As a Bristolian I’ve been around that harbour my entire life, but never got to actually boat in it, looks awesome 😊

If you moor above Bradford wharf services, and go into the village you must call in at the three horseshoes pub. The best pub and customers and landlord are so welcoming and friendly people 🍺🍷👍

Apparently to help with leaky lock gates, drop your barge pole on the high water side of the gate to try and block the gap... seen a few others do it.. 👍

@@DanniandJoe … I’ve travelled up from southern Spain through France, along south coast of uk to Devon and Cornwall, up to Somerset then over to wales. Up to Brecon Beacons then across to Cotswolds. Then Buckinghamshire to see family and friends… back down to Devon and currently back in Cornish Cornwall! Not a patch on where you guys have been but I’m trying ! Lol. X
Great video guys, and Happy birthday to you Danni. You’ve given me an adventure that I never got to do when moored in Keynsham. I know Bristol well, but didn’t venture down there to the dock land, but I always wanted to. It looks amazing. Maybe in the future I’ll get there.

Great to see you enjoying my home town. I’ve seen some of it from the water on Harbour Ferry trips but nice to see up to Netham and beyond as I’ve not been up that far. Love the way you switched the music to a bit of D&B as you came into town too 😊

Yeah I’ve driven over Netham many times so cool to pass it on the water! Haha, I was thinking I must be the first person to put some Drum and Bass over a Narrowboat video. We seen they’ve knocked Blue Mountain down when we headed up Stokes Croft!!

Awesome! If you wanted to get into the harbour itself the only way in is to buy a boat with a mooring there already as you may have already seen they closed off the waiting list to even apply!

I’ve just read that parts of Bristol Harbour are 10 (TEN!!) metres deep, with the “shallowest” depth still being around 5 (five) metres.
You definitely and absolutely DO NOT want to drop you phone into that water - could you imagine?
For those of you still using feet/inches 10 metres is equal to around 32 feet at its deepest and 15 (ish) feet at its shallowest 😳
That’s pretty deep and like I said, imagine if you dropped your new phone into the harbour area.... you’d need to find a certified SCUBA diver....or something like that 🤔

That plate of food looked awesome and your cooking skills are clearly better than mine 😁.
As a tip, we use sections of astro turf as protective mats for items that we place on our boat roof. We put them grass side down, which acts like a brush kind of thing and allows the paint on the roof to breath, so that it doesn't sweat and peal. Also it prevents scratching too, when you move stuff around.

Nice video guys, I used to do that trip regularly in my boat called Blackthorn. Sadly had to part with it when Keynsham marina got too expensive. You’ve probably realised by now that the tide doesn’t actually effect the passage down the river into the floating harbour.
Yeah marina’s have gotten expensive most places on the K&A but the west end in particular! Yes soon realised it’s to control the water level via the river 😫😂 really loved that trip though we’d love to do it again

Just back from Mexico so now blitzing the Danni and Joe's that I've missed while away. This was one of your best, I do like the narrow boat videos and looking forward to the London trip. Keep doing what you do great fun coming along on your adventures
Hi Paul, hope you had a great time away! Where abouts in Mexico did you go? Top of Danni's list is Mexico!
My son Ted just graduated and one of his besties at Southampton uni was a Mexican chap who invited him to stay in Mexico city. He went out first for a week there while we followed to a resort in Riviera Maya for 2 weeks and Ted flew Aero Mexico to join us. It was great for him that he was shown around by a local and got a great view of the capital. Big bonus for Danni - Mexico City is at 7300ft altitude there are no mosquitoes and it's a whole lot cooler and less humid than the coast. After Ted joined us he did a one on one scuba (only 97 USD). Other stuff expensive though and you need a careful eye on security depending on where you go in Mexico. I'm no expert but I know Joe is a "Long way round" fan and on "long way up" Ewan and Charlie converted a bus to take them covertly through the Mexican countryside. You probably aren't sunlounger /pool people, (though you are always full of surprises!) A good trip we did was to Chichen itsa the Mayan city with the pyramids but man it was hot. Enjoy Mexico if you do go and take your video camera!!

@@DanniandJoe fyi Chichen Itsa and other monuments charge for use of GoPro and/or tripods. Phone based videos are free though for some reason.
The security situation does need careful checking. Armed Marines patrol the beach even in Cancun area - we used to see them going up and down on quad bikes and they had a little gazebo on the beach near our resort where they were based. Some regions are extremely dangerous and not recommended for tourists. I know you'll do your research though. 😄🌵
@@paulcharleton3208 yeah I’ve seen some videos of the marines patrolling the beaches, little bit surreal that. I’ve read a bit too much to be honest, it’s the organ trafficking horror stories that worry me 😫
Hi Danni, Joe, What a lovely cruise, and in your home waters too. Hope you had a wonderful Birthday Danni. Is Bristol Harbour Tidal? I'm guessing it is, so do you always moor up going against the flow of the River (for better maneuverability). Joe well done for getting the boat in the right position for getting your water. Perhaps try having a weighty Ball type of thing on the end of your rope as you throw it, you would have easily reached Danni (doing that) waiting on the River wall ready to pull the boat across the small gap. So we found out that the harbour isn’t tidal, they call it the floating harbour so it’s essentially one giant lock is the easiest way I could get my head around the, the river is separated from it at Netham lock. The wind is the worst thing in big open areas like the harbour or a marina it’s surprising how much it takes you! Ooooh good shout on the hose pipe with a weight!

Just subscribed... first watch.. my old boat seen within first 5 mins.. live in Brissle but because of "clean air" (well not really, nothing wrong with air in Brissle, maybe in some spots during rush hour) i don't go into.... you enjoy Brissle, its a lovely city.. its a shame our local councils are spoiling it for all, but a few.... just my opinion.... rant over ha ha... happy birthday.
Ahh awesome! Love Bristol, we’re lucky to have it as our local city. Not keen on the zone either as our little 1.3 Toyota is still £9 but the dirty stinking old diesel boat was fine 😂
@@DanniandJoe thanks for the comment/reply... and don't knock the diesel. up till about 10/15 years ago everyone (including government) were pushing to get people to use diesel much like they are trying to push gas now.... also diesel is cheaper to produce so more profit.. shock horror!!!!!

Awesome! It’s easy enough there’s two visitor mooring places either Arnolfini (where we were which has gated access via a code you’ll get when you book) or there’s some opposite SS Great Britain, you don’t get allocated a berth as such just if there’s space you can moor!

It’s got it’s perks, we’re really enjoying it at the minute but it will get tough in winter. We’re saving £350 a month on not having a mooring which is great too 😂

Did your drinking water hose actually go in the river? So river water got inside the hose?
Yeah it went full dunk, we always rinse it thoroughly before we use it anyway. We need to strengthen our immune system for our trip at the end of the year
