"We're gonna grow old, but never grow up." ~Ray Bradbury Thank you, Mr. Harryhausen and Mr. Bradbury for sharing your passions with the world. You will never be forgotten.
I was very lucky to have met Ray back in 1989 at a Sci Fi convention, and he was a very giving and very gracious man. It was also kinda neat that it was just the two of us for almost 20 minutes, a couple of artists gabbing about the craft. While some folks might go crazy over actors, I've always been a huge fan of the men & women working behind the camera.
Simplesmente o mestre dos bonecos, que inspirou muitos cineastas até os dias de hoje. Ele dava vida aos bonecos de uma maneira que não vemos no 3D, sem que não tenha animatronics como base............Falow!!!
Hey, I'm 14 and I LOVE his work. I get really pissed when someone talks bad about these effects. It's about the craft, not about how realistic you can make it.
Stop Motion has an unearthly and handmade touch/texture... which I love❤️❤️❤️ Excellent narration by Leonard Nimoy ! Wonderful insight in HarryHausen’s career.
Im 21 and when I was about 6 or 7 one weekend Jason and the Argonauts was on TV and my Dad was watching it so i sat down to watch it too its been one of my favorite films for years just because it reminds me of being a kid so much and I loved the stop motion (think these old myth movies made me interested in history). I can kinda remember other films this man worked on but I must find them all there just awesome
I really wish he had finished The Jupiter Project. That alien looks super cool. Perhaps I could make it incorporating footage from it, as well as Evolution?
Ray's Guadalcanal film showcase his talent in multi plane animation. Never knew he could animate so many planes at any one Time. He could have done galaxy war starship in the 70s.
This? This is the guy behind all my child hood memories? i always wondered who made these incredible animations. And just my luck, as soon as i finally (randomly by luck) find out about who's the person responsible for all this, i find out he's dead. Fuck :( R.I.P.
S imply the best ever. That's how the originals are...irreplaceable. This man didn't get the praise that he deserved. Why does it take death to finally recognize true genius and legend.
Dear Ray HarryHausen, i beg for my message to reach heaven. I want you to know that a young boy 5 years ago watched Jason and the Argonauts and wasn't the same sins. you fascinate every young artist from a sculptor to an animator to a painter. You are the souse of inspiration for artists all over the world from the USA to Israel (that's me). So rest now in peace Ray, and may your memory live on in the films you've created, and in the monsters you made. so long legend...
yeah..lots better than the new one..there is some kind of magic in stop motion animation.that iv'e noticed today's kids even stop and watch...grabs there attention...thank you ray harryhausen...
4:30 I like the T.Rex from Evolution. It’s a shame that 16 Millimeter Project was never completed. Well, at least he did that 1956 Film The Animal World along with Willas O’Brian. But the fight between the Triceratops & The Tyrannosaurus Rex had to be short in The Animal World. I even saw a several shots of the originally planned fight sequence just before the Volcano 🌋 blew up bringing the reign of the Dinosaurs to an end.
then how about I show you a clip with Sentinal Prime in it in his fight against Optimus, don't have to watch the whole video, just an action scene that never gets old, although for the record I like how Bay portrayed the Transformer movies
Will never understand how the figures move. Still don't get how they got Bugs Bunny and the guys to run around. Bugs is the GOAT, person or non-human animal. NHAs are way better than people.
to me i think he made good transformers movies. cause i hear every one saying he did horrible job (no comment on transformers 2) but i haft to know from them what were they expecting some thing like King Lear 2000 when the original story is about giant robots fighting a war. to me it sounds like their going to a Disney movie and expecting it to be a tragic ending where every one dies.
Just give it three or four more decades. All the 30/40 something year olds who complain about CG will be dead or senile and the movies of today will be classics. Or some of them. Not Michael Bay's though.

Thank you, Mr. Harryhausen and Mr. Bradbury for sharing your passions with the world. You will never be forgotten.
Agreed. You can watch films like this and appreciate it at the end because you know a hell of a lot of effort went into producing them.
Thanks Ray for the beautiful stop-motion-animations in movies
RIP

2016 and his work is yet to be topped
Hey, I'm 14 and I LOVE his work. I get really pissed when someone talks bad about these effects. It's about the craft, not about how realistic you can make it.
What Brain-Dead hamster running on a broken spinning wheel said that Harryhausens work is Terrible?
and indeed they are the underratted performers behind the camera that give so much to the authenticity behind these scenes would attest!!!
Stop Motion has an unearthly and handmade touch/texture...
which I love❤️❤️❤️
Excellent narration by Leonard Nimoy !
Wonderful insight in HarryHausen’s career.
"Grow old, but never grow up."
That pretty much sums up my life so far. XP
He is the hero of my childhood. Rest in Peace Ray.I will never forget the movies with your stop motion effects! I've been try to collect them all!
Now that he's passed
it feels like the end of this era of special fx.
RIP good sir! You inspired me...now I hope I can honor your legacy in my own small way.
I want to make my own Dinosaur armatures some day.
Real artist and genius who has brought us awesome imagery and fantasy.

Ray's stuff thrilled me as a kid. It's great to see how this all went on.
Great that you uploaded these chronicles
R.I.P. Ray Harryhausen
I really wish he had finished The Jupiter Project. That alien looks super cool. Perhaps I could make it incorporating footage from it, as well as Evolution?
Sounds cool but you would probably be sued by his estate. You should focus on making your own project with stop motion effects🦖🦕
i love this kind of art
Thank you for uploading this marvelous decumentary!
damn ray harryhausen..those of us lucky enough too remeber his movies before cgi..we were blessed..my 10 year old son loves his movie monsters too..
It's awesome how this documentary is narrated by Spock.
Spock rules!
One legend narrating the legend of another.
Ray's Guadalcanal film showcase his talent in multi plane animation. Never knew he could animate so many planes at any one Time. He could have done galaxy war starship in the 70s.
Ray Harryhausen = Living Legend
This? This is the guy behind all my child hood memories? i always wondered who made these incredible animations. And just my luck, as soon as i finally (randomly by luck) find out about who's the person responsible for all this, i find out he's dead. Fuck :( R.I.P.
This is the definitive Ray Harryhausen documentary...
why is this video shaking all over the place?
S imply the best ever. That's how the originals are...irreplaceable. This man didn't get the praise that he deserved. Why does it take death to finally recognize true genius and legend.
MAESTRO DE MAESTROS. EL NO ANIMABA CREABA VIDA. excelente!!!!
The Godfather of stop motion monsters.
R.I.P
I think it's perfect that Spock is narrating this.
I noticed that many people under the age of 25 have never heard of him... rip
RIP ray.....

Tell me about it! Whenever I talk about Ray to anyone, they all have the same response. "Who's that?" UUUUUGGGGH!!!!

R.I.P mr Harryhausen he will be remembered.. :(
I grew up watching his movies,.
My Hero!
Rest in peace, buddy.
The only one of his films I ever saw was the original Clash Of The Titans.
Well, you're missing some of the best ones! May I suggest the original _JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS_ or _THE 7TH VOYAGE OF SINBAD_ ?
TedVoron or the valley of twanging or one million years b.c.
Look for a program called real player. It will allow you to download this particular video from youtube.
a genious!!!-hand made fantasy!!!
RIP, Ray.
ironnically, Lenard Nimoy was in a Michael Bay movie, and I think he was an awesome Sentinal Prime
How was he able to make the furry creatures?
RIP Ray Harryhausen :'(
R.I.P. Man. Video about you soon.
Ive seen clash of the titans a hundred times as a kid
Yeah i dont know though.... since i havent seen the movie and dont think i ever will

The narrator sounds like John Huston.
@witchcityman use a youtube downloader like mediaconverter (.) org
then how about I show you a clip with Sentinal Prime in it in his fight against Optimus, don't have to watch the whole video, just an action scene that never gets old, although for the record I like how Bay portrayed the Transformer movies

KEEP IT REAL!!!
Not if you study sculpture and animation. ;)
The awesomeness of Harryhausen vs. the shitfest of Michael bay.
Pick your era!
Just give it three or four more decades. All the 30/40 something year olds who complain about CG will be dead or senile and the movies of today will be classics. Or some of them. Not Michael Bay's though.
