Sadly ..

I was one of those gullible people that purchased one of those power banks may 2020 I called sent emails but nothing, it really sad how people steal from others that are out here working hard just to have some like that company still from you. It's just not fair. Thank you for listening.

Ken, I absolutely LOVE your videos!!! You’re the best consumer product advocate I’ve seen since the late 1970’s and early 1980’s when David Horowitz used to run a very similar show on TV. Please keep making more videos. You are REALLY helping the lone consumer in a day and age where it has never been more needed! You’re a true American hero!
*Knew it!* I was already suspicious from the first time I saw the ad. The first thing that I noticed was that the ad is formatted as a *"review".* Also, from my experience, power banks with integrated solar panels are almost 100% fake, or at the minimum just completely useless because the solar panel can barely charge the internal batteries...
Not necessarily fake, you just have to have realistic expectations. My power bank has a solar panel and they tell you outright to power it up by plugging it in and that the panel won't give much of a charge. There are lots of ligitimate power banks that have solar panels that don't claim you'll be able to do more than get a little extra charge from the panel and some of them have multiple panels so that you get more surface area.
My Blavor power bank seems to be a quality power bank, I just bought a separate portable solar panel to charge it.
@@Primalxbeast the ones I'm familiar with tend to advertise the feature as a passive top-up function while it's hanging off of a backpack or something. Some of the fancier camping ones come with much larger addon panels then what's shown in the video here. Then again, as you pointed out, you can almost always buy a regular solar panel with a regulator that'll do far better then the little one on the bank itself.
@@DFX2KX The ligitimate ones also seem more rugged than power banks without solar panels, so even if the panel itself isn't particularly useful, it's still a good product, and I figure a quality power bank with a solar panel can probably handle heat better than other power banks.
Someone bought one of these power banks for me for Christmas, long before their ads flooded TH-cam. I have to say, it works great *if you completely disregard all promises in the ads.* These things have a huge battery life, and I'd expect them to with how bloody massive they are. The promised "6-8 hours" to a full charge on solar is a lie. It takes about 4-5 days to charge, which I'd estimate at 32-48 hours of daylight depending on the weather. I much prefer it to the cheap solar chargers that literally don't charge or hardly work at all.
The bottom of the power banks says that it can charge at 300mA on solar, which would take 66.67 hours to charge. (20,000mAh/300mA = 66.67h) so all things considered, charging time isn't terrible. That said, the promise to charge in 6-8 hours is completely false and unrealistic. I still wouldn't pay $100 for it, but considering any power bank under $20 is hot garbage, I'd probably put it at being worth $60-80.
Edit: just got to the part of the video where it shows that it looks awfully similar to a $16 product on alibaba. Dammit.
@@Primalxbeast Very true. I own a solar panel battery (From another company) myself, and distinctly remember the manual saying in big bold letters: "Solar panel is for emergencies only, always charge from wall outlet when available."
My prime concern is heat. Sufficiently hot day and (I would hope) the controller will limit current to the battery to prevent overheating. Not that the panel will be putting enough current into it for that to matter anyway but precautions are important regardless.
i love how they said "im very exited" in this ad, they sound so depressed and unhappy, who would buy product with that type of ad?
It sounds like they’re being held at gunpoint
They are being held at gunpoint behind the cam to "review" them, that is why their faces are not shown.

Plus, they said that if you link three packs together you get 15W, as if 5V * 3A ≠ 15W already. If they actually are 5V, and you hook three of them up in series, you get a raw output of 15V, *not* 15W, so you can say goodbye to your thousand-dollar phone.

*Ok so I bought one of these and I'll give a few reasons why:*
>It's a decent size battery for the time that I bought it, I'd get about 5 or 6 recharges out of it.
>That light bar on the back is really bright, and I've used it quite a few times on walks, working on my bike, and other odd jobs.
>At the time, the 40$ price tag for those two features seemed pretty good, especially when compared to companies like ANKER (who I love, but my wallet doesn't.)
>The wireless charging, multiple ports, and solar panels were cool, but I kinda new they wouldn't work as advertised so I didn't think of it as that much of a deal.
Then I ordered the thing, and I came to realize how lucky I was I didn't get screwed.
Not only did the item take about a week to confirm for shipping, but it took several emails over the course of two or three weeks to get a half hearted reply from this company. "Items were in backorder" is basically what it said, but I didn't hear about any of that from them or their website prior to threatening to sue them. This leads me to think the only reason I I got my product is because I threatened to oust them. But the disappointment didn't stop there, nonono.
When it finally arrived, I charged it all the way using the USB chargers. No issue. As I said before I don't have a wireless charging phone so I didn't check that. Out of curiosity though, I discharged the battery the entire way to see how long it would take to charge it.
It. didn't. charge. at. all.
I left the damn thing out on my windowsill for a day, expecting it to charge maybe halfway and even that would've been a success for me. After a day the 25% indicator was the only one that lit up. So I thought, maybe leave it for a few days, as a worst case scenario option for charging it or something.
*It didn't move past 25%.*
Now I still use the thing, but the struggle to get it delivered as well as the blatant false advertising made me look at this like the thing it is.
A bonafide scam.
...The light's still nice tho.

I recognized instantly this was a scam because the UI for the “reviews” are exactly the same from other scam sites I’ve seen. Like PodsBay
Gonna have to look at that
I knew it was a scam when the "Reviewer" said it only takes 60 minutes for the solar panel to charge up the battery. Okay, so a company I've never heard of before has better solar charging tech. on its side than Goal Zero? Yeah.... no.
I shall recite the ad by memory:
So lit mobile just sent me thier solar wireless battery pack, I'm excited to see what's inside
I really like the build, it's got hand grips on the side, it's shock proof and water resistant
"Milly Amps"
... [skip ad]
"It's the most ambitious Solar Charger of 2019 and if you use my offer code now you get 10,000 silver and an exclusive character"
You own it but you cant have it too its a fricking great deal.
@@greenhowie raid shadow litfam
2:31 I like how the guy just says "five V, three A" instead of "five volts, three amps"
I always just made fun of them when they said “I like the build... it has grips on the side”
"it has hand grips on the sides". oh no shit? I thought they were feet grips 🤣

My god, I can hold it!
What build? What does that even mean? It just sounds like some bullshit buzzwords to trick stupid people

Yeah, it's warm to the touch, I don't really understand these glyphs and the faint air of brimstone seems to add character...
Thank you so much for doing this! Unable to leave a comment on their ads directly I have had no outlet for my annoyance and outrage.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
*THANK YOU*
These ads have been rubbing me the wrong way for weeks now for all the exact same reasons. Everything feels so contrived and dumbed down in their staged identical ads. I hate how manipulative they are as well, it's one of the biggest things that scare me away from a brand let alone trying a product.
I look forward to your follow-up video, keep investigating sketchy tech, we need more of this out there. It's like Kickstarter Crap but Startup Scam haha.
Lol rubbing you the wrong way 😂
It’s been years...
It's a wave of small "companies" re-branding Chinese OEM products. Perfect legal but the only reason you would buy a lazy re-brand for double the money is for domestic support and service....and these guys totally fail that. You can usually spot lazy rebranding a mile away and if I ever get actually interested in a product I check sources like Amazon, Ebay, Alibaba, etc for the original OEM to see how much I can really get it for.
I’m glad someone with knowledge on this sort of thing is confirming why I never liked these ads or this product.
You know the company is a scam when you call them out on their FB ad and they delete your comment and block you within minutes!
These videos are fascinating, because my ad blocker means I've never actually seen any of the ads they refer to, so I've never heard of any of the products.
The moment i saw their ads, my basic knowledge of solar and batteries says "lies"
Can hold 8 full iPhone charges.... Also charges to full with a tiny solar panel in one hour..............
Yeah my bullshit detector was screaming at me.
20Ah*3.7, that's 74Wh, so you need a 10W panel to charge in 7.4 hour you need a solar panel that's about 2-4 times the size they use for that.
but if the 8 hour solar full charge is bs (unless they count a full phone charge.) a 20 Ah battery of that size is definitely feasible.
I assume if it's real-ish, it's probably a 2.5W panel with a 5Ah battery.
there are some legit 20AH batteries in that format that charge in under 8 hours, but they use a folded panel.
@@manaquriazertyuio4555 there we go, a folding solar panel. Now THAT I've seen before.
Kind of a battery that powers a motor which turns a generator which recharges the battery.
"Let's see what's inside" Oh, I dunno, a solar powered power bank?
Maybe.
Lmao when I first heard it I was like oo is it ought to be a chihuahua huh?
It is like when you are interrogating someone and they go "uhh...uhh"; they are just trying to buy some time so they can make up the next lie.
As soon as I saw the first one, I knew it would be a scam.
Does anybody else get weirded-out that a power bank has cushion grips on the side like you'll be holding it for a long. Of time, then also why would you demo a solar power powerbang indoors ever
I always cringe when people refer to themselves as "influencers"
?
Yeah, me too. I think the word 'influencer' is very off putting. As though this person has some sort of influence over you. It's quite negative, almost like saying they can brainwash you.
Anything can influence you, now what that influences you to do is a different story...
One might say he influenced you to say that you dislike people calling themselves influencers.

don't trust someone when they say 20000 milliamps instead of milliamp hours
Dont they mean the same thing? if they dont sorry
@@andrewbrajak6483 they dont lmao
Dont trust anyone using a term that means nothing when it should be watthours.
shyrwall0 amp hours don’t mean nothing. It’s a measure of charge, which, is a thing you’d care to know about a battery. A watt hour is a term of power would only be applicable of what you are trying to power with the battery, and less useful to calculate what kind of performance you’ll get out of the battery. If I am powering a 50 miliamp light from a 50 miliamp hour battery, I can expect it to last one hour. If that information were given to me in watt hours it would be essentially useless to me as I would need to know the current draw of my circuit and the voltage of the batteries at any given time. And, I would end up converting it to amp hours anyway.
or who deliberately inflated the number from 20 Ah to 20k mAh. that would be like saying I can bench press 50k mg.
*[My personal review on the product:]* So this is pretty awkward since I just bought a similar bank on Amazon about a month or two ago. It looks scaring similar to the one showed on video, although the flashlight is on the side instead of through the wireless pad and it has an orange border, so I’m not sure if it’s the same scam product.
It has been working fine for me personally, but now I’ll be screwed if it suddenly stops working since I’m on vacation in Houston, TX and we’re about to undergo a “life-threatening” tropical storm tomorrow. The “4/4 charged” LED is also apparently burnt out so I can’t tell if it’s fully charged or charging.
I was actually charging it right now when I got the bad news recommended to me. Wish me luck, boys.
Push comes to shove, I’ll charge my devices in the car.
How'd it go?
@@maxqi3729 If I remember, we thankfully didn’t lose any power. Few months back I used this on a camping trip and could barely could keep my iPhone 11 at 2%
I’m probably going to buy a different power bank.
