I met a woman with a 2012 Boss 302. She was 82 years old. I asked her if she would ever sell it, or if age makes the car less enjoyable for daily driving. She told me her husband tries to get her to get rid of it, but she'll NEVER sell her Mustang. It absolutely lit a fire in my heart, and I'll never forget seeing an 82 year old woman smoke the tires in a Boss 302 while leaving the dollar tree parking lot. One of the most incredible things I've ever seen.

@@billybill7871 yeah the 2020 Mustang GT500 doesn't need that 7 speed DCT, it needs manual transmission like what they did with GT350 or maybe manual option
And yet no one seems to want a manual transmission anymore. Manuals may still exist but it will only be available for the 5% of the population who still want a manual transmission.
@@johnnymason2460 "No one wants a manual any more" for the last 30 years. 🙄 First of all, you need to qualify that with "in the USA". Ford sells almost half their Mustang GTs with a manual transmission. I rented a 2019 Mustang with the 10-speed slushbox everyone talks about, and that transmission computer is every bit as dumb as the critics say. So when I bought my own Mustang, I got a clutch.
I thought I only wanted a Boss 302, now I want a Boss 302 along with a Shelby GT500. Kudos to Ford for getting both right, and to Jay for another great video!

I decided to go Ford.. no bailout.. and because its such an iconic car with so much racing History... Bought my 2013 GT with Track Pack... very happy camper here. Thanks for making such a great product.
Why doesn't Ford continue to build GTs? I think it could be America's #1 sports/supercar if they continued to update/upgrade it. I'm a Chevy guy, but I love the Ford GT. If i could have 3 cars, it would be the new Stingray, the new Z28 and a Ford GT. They used to call the Ford GT "the ferrari killer" in the 60's. I think it would be good for the overall reputation of American supercars if they had a new model version. Then would America would have the Vette, Viper, and GT competing against what Europe and Japan could offer.
My mother owns a 1994 Festiva. She bought it almost brand new (1995). Every time I see the Shogun, I laugh to myself, because hers is such a little dinky, slow car. But man, is the engine reliable. Still running strong all these years later.
What a work of art! I could buy it, park it in my garage and just sit and stare at it for the rest of my life. Well maybe go burn the tires up once on a while. Ya know to get the bugs out.
Same situation. In college as well... When I'm out of college, & when the engine & transmission is out, I think I'm going to swap out the 3.8 for a 4.0 or 5.0. It's my first Mustang & I love to death. I don't even let anyone touch the car when it's waxed. For now it's awesome to own it, the exhaust is incredible for a V6. oh and the looks of envy I get from girls are priceless! The guys face are just evil... But yeah I plan on keeping it for a long time!
What a beautiful car. Honestly one of my dream cars. I just hope Ford doesn't loose their way and start creating some crappy cars. So far so good, the GT350 is a beast, and I hope the new GT500 will be a true successor.
Theres something so lovable about the mustangs all of em 65-2024 they have so much charm and ford is still changing them up a lot and making updates i do miss the manual gt500s though

Jay are you getting a 2015 Shelby GT350?! I'd love to see you bring in a Shelby specialist to talk about it almost as much as seeing you shred the tires!!
For someone that was also 14 when the mustang came out, I can tell you, it was exactly like Jay said. Another thing, it is great to hear an engineer say foot pounds. That is the correct term and always has been, not pound feet. Some guy in England said that term on television and now people think he must be right.
I can just imagine the trouble I would get myself into with that car. 2014 GT500 in Deep Impact Blue is my new dream car (replacing the 2004 Terminator Cobra in Screaming Yellow).
Definitely, I would love to have one in my garage if I was stupid rich. But nowadays they are just too old, abused and somehow still overpriced for what they are, and the interiors are definitely dated. You can either get a 11 year old Cobra with 70k miles and 390 hp for $20k or get a 2011 Coyote with 30k miles and 412 hp for $22k.
Just got my 2021 gt500 and it's a magnificent car. But I also have a 2013 gt500 and it's so much fun to drive. It's a monster even left as stock. Great job ford.
+1 I used to like ford ´couse they always were a step forwar on american cars, specialy whit the Ford GT ....but ther were so behind, was time to "catch" the Z28. Dont havin IRS its just an excuse for "lazyness" from the company
So it's pretty much throw in an IRS and sacrifice the looks of the Car (not really that tough looking anymore (compared to the 2014), looks more like a Ford Fusion 2.0 with a Mustang Logo when looking from the front)
Something had to be done. The way it looked before was great, but the Mustang has been a crap car for a lot of years now...same as just about every American car. Anything other than a straight line and it was useless.
KenShao do a search and watch some videos. I can't remember every detail but: Full motion independent suspension, and not the McPherson front strut assy, complete redesign similar to the old FN-10/MN-12 chassis. The '03-'04 terminator had the "thrown in IRS", this is all new everything. All new chassis Lower profile wider more powerful full feature interior with upholstered surfaces.
Independent rear suspension may be good for the ride, but off the line and dragging, the wheels can skip and hop. Hopefully that will be properly addressed, otherwise leave it alone. Read reviews of the IRS ATV's, they ride OK on rough trails but are no fun as its harder to control burn outs and slides. This comes from a previous Cobra owner and current BMW M5 owner.
its funny how the camera dont show under the hood very long. I see one at work in our show room and I have to stop every and stare at it. The motor on this car is soo amazing to look at words cant describe it. 50K seams like alot of money but you get a car that kicks soo much ass. You can spend 35 40 on a new truck and nobody says a word but 50k on a car like this is crazy I think not. I would love to own the one at work.
the new Z28 is a ripoff. 77K with air conditioning and radio included. 75K without it. the only innovative thing about it is the breaks and the LS7 engine.
This show has seriously made me rethink how I feel about Jay Leno. Ive honestly never liked Jay due to the whole Tonight show fiasco and just him as a talk show host in general turned me off. But this show really brings out his true passion. I wish he had just done this all along. When I watch this show I really like him and he just does a bloody good job.
Clearly the horsepower wars of the 60s were just skirmishes compared to what we have now. Sooner or later there will be an ultimate. Wonder what it'll be.
Happy to say I make these cars everyday! Thanks Jay for such a nice reveiw on our cars. I also wish I had one but like most I have a house & kids so maybe one day but to those how can afford one & have got one Thanks for supporting me & my family & Ford Motor Company..
Boogey man what? besides the fact that it has forged cams, ported heads different valve springs and a completely forged bottom end...you sir are bugging out the 302 motor is capable of holding over 800wheel where as the regular 5oh about 600-650
Thank you for not disrespecting Ford and Chevy. Even though you are not a fan of them in particular, you still respect them and don't talk smack. In return I as a Ford fan, respect you as a dodge fan and all mopars.
Its people like you Jeff that keep our world turning. Thank you for doing what you do over at the greatest automobile company in the world. Happy holidays to you and your family brother, cheers.
Vladpryde Because thats the whole persona of the "Mustang" name. Big,Loud, fast V8. That's why i hate the new mustangs with the V6 option and the new 4 cylinder turbo. Great motors in any other car but not the mustang. The Ford GT's persona revolves around being the best street legal racing car that Ford can make so putting a Twin Turbo 3.5L V6 is a super smart thing to do, in the GT. Keep that motor away from the mustang.
"An engine like this one is more efficient than a small one screaming it's head off" I couldn't agree more. Some cars have to rev up to 9k rpm to get the same horsepower of a LS7 or a Mustang V8 and they have less torque. The GT500 was able to aquire 662 hp without hitting the guzzler tax. That's amazing. I want to see a 2015 Ford GT40 with this engine
Jay I love cars, I know you don’t even prolly look at these comments, but you could make a 50 year old guys dream come true, letting me come and spend an hour with you, and maybe drive one of your American muscle cars, but in reality there are so many more guys deserving of that, I.e. guys and gals that have served, god bless you and your family. Cheers from Canada.
I work at a Hyundai dealership, and a guy traded in a 2013 super snake mustang and an SRT-10 ram for 2 sonata hybrids. That snake is one of the few cars ive driven that scared me. SO MUCH TORQUE!
I feel it. I have an '07 V6, but I love it to death. Honestly, I have plans to pull the engine and everything out after college, either swap it out for a 8-cylinder, or pump up the ole 4.0.

Gotta love the Shogun Festiva in the background! Love Leno's collection!
Hi from the future were in the Era were ford competition leaves again becuase they can't keep up so its gonna get worse than the S550 I believe
Theres something so lovable about the mustangs all of em 65-2024 they have so much charm and ford is still changing them up a lot and making updates i do miss the manual gt500s though
Would rather have the 13 GT500 in grabber blue over pretty much any other car in the price range. Awesome street presence.
can i violate you?
Lol my dad has a 2014 super snake in grabber blue with black stripes
Had a 2011 gt500 with 500hp. Great fun, loved that supercharger whine. Had to watch that squirrelly rear end.
Txs Shelby 4 Having Such a Great Group of People Leading the Way, Amazing Car, R.I.P. Ser🙏⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️❤️💪
Normally I hate burnouts. But man, this was something else. I loved it!
The 2019 gt500 is coming out in 6 days I literally can’t wait
So stoked.
RIP Carol Shelby January 11, 1923 - May 10, 2012
You will always be remembered as an automotive legend/icon.
Thank You for the inspiration and and motivation you have given us all in the automotive industry that will be followed and remembered for years to come. We all miss you.
Jay are you getting a 2015 Shelby GT350?! I'd love to see you bring in a Shelby specialist to talk about it almost as much as seeing you shred the tires!!
Rest in peace, Carroll..
Huge legend in the carhistory, the world miss you, buddy!
Shelby GT500, Awesome muscle car...Legend
This car is a war machine, I love the Shelby
I am pretty new to cars. Are they still making these or no? '14 is the latest correct?
they make the new Shelby GT350 & GT350R, but they'll be coming out with the new boss 302 shortly.
@@begtodiffer13 we did eventually get a new GT500
Hello from the future. Yes, the GT500 returned.
Last of the Manuals yes! I have a 14 Vert and ill likely die with it~!
2014 GT500 in Deep Impact Blue is my new dream car (replacing the 2004 Terminator Cobra in Screaming Yellow).
termi is sexy AF tho....
+Alex Leyva (WJawd) amen brother I want a cobra so bad but they are all very over priced
Just got my 2021 gt500 and it's a magnificent car. But I also have a 2013 gt500 and it's so much fun to drive. It's a monster even left as stock. Great job ford.
Finally in 2015 the Mustang will have Independent Rear Suspension. Bout time.
I can't remember every detail but:
Full motion independent suspension, and not the McPherson front strut assy, complete redesign similar to the old FN-10/MN-12 chassis. The '03-'04 terminator had the "thrown in IRS", this is all new everything.
All new chassis
Lower profile
wider
more powerful
full feature interior with upholstered surfaces.
Great Legacy you left behind Caroll, You'll have a dear spot in all of our hearts. Thank you for all the amazing cars you gave us
Now if I could just fit that GT500 motor in my 2004 Ranger?
if you cant put it in the bed? not as practical but it would be interesting.
Twin turbo a 351W for vastly less money, but much more power...
I LOOOOVE my 2014 GT500. It's my dream car!
its funny how the camera dont show under the hood very long.
$50+K IS a lot for a unibody throw away Mustang...
This show has seriously made me rethink how I feel about Jay Leno. Ive honestly never liked Jay due to the whole Tonight show fiasco and just him as a talk show host in general turned me off. But this show really brings out his true passion. I wish he had just done this all along. When I watch this show I really like him and he just does a bloody good job.
ford needs to put out the 429 mustang
Jay does the best burnouts.
Clearly the horsepower wars of the 60s were just skirmishes compared to what we have now. Sooner or later there will be an ultimate. Wonder what it'll be.
@zro I don't see 1000hp being the norm anytime soon. I live in a pretty expensive city and the average hp here is probably 250.
Happy to say I make these cars everyday! Thanks Jay for such a nice reveiw on our cars.
I also wish I had one but like most I have a house & kids so maybe one day but to those how can afford one & have got one Thanks for supporting me & my family & Ford Motor Company..
Dear Santa,
i want a shelby
This Mustang is a fitting tribute to such an iconic individual. Thank you SVT.
That's actually pretty cheap for what it is. Plus you get a warranty on those 662 horses
0ver 100 cars and one shirt! love ya yay
I'll take the 302 Boss
+Ian Townsend I have the same boss I love my car
Boogey man what? besides the fact that it has forged cams, ported heads different valve springs and a completely forged bottom end...you sir are bugging out the 302 motor is capable of holding over 800wheel where as the regular 5oh about 600-650
Thumbs up for the burnout jay!
Interesting way of spelling chief at 1:33.
+Tristan Knaus I did not even notice :D LoL
interesting that you noticed and had to comment...got 2 outstanding mustangs to view plus others and your looking for spelling errors
Thank you for not disrespecting Ford and Chevy. Even though you are not a fan of them in particular, you still respect them and don't talk smack. In return I as a Ford fan, respect you as a dodge fan and all mopars.
At 1:32 it says "cheif engineer. It's spelled" chief" lol
Its people like you Jeff that keep our world turning. Thank you for doing what you do over at the greatest automobile company in the world. Happy holidays to you and your family brother, cheers.
While a stick is much more fun to drive, they are a pain in the ass and nothing but an inconvenience in stop and go traffic.
Agreed ....should hv atleast made boss in automatic. ...would increase sales ....Shelby i understand. ..atleast the new 5.0 comes in automatic
No automatics in anything as far as I'm concerned. Even my diesel pickup has a 6 speed on the floor.
I get goose bumps when ever I see the great Mr. Shelby
i like the performance, i just hate the body.
I feel the same. Ford is releasing the "Ford GT" model in 2015 I've read... but its gonna break 6 figures :(
***** Really??? Tell me more about that, please. I'm also a ford fan. :)
*****
And it's got a 3.5 Liter turbo 6. Why can't they just take this motor and drop it in there?
Vladpryde Because thats the whole persona of the "Mustang" name. Big,Loud, fast V8. That's why i hate the new mustangs with the V6 option and the new 4 cylinder turbo. Great motors in any other car but not the mustang. The Ford GT's persona revolves around being the best street legal racing car that Ford can make so putting a Twin Turbo 3.5L V6 is a super smart thing to do, in the GT. Keep that motor away from the mustang.
most people go crazy for the retro style bodies but if thats not your thing then the new mustangs might be right up your alley
I love it how you're soo enthusiastic after soo many years
i love Jay Leno and his garage
Just got an 05 Mustang V6. Although it's a V6, I'd say it's a fantastic start for someone two weeks from 17. My dream is to own a GT500.
I just love listening to you Mr. Leno
One of the best burnouts on this channel.
The whine of that supercharger 😍😍😍😍
I love this GT500,..... i almost screamed when he put the hood prop rod up.
The wheels are big to fit over the huge 15" rotors and 6-piston Brembo calipers. If you get a look up close, they are incredible.
Thanks You Jay! For keeping Shelby's dream alive! Love your show!
"An engine like this one is more efficient than a small one screaming it's head off"
I couldn't agree more.
Jay, your Ford corner is AMAZING! I ❤ those cars you have!
I work at a Hyundai dealership, and a guy traded in a 2013 super snake mustang and an SRT-10 ram for 2 sonata hybrids. That snake is one of the few cars ive driven that scared me. SO MUCH TORQUE!
that interior of that Shelby looks amazing!!
R.I.P Carroll.. Thank you for your contributions to society!!
The Boss 302 is wonderful but it has a bad transmission whereas the GT500 has no flaws. It's a beast of a car.
Carroll Shelby will be missed by tons of people
R.I.P Carroll Shelby
I feel it. I have an '07 V6, but I love it to death. Honestly, I have plans to pull the engine and everything out after college, either swap it out for a 8-cylinder, or pump up the ole 4.0.
Jay , with your busy schedule I hope you get around to read this comment . Love your TH-cam site the garage is awesome. I'm a big mustang guy and I'm glad I'm not alone. Count your blessings cause you have that every boys dreams. Keep up the good work. And again , it's a MUSTANG.
