Unfortunately, I brought 2 and I'm sending them back ASAP. I did talk on the phone with them about returning therm so I have 60 days. Not waiting that long. Thanks for your show. I'm a fan now!
Were you able to return them and get a refund? Did you have to fork out a fortune for shipping that then wasn't reimbursed? I know a lot of these scam companies to honour their return policies at least as much as they're legally required to. They bank on the fact that most people won't bother or won't remember in time or decide it isn't worth it when shipping cost's half the price of the product. But then some companies will just rip you off completely, claim they never received it, or insist that it's been damaged or opened or is scratched or water damaged etc. which voids the warranty, and then they'll say it'll cost like another $20 shipping to get it back. Some places will even insist that you can't return it if you've opened the box, even if you never even took the product out of it. Of course since the item isn't as described and isn't fit for purpose you have a statutory right to a refund and can sue them if they don't comply or complain to the better business bureau or other relevant ombudsman. I was annoyed that Ken just took their word for it ab out the 60 day guarantee and didn't try to get a refund to see if they were telling the truth, especially about honouring it after it was water damaged, possibly destroyed. Just stating they'll refund without any proof especially given all their other lies seems dangerous and reckless to me. People might decide that it's good enough for what they need and a reasonable price at only $50, or maybe they'll have a sale, people could think it was worth trying if they can just return it.
Depends on your expectations. There are good cheap products, but they won't have all features. Just be sure about what you really need and want. Buying stuff for the sake of having it is never a good idea
I also got taken by this watch. The ad was key for me but I immediately got concerned when I got scammed at the end of the transaction where no matter how careful you are you’d end up buying ad-on’s like straps and chargers. I came to the conclusion that any business that does that to you at the order stage would be no go. So I contacted them straight after I got the email confirmation telling them to cancel the order completely but they kept giving me discounts and offers to keep it but I refused. They dragged their feet on the refund so I reported it to my credit card company who took care of it for me.
I've been in customer service and I can only imagine how miserable it is being that guy on the phone. I highly doubt he had anything to do with these scammy decisions, just his bosses.
he's clearly someone who has multiple "companies" to provide "support" for, each with a different name. Notice how he needs a bit to figure out what name to respond with? Clear sign he is looking it up on a list. Probably a guy in a scam call center, swapping between "support" for a dozen or more scam companies.
@@jwenting He could also be just a generic call center guy who takes calls for multiple companies. Although both are probable, I just don't like accusing someone of being a scammer without proof.
I remember, before I bought (or even was revealed) an Apple Watch, I had a Pebble smartwatch. It didn't have a touch screen, it didn't have a backlight, but it delivered exactly what it advertised and it worked really well for me. The charge lasted over a week, there were downloadable apps and games which worked really well, it controlled my music and calls, it was surprisingly good. That Pebble smartwatch was far more capable and honest about its features in *checks notes* 2013 is far better than the scam smartwatches in this video. I bought an Apple Watch first gen back in the day, and I've never really felt the need to update it since. Still using it current day with my iPhone XS Max. Still notifies me of updates, still tracks workouts (heart rate monitor isnt very accurate anymore), still lets me control tracks and volume of my music, etc. It's a bit clunky and slow sometimes, but it still works. Better than the Pebble, and far better than the scam watches in this video. Great video btw

I do not fault companies for creating a cheaper alternative technology, but it makes me angry when they intentionally make deceitful claims. You’re doing a good service Ken!
I absolutely love this 'pivot' you've made to your channel over the last year+. So good to see these companies get called out - because there are legit good products that might seem like scams, and there are bad products that look good. So it's neat you are focusing on the more obvious scam products and really nailing down the details.
Ken, I absolutely LOVE your videos!!! You’re the best consumer product advocate I’ve seen since the late 1970’s and early 1980’s when David Horowitz used to run a very similar show on TV. Please keep making more videos. You are REALLY helping the lone consumer in a day and age where it has never been more needed! You’re a true American hero!
I love how the tech support rep crumbled into dust at your first sentence. Just completely fell back to the script. Also I love the first thing he says is what's your zip. Amazing
@@dan3a Yep, have the Mi Band 4 for about a year at this point, no issues with it, worst thing was it started updating once when i needed to go somewhere :D
I've used a Mi Band 3 untill I've lost it. It wasn't exactly a smart watch, but It showed when I had notifications, it showed the time and it did all of the tracking I wanted it to do. While being waterproof and with a battery life of around a week. Ain't gonna buy any kind of watch or tracker any time soon tough, since for hygienic reasons those things need to be off my arm at work.
Hey, I got no problem with people doing it. 99% of the time, it's the advertising / marketing (and fake backstories) that make things scammy. Also, lack of fulfillment will piss off people, too, but I'm sure any good logistics team can handle that. I've never done it myself, so I can't speak from personal experience. : )
I just saw the ad for this and could already smell the BS from it. Did a google search and you video popped up. Loved the depth you’ve gone into for this and other scam products. Liked and subbed instantly! Keep fighting the good fight!
Love the review of the smart watch Ken. There are so many knock off companies trying to imitate smart watches that you don't know what ones you can trust and which ones are the best value for your level of budget. It's great to see someone like you debunking adverts to help the average Joe make those rational decisions about tech. Subscribed, like and shared 👍👍
Great video! I hope Cardieo’s team watch this video! And I also hope that a lot of people watch this video to be aware of this scam. A virtual hug from Italy :)
My grandfather found this same watch and asked me if he should buy it. One look at the site was all I needed to know this was a scam. I simply sent this video to him
This is disgusting... I can’t believe someone would blatantly lie about this so badly using literally made up and fake advertising. I really hope no one falls for it... I honestly couldn’t sleep at night if I worked for or operated a company like this. I already can’t sleep at night just knowing this could be tricking people.
I love all the bad marketing and stealing these companies do. I’m really surprised apple and other legit companies aren’t cracking down more on these things.
This video is so great... thanks for the time and effort of double checking this and make is so fun to enjoy. Simply one of my favorites channels on TH-cam, keep it up!
Thank you for the heads up about this watch ! I’ve been there before ! I bought a watch from COtechnology and it was a scam too ! I can’t believe we have those adds on Facebook and consumers get fooled about those false advertisement !!
Thanks, Ken! I just so ad & did a screenshot to Google it. I don't wear watches but my kid LOVES them. Saw your TH-cam link. I've worked in Marketing, Advertising, etc. Plus I've done Telemarketing. Customer Service Rep had a script reply for EVERY question.
What's the most 'conversion technology' you've used in a single project? Ex. Once I connected my phone over miracast to my TV, which I used red/white audio out to a 3.5 mm jack, which I converted to 13 mm guitar jack, connected to the input of a guitar pedal (set to clean pass through). That was run across my house to my guitar amp where I was. This was my solution to not having a Bluetooth speaker.
I just saw this add & was impressed by what they said... checked their website, looked dodgy. Decided to google Cardieo & your video was 3rd on the list, on my screen. Glad I watched your video. To answer your question.... no, 4 weeks on from you posting this & they haven’t changed anything about the video.
They sell them here in thailand at the local markets. I was just curious and loked a little closer. The seller said; if you want a good one, buy original. I gave him the money for one without taking the watch a d thanked him for his honesty. The 10 bucks didn’t hurt me but he was happy
Thank you, I saw the TH-cam ad for Cardieo, and clicked on the fortune wheel that gave me 70% off, then I got sceptical (because usually I have bad luck) started to investigate and found you!
I am so glad I decided to investigate before I clicked on the purchase button, I was so close to getting ripped off! Thank you for your video! Oh, and just before your video comes on, they are showing their advertisement. What garbage!
That thing is essentially the same as the $23 "fitness" watch I bought about a month ago. I didn't even use it for long, I got it just to see if having a "smartish" watch on my wrist was something I'd be interested in (I'm a mechanical watch guy). Turned out I liked the concept, so I bought a T-Rex Pro to replace it with. Oh, you _can_ swim with it. At least once.
Looks like the website was updated since your video came out, which is good. Looks closer to what it's supposed to be given what you were showing. No mention of water resistance, that I could find, either. At least they fixed their mistake, but too little too late, I'd be surprised if anyone buys their watch any more.
I am glad I found this video. Recently bought an Apple watch and then seen the Cardieo ads and thought ... maybe I made a mistake and should have bought them. Thanks my mind is at ease.
Great work - thank you! I found you after watching a very convincing ad for this product. It really seems quite outrageous that this kind of advertising is legal - one long lie from start to finish.
I personally enjoy seeing those fly-by-night hardware manufacturers try to imitate popular Apple products using whatever technology they have available. One fly-by-night hardware manufacturer will be like "we don't have inductive charging, so let's use pogo pins but advertise inductive charging anyway" and another will be like "we have neither inductive charging nor pogo-pins, so let's put a USB port in the wristband and have the user take off the wristband to charge the watch"... It's just hilarious. It was the same when the iPhone was all the rage, there would be various iPhone knock-offs with various degrees of resemblance to the real thing.
I've recently been looking for a new smartwatch, and, surprise surprise, this Cardieo ad started popping up all over. Don't worry, I didn't fall for it, knew everything they were claiming couldn't be possible for $50, spent my hard-earned money on a Ticwatch pro 3 instead.
I bought a smartwatch for $8 on Amazon, brand new. They're sold under a number of names. It has a camera, bluetooth, and if you like you can even put a SIM in and use it as an independent phone. But Bluetoothed up to my main phone, it alerts me to txt messages, and shows them. It tells me who's calling. It can play music, either remote controlling the phone, or off it's own SD card you can put in. It will drive your Bluetooth headphones. Battery needs charging every few days depending how much you use it. Internally they're usually just a Mediatek mobile phone-on-a-chip, everything to make a phone on one chip. A cheap, 2G phone, admittedly. But the software they run is geared towards being a watch primarily. TH-camrs have reviewed them, the model's a few years old now, dunno what the state of the art is. You don't expect much for $8 (and the shipping is reasonable, they aren't making up the price in the shipping), but you should be very impressed by what you get for almost nothing. It even has a remote-camera mode, where you can view the phone's camera on the watch's screen. Not sure about vice-versa. But I used it once when my friend cut my hair. Using the phone I could see the back of my head. Great! So, consider this an unpaid advert. There's several brands, the way China works, is that companies trade information, and small companies can get chips in reasonable quantities. So they crop up using the reference design, or else just copying each other, and cheap stuff like this happens. Check out Amazon or Ebay or wherever and search for smartwatches below, say, $20. Pick one you like.
I bought one online for $39. I too, was skeptical about all the claims. When I set it up with my iPhone using their app, FitPro, it does have a sleep tracker, distance and calories tracker for various exercises. It also makes and receives calls form the watch itself provided that my smartphone is no more than 33 feet away. I haven't tested the distance yet. I routinely check my heart rate, blood pressure and O₂ level with the touch screen function. I have heard people say that their watch doesn't charge properly. There are two dots on the back of the watch. Align them with the corresponding dots on the cradle and begin charging. When fully charged, you will see 4 green bars when you turn the watch on. So far, I have been happy with the purchase. It does have a lot of functionality for the price.....just sayin'
I'm one of the FIRST YAY!! Also who got a ad for this watch on yt about this guy who had a $300 apple watch and his wife had the $50 Cardieo watch and talked about how it was better and all that BS. I LOVE YOU KRAZY KEN
I bought these as kids presents for Christmas. Order date Dec 7, with delivery before Dec 25. I ordered 5 watches + 5 "5-pack coloured bands" + 1 insurance + 1 wall charger at 3 am PST. At 8 am PST, I called them to ask to reduce the order down to 2 watches and 2 '5 pack bands. I was told this is not possible as the order is processed and shipped. As a compensation, they will refund $40 (which they did). After many follow ups, They sent me some sort of fake link on Dec 21st saying the order is out for delivery. But the link was dead with no tracking for the delivery. It was a USPS deadlink. It finally arrived on Jan 14.
Now what I do and have done for a year is to record all calls to and from companies on *cassette tape* via an external, wired microphone that i drape over my neck and use speakerphone. *note*- when ANY number you call says “this call may be recorded”, know that all calls always are, and all calls have an ID number attached that you can ask for! Also know that you have to let them know you’re recording the call too, or it will not be admissible if anything goes to court. They’ll either give a quick ok, or 3/4 the time hang up on you as soon as they know you’re recording them “for quality assurance purposes”, of course (they REALLY HATE THAT!). I use cassette because it’s in my hand, not a dang “cloud”. Not on any net-connected devices, cannot be digitally altered or infected with any virus. Just a tape. I highly recommend using storage, like magnetic tapes, with *zero net connection, zero computer file that can be manipulated*. Thrift stores sometimes have buckets full of recorders. Brand new blank cassettes are surprisingly expensive, but any flea market or neighborhood yard sale will have crappy tapes from crappy bands for $0.05-$0.25 each. Put a pice of scotch tape over the square holes on top and you’re Golden to record over early 80’s Rod Stewart. Point is, if away from magnets, cassette tapes are amazing for storage that no on-line person can touch.

The only way to avoid being scammed is to know this;
Noting ”good” comes cheap,
And as you said, improve the bullcrap detectors
Depends on your expectations. There are good cheap products, but they won't have all features.
Just be sure about what you really need and want. Buying stuff for the sake of having it is never a good idea
@Enmity the Kindhearted I’m poor as well but I’m just too scared to loose my money buying some faulty product on eBay 😂. I’d rather just save

I absolutely love this 'pivot' you've made to your channel over the last year+. So good to see these companies get called out - because there are legit good products that might seem like scams, and there are bad products that look good.
It would've been funny if the guy on the phone said "You are Kitboga?"
Or Jim Browning.
Or atomic shrimp
I think I have a Cardieo or anything else that represents an Apple Watch Series 6. It has a MTK chip, software and even firmware

“It even looks and feels like an Apple Watch- oh wait, we forgot, it is!”
Pick one you like.
haha! dang I almost bought one till watching your video!Glad I did! 🤣😂🤣

"This $49 Smart watch does all. Minus the huge price tag" 😂
