sports car.
    Sedans have a backseat and sports cars don't.

    not a bad review considering some young punk that did not grow up in that time of learning how to manhandle the old muscle cars when that was all there was. as far as the brakes keep a good look ahead watch for trouble and if you have some unforeseen obstacle downshift let the clutch out hard find a hole to swerve thru use your leg muscles. then get back into her and raise hell. thats the way i did it and i always had a beer between my legs.

    Get the owner to take you for a drive and get the engine above 4000 rpms. You never got anywhere near the power peak in the video.

    nothing like a classic 60's muscle car!! no matter how many modern sports cars I've driven there is no comparison to a classic. the smell of gas, loud exhaust, and smile it brings to your face every drive. just can't compare to modern cars, each have there positives, thats why i own both :)
