I’ve never get bored but still enjoy watching movies that were produced or directed by him. Ray has done amazing work making his animals and doing special effects.👏🏼👏🏼👍🏼👍🏼

    There's this dream like beauty to the scene where the brontosaurus stands over the waters edge with the mountain in the background. I love the design of the cliffs surrounding the water. It's like something right out of a childs imagination. There's an essence to this that you can't recreate this with CG.

    It's interesting to see how some of the dinosaur's mannerisms continued in his later work, especially those of the theropod. Also, it's interesting how this is the sauropod that received the most screentime in any of his films, and that hadrosaur at the end was the first and last one he ever made.
    Fun fact; in One Million Years BC, it was originally going to be the brontosaurus that attacked the shell tribe, but he eventually went for the allosaurus. Even though I love how it turned out, I would have prefered to see the brontosaurus attack the tribe; it's quite unusual to see a fight between humans and a sauropod after 1951, whilst human-theropod confrontations are the most usual in pop culture.

    • @icanliveforever1243
      @icanliveforever1243 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cool, was wondering why the Sauropod had only a few seconds in that movie. And yeah, glad you noticed the Hadrosaur, it looks like it's supposed to be a Corythosaurus.

    • @dodapictures2141
      @dodapictures2141 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m afraid you are incorrect on something, Ray’s plan was to have the Brontosaurus attack both tribes together at THE CLIMAX of the film NOT THE SHELL PEOPLE. That was always the Allosaurus. If you watch the original movie you will realize this, as there is also one big dinosaur both tribes must fight at the end of that one.

    Would've been amazed to see it fully complete and released on the big scream in it's time, even though Disney had already done it before him with The Rite of Spring segment from Fantasia. But the one that's in it that Disney's didn't have(which was originally going to be in it) was the part where it showed the evolution of the mammals. That would've amazing to see it all in Stop-motion.

    It's interesting that in this test scene Harryhausen animated the Allosaurus in a much more modern athletic active manner, similar to the Raptors from Jurassic Park, and not in the lumbering style as seen in so many dinosaur films of the time (including later ones he created). Its such a beautiful looking film, too bad he never got the chance to make the film, I'm sure it would have been a big hit.

    I personally think this holds up more than most CGi will in the future. The motion is very smooth (the only stutter is when the Triceratops backs up), and the models are really detailed and expressive. I wonder how much it cost Harryhausen(it is in color after all) Think about it, many films made just a decade ago with CG look really fake, and this was made 70 years ago! Call me old fashioned, but I want stop motion back in cinema!

Also there is already another version of evolution so but it’s called prehistoric beasts by Phil Tippett end it only had dinosaurs so three evolution movies are come on Disney why did you how to make that film I would really love to see this film also a few days ago it was Ray Harryhausen‘s birthday hundredth birthday also I got into stop motion because of Ray #Harryhausen100

    This clip demontrates the importance of better sculpted models. The animation and creature personalities are up to Harryhausen standards even here, but his models got better as he matured and improved, and the overall effect is demonstrably better. Compare with the Beast of Hollow Mountain or Jack the Giant Killer; the models are every bit as important as the animation.
