    I met a woman with a 2012 Boss 302. She was 82 years old. I asked her if she would ever sell it, or if age makes the car less enjoyable for daily driving. She told me her husband tries to get her to get rid of it, but she'll NEVER sell her Mustang. It absolutely lit a fire in my heart, and I'll never forget seeing an 82 year old woman smoke the tires in a Boss 302 while leaving the dollar tree parking lot. One of the most incredible things I've ever seen.

    I'm 17 and my first car was my 16th birthday present, a 1994 Cherokee SE. lots of miles, not much to look at but very reliable. Of course i'm a car freak, so i had to put in a cold air intake, Magnaflow 3" exhaust and a 2" lift (proper, no extra leafs) and it gets me to school and back while sounding nice. however i wish the mileage was better than 15, but oh well.

    The BMW engine is smooth, but the GT500 has more hp/tq at lower rpms. Yes both cars have great top end performance, but if more hp/tq is put down sooner one is going to get a head a lot faster then the other (playing catchup is hard at speed). A good way to look at it is the 0-60 and or even better the 0-100 times of each car. That will give you an idea of who will be ahead at that point. Again..both will reach great top ends..it just who will get to their invidual terminal velocity first.

      Ford sells almost half their Mustang GTs with a manual transmission.
      I rented a 2019 Mustang with the 10-speed slushbox everyone talks about, and that transmission computer is every bit as dumb as the critics say. So when I bought my own Mustang, I got a clutch.

    Why doesn't Ford continue to build GTs? I think it could be America's #1 sports/supercar if they continued to update/upgrade it. I'm a Chevy guy, but I love the Ford GT. If i could have 3 cars, it would be the new Stingray, the new Z28 and a Ford GT.
    They used to call the Ford GT "the ferrari killer" in the 60's. I think it would be good for the overall reputation of American supercars if they had a new model version. Then would America would have the Vette, Viper, and GT competing against what Europe and Japan could offer.

      Force Times Distance Equals ? Torque It is better, even though it has less horsepower it's more aerodynamic and lighter weight. If you don't believe it, do a bit of research. To be fair to dodge Demon is faster than GT500 though.

    • @hmackprotection1
      @hmackprotection1 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      John Herbold, you’re incorrect..I don’t need to “look into it”..I love the Trinity 5.8L Shelby GT500, but it is NOT “better” than a HC, & I’m not saying that because I’m a HC owner. The curb weight of the 500 is the one & ONLY thing I wish the HC had. Other than that the HC’s Interior is lightyears better, the brakes on the HC is better, the cooling system of the HC is more efficient, the transmission’S in the HC are better, the IRS in the HC is so superior to the Live rear axle of the 500 it’s not even funny..
      You MUST get off of the internet, & go drive a HC Challenger, & go drive a 500, then make a real decision..stop bench racing online, & stop taking your friends words as gospel when it comes to performance cars.
      I’m giving you a REAL WORLD honest opinion from someone who’s driven both cars..the 13-14 Shelby is an incredible machine, & it is very fast (matter of fact car for car the 500 is virtually just as fast as the Challenger HC), but The ride quality, & the brake feel could’ve been better..the Challenger HC has one of the best ride qualities of any production American performance cars Ever. The seats, the infotainment system, the tech package are incredible. The ACTUAL power, & Torque of the HC’s engine far surpasses what you think it would feel like! Yes the advertised HP is 707, & the TQ is supposedly 650, but there’s a reason that Bone Stock HC’s dyno at 650-670 Wheel HP, & 600-615 Wheel TQ, because the true crank #’s are closer to 760hp/710tq..the only compliment I personally have about the HC is that they should’ve came equipped with 20x11front wheel wrapped in 305/35/20’s, & a 20x12 rear wheel wrapped in 335/35/20’s (not 305’s, not 315’s, but yes 335’s on the rear)..
      Do yourself a favor, & don’t even mention the 13-14 500 in the same Breath as a Demon. Stock for stock the Demon is a purpose built Drag Strip Monster that will embarrass any stock 13-14 500..you can definitely mode a 500 to run faster than the Demon, but hell you can mod a Honda Civic to run faster than a Demon too

    • @santos25fulable
      @santos25fulable 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      kalex214, for your sake I hope you’re correct, because for some reason you’re way to wrapped up emotionally into the mustang..believe it or not, there’s more than enough room for all performance car.

      +1 I used to like ford ´couse they always were a step forwar on american cars, specialy whit the Ford GT ....but ther were so behind, was time to "catch" the Z28. Dont havin IRS its just an excuse for "lazyness" from the company

    • @KenShao
      @KenShao 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So it's pretty much throw in an IRS and sacrifice the looks of the Car (not really that tough looking anymore (compared to the 2014), looks more like a Ford Fusion 2.0 with a Mustang Logo when looking from the front)

    • @SirJamesDTech
      @SirJamesDTech 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Something had to be done. The way it looked before was great, but the Mustang has been a crap car for a lot of years now...same as just about every American car. Anything other than a straight line and it was useless.

    • @williampeterson985
      @williampeterson985 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      KenShao do a search and watch some videos. I can't remember every detail but:
      Full motion independent suspension, and not the McPherson front strut assy, complete redesign similar to the old FN-10/MN-12 chassis. The '03-'04 terminator had the "thrown in IRS", this is all new everything.
      All new chassis
      Lower profile
      wider
      more powerful
      full feature interior with upholstered surfaces.

    • @johnk7851
      @johnk7851 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Independent rear suspension may be good for the ride, but off the line and dragging, the wheels can skip and hop. Hopefully that will be properly addressed, otherwise leave it alone. Read reviews of the IRS ATV's, they ride OK on rough trails but are no fun as its harder to control burn outs and slides. This comes from a previous Cobra owner and current BMW M5 owner.

    I've never been a mustang fan. I grew up in a UAW home, my dad worked at Oldsmobile. Funny, even though he worked for GM, he was a ford guy, I was a chevy guy. Well, that was back in the early 70's. Fast forward; it's now 2016. I've recently purchased a '16 mustang gt. It's 5x's the car the camaro ever thought of being. Hats off to ford. They finally became legend with this new body style, motor, and balance. The mustang can finally sit at the "big people's table"..come any holiday.

      Automatic test well, in emissions and gas mileage testing, because the manufacturers know everything about the test, and the more things are controlled electronically the better they can game the system.

But nowadays they are just too old, abused and somehow still overpriced for what they are, and the interiors are definitely dated. After Driving both the Camaro 1LE and the Boss 302, I can conclude that the Boss was definitely more "punchier" in throttle response and more fun to drive. Although the Recaro seats in the Camaro did seem to hold you in a bit more for some reason?
    Both great cars though and I did ultimately want the 1LE because it seemed more prestigious and track ready. Unfortunately financial reasons at the time prohibited me from getting it, I plan on waiting for the 2015 mustang or 6th generation camaro, which ever seems more appealing to me.
    P.S. I don't understand all this "brand" loyalty, just get a car that YOU enjoy. After all your going to be the one driving it home at the end of the day, and paying that dreaded monthly payment. Get what you like regardless of what anyone tells you. Though these arguments between Chevy and Ford owners due spark rivalry and war which overall generate a better car for us enthusiast to take home :)

      Vladpryde Because thats the whole persona of the "Mustang" name. Big,Loud, fast V8. That's why i hate the new mustangs with the V6 option and the new 4 cylinder turbo. Great motors in any other car but not the mustang. The Ford GT's persona revolves around being the best street legal racing car that Ford can make so putting a Twin Turbo 3.5L V6 is a super smart thing to do, in the GT. Keep that motor away from the mustang.

    The comparison between the 306 HP of the 65 GT350 vs. the 444 of the 2013 Boss 302 is more than the numbers seem to indicate. The 65 was rated as gross HP (crankshaft HP, without the losses like the alternator, water pump, powertrain, and other factors deducted), not SAE Net HP like today's cars. Generally, to convert old gross HP of the 60's to SAE Net, multiply by 70-75%. So in effect, the old Hi-Po 289 made about 195 SAE Net HP vs. the 444 of the 2013. So even if you own a stock 66 427 Fairlane (425 gross HP), you aren't going to stand a chance against the 2013 Boss 302. The new Boss can probably match a stock 64 Thunderbolt in the quarter mile, which was Ford's 500+ HP top lightweight A/FX factory drag race car.

    I'd say the Boss 302 is better because the Shelby is 662hp but the brakes on it aren't really strong enough to stop it, personally I would get the Boss 302, put the Roush Supercharger kit on it and it would be almost if not just as fast as the Shelby, plus it would handle better on the road and track.
