- When you think about the UK's coolest city, you might not instantly think of Bristol but it has been given the title by various outlets so we paid it a visit to find out why!
Join us as we explore the historic Bristol Harbour which is absolutely buzzing with activity. We pay a visit to the M Shed museum to find out a bit about Bristol's History, see the iconic Brunel's SS Great Britain and try some amazing greek street food at Cargo 2.
Of course Bristol is famous for it's street art and being the home of the world famous Banksy, we couldn't visit without finding at least a few of his iconic works.
After a ride on the Bristol Wheel we get to see a more historic side to the city as we visit Bristol Cathedral, Christmas Street Steps and possibly the most famous Bristol landmark, The Clifton Suspension Bridge.
We end our visit to Bristol in one of the most unexpected ways, scrambling down 'The Gulley' on the hunt for wild goats and we are definitely not left disappointed. So is Bristol the UK's coolest city? Well it's definitely up there!

Who & what is JJ Extra?
We’re Josh & Jason, a British couple with a passion for everything travel & food (and lots of coffee). Whether at home in the UK or on our international travels we seek out everything from hidden gems to bucket list destinations, trying new foods and unique drinks wherever we go.
After meeting in early 2019 with dreams of travelling the World together we were all plunged in to the chaos of a global pandemic. Now, as we move in to the future we are making up for lost time and ensuring every day turns in to an adventure, fuelled by our love of food and an unhealthy (but enjoyable) addiction to coffee.
Over the last 2 years we have explored our beautiful home country like never before and in 2022 we were lucky enough to start travelling abroad once more and our dream to travel the world together has been reignited.
We love an adventure and in 2023 we are challenging ourselves to step out of our comfort zones & push ourselves to the limit as we take on bigger adventures than ever before, visit new places & try new experiences. So come along and join the adventure, you never know where it might lead!

You can stop in the Harbourside information Centre & grab maps of the Banksy artworks around the city. The one you liked with the man hanging out the window is a cheeky nod to the health clinic that lives/lived in that building.
Bristol is a lovely city, haven’t been for several years, makes me want to go back! Bristol reminds me of Brighton, cosmopolitan, left field, anything goes!
It’s beautiful, we didn’t really have any expectations so it took us totally by surprise!
I live in Bristol, I agree a lovely city, but the people I can't get the people.
Fake almost, certainly no honest.
Bristol is great if visiting for the landmarks but not necessarily to live. It’s overpopulated (I think it’s the highest percentage growth city over the last decade) and it’s super expensive to live. To rent somewhere under 1k might you might get a flat, and a couple on a combined salary of 100k plus might get you a mortgage on a 2 bed house away the away from the central areas. Traffic is real bad a peak times and theres now a clean air zone with poor signage so any slip ups in your Diesel car will get you a fine. For every nice bakery or cafe there is 4 kebab shops. I’ve been here a long time so naturally my opinion will be different to others.
Thank you for sharing. Obviously we can only comment on the city from a visitors perspective so it's good to get some local perspectives for anyone who may be considering making it their home.
Love being a true Bristolian, lived here all my life, now in Ashton vale 15 minutes walk to Ashton court were I can play my favourite sport, disc golf on the amazing 24 basket course 🥏👍
Oh we’ve never played disc gold but it looks a lot of fun. We would need to be somewhere remote though otherwise people and property could be in danger 😂
Weve been to Bristol before but now seeing it totally differently, always liked it there, but need to go back and explore properly
Yes you definitely do and don’t forget to climb down in to the giants cave and stand on the grated floor hanging high above the gorge 😂
Thanks for showing us around in Bristol 😉🇬🇧
Our pleasure!
I am so happy I stumbled across this video AND your awesome channel!!!
I am a week away from a trip to Oxford for work (I work for MINI) and also taking a few pleasure days to visit The Cotswolds, Bath, Bristol and a couple of friends from Los Angeles who moved to Cardiff last year. Your videos were absolutely perfect for planning my excursions and things to see and do.
I love your vibe, and the videos are so much fun! Thanks again, and if you make it back to the States and visit Ptown or Palm Springs, let me know.
Welcome 🤗 glad to hear you’re enjoying the channel and the videos are helping! Sounds like you are about to have a fun time on your pleasure days. All great places to visit and still outside peak season so fingers crossed for some good weather 🌞
@@JJExtra thanks! I’m really looking forward to it. I’m most excited about getting some warm Welsh cakes! Keep up the great work! 👏
@@JJExtra I had the most amazing time! Weather was nearly perfect and it rained only one afternoon while I was in Oxford.
Sunny and beautiful in The Cotswolds, Bath, Bristol and Cardiff. Visited most of the places you recommended and all were on point.
Thanks again for the awesome videos and suggestions to make my trip fun!
You should pop back when it’s sunny it’s gert lush then ! There’s normally music or a festival on every corner in the summer:)
Hi boys! Ive been to Bristol some years ago. It's changed a lot. Thanks. Beautiful place. Hugs from Argentina
Hi Jorge! It is a beautiful place, happy we could show you how it is now.
Hiya, only been through Bristol on a coach, just last week in fact, but I'd love to visit there for a couple of days x
It’s a great place to visit so hope you manage to get that couple of days next time 😊
Nice video. The church with no roof at the begining was in an area destroyed in the blitz in the war, and left as a memorial.
My auntie and uncle live in clevedon which is near bristol and its lovely,my nan and dad and grandad is buried there xx
The only thing missing in Bristol, is a decent football team, sadly!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Oh my, there's a Bristol Connecticut here in the US. . . I wonder how similar they are. . . Also, nice hat and phenomenal hair, Josh!!!
Maybe we can all go one day and find out for ourselves?! The hat is pretty cool right? 🤪
Did u not go up Cabot Tower on Brandon Hill ... as I know u like high towers with a great view at the top
We didn’t…. This time but we will definitely be back as we already have a whole other itinerary of things to do! The tower of course being one of them!
@@JJExtra ur a cute couple .. love josh without his cap on , like his hairstyle
Definitely come back ... did u stay over night ??
Not in Bristol itself no…. Maybe next time!
Nick Park is from Preston, Lancashire 😀
The cathedral is modelled on Notre Dame
what a fun place! We have a herd of Goats in Seattle who roam around eating brush in certain areas too! but more urban than a hiking trail! lol
Oh now that we have to see one day! Plus we want to go to Seattle anyway 😂
@@JJExtra it would be fun to have you here! I could be your tour guide! lol
Yo guys would be great to see some home vlogs at some point like you did on your other channel a year or so ago 🎉
Hi Jack, we are primarily a travel channel. The home vlogs were something we started during the lockdowns so we have no plans to go back to them. Never say never though! 😊
Hi guys where you hanging out just on way to Folkestone glorious sunshine today
Hi mark! We’ve literally just drove past Folkestone but not stopping there today - the weather is beautiful 🤩 hope your having a great weekend 😊☀️
❤
Bristol is a cracking place
That's right. No prevaricating around the bush!
The creator of Wallace and Gromit is from Preston he went to uni in Bristol
""Bristol wheel"? when was that happened?
We have no idea but it was good fun 😂
I've had the misfortune of going to Bristol ....
lads you aint missed the balloon fiesta, what you missed the other month would have been the harbor festival, and is Bristol the coolest city in the UK ? damn right right i was born and bred here lol
Great vid you guys are the best by the way my names Henry and I’m 10 years old I use my mummy’s account ! P.S I like your hair josh !
Thanks Henry 😊
bro its a nice place to visit but I've been living here all my life but after a couple of years its just becomes your normal city
So true wherever you live but always nice to know visitors enjoy your home town/city 😊
Start in Mickey Zoggs next time lads
Again
the show is cool baseballcup cheesy
not top of my list to visit
It wasn’t top of ours either but we were pleasantly surprised!
i live here, and its alright but the schools here are SHIT. pretty okay though its nice for a visit
We definitely enjoyed our visits but totally get a city is very different through the eyes of tourists compared to living there 😊
@@JJExtra yeah totally, its a cool city tho!! lots of fun things to do
Lived there for 38 years and most people from there think its shit. The only people who think its cool and edgy are those not from Bristol. It's over priced and over rated. It's been ruined and gentrified by hipsters from London/South East. Had a vibrant music seen 15-20 years ago and the centre had some interesting shops but now it's over priced shit.
That's odd. Most of the Bristolians I speak to daily like living here (as I have done for 36 years).
@@The_Original_Geoff_B Most I knew though it was too gentrified.
I'm from bristol and totally agree
I was there last week and wasn’t impressed, aggressive beggars, drunks, drug dealing, was glad to leave!
You are joking. Around and about it’s got some nice areas. However, the city center is dying, especially with its 15 minute city rules.
"15 minute City rules"??
Is Bristol safest city in UK?
Hell no, serious problems there regarding poverty, gangs and hard drug use.
Coolest city not safest city it can't be the safest city the population is to big
Bristol ain’t that cool
💩 hole, coolest city 😂😂😂
Crap city far to woke.
its the wokest city
you sayin thats a bad thing mate?
Duh
Proud of it.
It's called being normal
@@danielhooper502no
It's a rubbish city now full of immigrants, druggies and beggars. You cannot walk anywhere now without being approached by people who are looking for "spare change"Crime rate is high and every night ambulances tearing through the streets. M Shed on a weekend is crawling with drunks who end up fighting and to combat this the police arrive on horseback. Am I biased? you bet I am. I have travelled the world for more than 30 years and had never been bothered. I come to Bristol to visit my daughters I get accosted by people lookimg for money for drugs and when I say that I do not have any money on me they insist on walking me to an ATM.
The most woke soy extreme left city... Far from cool
😮😅😅😅 Bristol 😅😅 another Tory ubend false advertising for a true blue slurry pit
You need to do some fact-checking.
Bristol has not had a Conservative -led Council this century.
There has never been a Conservative Mayor of Bristol.
All 4 parliamentary constituencies are held by Labour.
So please do explain your "reasoning".
I'm not a Tory, but I wish there was some more Tory balance from the ultra-left Woke City Council and Mayor
As a bristolian living in Canada I can confirm that this is the best city. For ppl not familiar think Banksy, skins and me 🫠😂
No bias at all lol - but we certainly loved it!
@@JJExtra not biased at all 😂 can’t wait to go back 😇
