Thanks for the link. We are giving it a try!
@@NarrowboatNogginTheNogamazing!! We truly love it, let us know what you think ☺️
I just so enjoy your videos, the pair of you get on so well!
Thank you!
You guys are totally awesome
Thank you!!
Please make sure you test your CO alarm(s) before running a generator on your back deck. Petrol engines are pretty dangerous compared to diesels and there have been incidents where fumes have been drawn in through vents, etc. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying I'd be devastated to see either of you come to any harm.
Thanks for the concern - yeah we regularly check the CO & smoke alarms, usually we’ll leave the generator on the tow path it was mainly to film easier (bit quieter the further away too )
Omg. You made pogo the dog into a rug near the door! 😁
😂😂
So happy y’all got the floating phone cases!!!
Enjoyed your video as well!
Thank you!
Great video plenty happening and a joy to watch as always. Have great week😊
Thank you!
great overview and honest dialogue. Narrowboat life is similar yet so different to our liveaboard style on the west coast of Canada. But life at less than 5 knots is so great!
We’d love to visit Canada, Le Boat who we went to France with have hire boats out there somewhere I’m guessing that’s the west coast too?
@@ItsOhJoe Le Boat is avail in Canada, but in the east - two places - the Rideau Canal and the Trent-Severn Waterway. Out on the west coast, on our inland lakes we have a thriving 'Houseboat' for hire industry but nothing at all like Narrowboats. 🤔
Great vlog love the variety. Your boats so homely. Best wishes ❤
Thank you!!
Wow. The aerial lock footage was sensational in the sunlight. Love the new mug Danni ❤. I got a bit worried you were not going to include the new segment “Beer of The Week” 😂😂😂👍👍
Thank you! 😂😂 it’s because we’d already started filming before the last video went up & had a few people quite interested so though crap I’d better make sure to do it again!
I love the little Cat-shaped Carped you have in front of your steps. Seen it first time today.
Yeah a few people pointed it out this video - we’ve had it a while I can’t remember where it’s from!
Are you sure you gave the dog back.? Looks like you e made a rug out of the poor fellow at the bottom of the stairs 😂
😂😂 he’s still fine I promise!
Phew! Thank goodness i thought you were going to leave your wheelbarrow behind, but I saw it on the boat later 😮😉
😂😂
Still in my neck of the woods then . I messaged you when you were moored near Willowtree marina and I seem to remember that we both came down with the lurgy at the same time . That Swingbridge at Hemel (Winkwell) is a serious pain in the derrier as it constantly breaks down and the local s using that road to get to the A41 arent very patient. Safe travels people , Enjoy
Fingers crossed this stoppage works then! Thank you!
Love watching you two.
Thank you!
I feel you pain not being able to go where you want to must be so frustrating, but if you carnt, you carnt, hopefully they will be done what they are fixing and you will be on your way to more adventures, good luck guys, 😁👍
Thank you!
Danni, try adding a small handful of cashew nuts with oat milk for extra creaminess.
I would love to see more of your foraging and culinary skills. 💚
Please don't use cashew nuts. It does horrible damage to the poor women who harvest them.
Great video. Born n breed in Croxley for 35 years before emigrating to Australia in 1993. On the right at Croxley lock use to be John Dickinsons paper mill where they made Croxley Script paper. That river you looked at was the cooling water for the mill paper process and the green weed you saw was a slimy pink colour back in the 60's and used to steam as it was so warm! Had many a happy day fishing there as a kid and the moor was an airfield for aeromodellers especially at the weekend. Should have gone for a walk to the Green at Croxley and hence it's name Croxley Green.
So much history in this area!
I enjoy your videos even if youre not doing lots of moving or adventuring (or renovating😅), Its nice to see just actual life.
Wild garlics out in force in south Wales! So itll be wild garlic and nettle soup for me 😊
Honestly we’re in a no wild garlic zone, not a single leaf!! We’ll have to get some when we’re back in Somerset- yeah can’t beat a wild garlic soup!!
Loved the video, always entertaining.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love your videos. Am in bath keynsham and Bristol on Wednesday first time in a couple of years
Thank you! Love Bristol, enjoyed our time in Keynsham too! Watch out for the infamous cycle lane kerb situation!
Great job with the nettle soup and the sour dough bread danni. I so want to learn how to make that ! Lisa xx❤
Thank you!
Hi Danni, Hi Jo,
Danni had you ever thought of doing a video about foraging along the canal and all of the different plants one can find. The video could also tell how one could use the different plants.
Joe do yourself a favor and let others have the pets. You can always offer to look after them and then return them. You guys really don't need the extra expenses and responsibilities that a pet entails.
You guys are great! Stay healthy and busy and YES "cabin fever" is very real lol, been there done that.
Mark
Alberta, Canada
I've got a cat for company, OK on the narrowboat but I'm careful where I moor. He was 6 months old rescue boy, very handsome.
Cost about £400 -£500 pa
Yeah we plan to do some foraging videos when we’re in a better season, there’s wild garlic out but not in this area unfortunately!
If you're still around the area, there is a great taproom in Rickmansworth called Wishful Drinking- a small local business with a great selection of local beers and cidres- well worth a visit!
Ah nice! Will save it for future reference, we did visit Anchor Tap & Bottle in Croxley that was nice!
Brilliant as always ❤
Thank you!
Goodun as they say in zumerzet see you both soon luv pops
❤️❤️❤️
My floating phone cases what next but useful and save money good vlog both keep well warm and tc luvfromus oldies 👍👍🤗🤗

I was enjoying some of my favorite Bourbon, so the movement was just a added enjoyment 😂
Michael from Omaha Nebraska.
😂😂
I watch you two for your accents . lovely doggie
😂😂 thank you!
I have made cordial from Gorse before, pick on a really sunny day, rinse well before hand as little bugs like it.
That sounds great! We’ve made elderflower before and a couple others
Thank you again. I'm currently at anchor in Vero Beach FL
Beautiful what’s the weather like there at the minute?

Slowest waterpoiint I’ve had on the GU… hopefully catch you for a beer soon 🤞
Painfully slow!!
Ok, just subscribed. Looks like I'm around subscriber number 22.269960K or something. 😁 I enjoy the ambience you guys have. Very relaxing and just a "come along for the ride" type of thing. 👍 Take care.
Thank you! Appreciate it
Always a good watch on a Sunday afternoon with a glass or 2 of red wine of the week!!!
Perfect!
If you think that was slow filling your water tanks wait until you get to Fenny Stratford the water flow takes you to a whole different level of slow
Oh no 😫😂
I love the inside of Your boat Joe, the fit out is great especially the galley area, I’m only 42’ trad but desperately needs refitting out, but living aboard makes it almost impossible. I hope to say hello assuming you are eventually heading north on the GU? I’m normally somewhere between Marsworth and Northampton area ( north of Blisworth tunnel). Look after that BMC! 👍🏻
I found a guy who was able to refit the galley for me, he was also a liveaboard boater but has a workshop. I reckon it costs about £500 per week, and this is the skilled stuff, I do the tidy up, some prep, and the painting. No way could I fit out and liveaboard. Though if you have a van it might be possible.
Yes we’ll be up that way in a couple of months hopefully! Thanks for kind words on the fit out!
Hello - looks like someone has bought that canal cottage for £386,000 last year. Great video guys safe journey
Yeah I saw the old auction page! Hopefully it gets refurbished into a lovely home for someone!
Im sure that abandoned lock keepers cottage was a compulsory purchase by the HS2, so dont know what will happen to it but would be very surprised if it wasn't demolished sometime this year!!
Ah really! Such a shame. I did find an old auction sale from last July I think
Brewing is tricky without some sort of temperature control. Can you keep it at 72F for Ales? Lagers will need 50F. If the temperature goes up above 80, the alcohols will make it taste like crap. So you’ll need a cellar or an air conditioner.
Yeah it’s definitely going to be ales only. The temperature under the bed is pretty cool & stable, plus we can warm that room when necessary with the diesel heater, I guess it’ll be a kind of cellar!
Thanks for an interesting video❤
Thank you!
The Americans named their beer after the best beer they knew: Budweiser from Budwa. My grandfather, a fireman from West Berlin, loved his beer. He called American beer “Poopswasser” or “fart water,” because its made from rice and makes you fart. Cheers!
😂😂😂
Joe and Danni, thanks for your efforts in putting together another video on your day to day life. I am assuming things are a bit at a low point now with the winter weather and canal closures, meaning you are stuck in the house.
Sounds like keeping the water tank filled is somewhat of a nuisance, 400 litres doesn't go very far. I can see why that size water tank is used on a narrowboat, given the space it takes up and 400 kg of weight, which I assume affects ballast and hull draft.
Those portable generators can surprisingly easily poison you with carbon monoxide. Here in the US, the rule of thumb is to locate the generator 25 feet/8 meters away from the house. However, in my 40 years of using them, you also have to take into account the wind direction, so you are not blowing the exhaust towards your, or someone else's house. Running your generator on your roof, temporarily closing off nearby roof vents, might be your safest option.
If you have the roof space, I recommend adding as many solar panels as possible.
You are a stone's throw away from me so I'm giving you a virtual 👋🏻 👋🏻 You better hope the stoppages end quickly as I sometimes walk along that part of the canal, you might bump into me. Cassiobury park is nice between the canal and river. 👍🏻
😂😂 say hello if you do see us! Lovely area here!
Forgot to say the soup sounds and looks delicious
Might make some when we’re back!
Its always painful when you get a stoppage
FYI Joe, brewing as a hobby is infectious. Cheap to start but can soon run away with you. Talking from experience. Started during lockdown now looking to build a small home pub and brew room !!!!!
Try blending some cashew nuts into you oat milk also. Great vlog!! xxx
If your hose pipe is 1/2 inch (15mm) change it to a 3/4 inch (20mm). it will allow a much higher water flow.
It’s limited at the tap end, this one’s known to be painfully slow (usually we can fill up within 30 minutes with our 1/2” hose)
@DanniandJoe take a bucket. See how long it takes to fill at the tap. Try the same test at the end of the hose with the hose full. If both the same all well and good. If it's a lot less, the resistance of the hose pipe is reducing the flow. It's awesome watching your videos.
Danni, I love pineapple salsa...YUM!
It’s so good isn’t it!
We have a similar dog, a cockapoo absolutely best decision we ever made.
Ahh lush!
Hey Croxley Green. Ive been there 🙂
The green itself it beautiful!
Come and work in the clinical hub as a MH nurse at YAS. Loads of canals around here, and I'll make you a brew!
Might take us a year to get up there! 😂😂
@@ItsOhJoe yeah, but what a year!!
@MrFrontrowrules 100%!
Firstly apologies. Been watching your episodes regularly and only now I realised I hadn’t subscribed. I have now!! So sorry I didn’t before!!
1) didn’t know that’s how you pronounced that beer. (I’ve made an arse of myself for decades ordering that in pubs in Scotland as it turns out..😂)
B) what’s the generator? Is it reliable?
I do consultancy work in an off grid cabin in my field in summer (reduces stress if you can chill out at a laptop overlooking the countryside in Aberdeenshire) ..but my leisure batteries need carrying a fair distance to my PowerPoint to charge them.
So a small number that chucks out 2kw like that would be ideal!
Take care and one more subscriber!
Col.
😂😂 thanks for subscribing! Yeah we’ve been getting on fine with the generator www.screwfix.com/p/impax-im1900sig-1700w-inverter-generator-240v/645JJ?tc=JQ6&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiA84CvBhCaARIsAMkAvkLwa-Dg_gctYo44I7rityPY1rQVQBn9_lVcLhDvcD9OuPPhaRTXm88aAqx8EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
We had to get one that Screwfix had in stock as we didn’t have anywhere to send it address wise at the time. If you have a hunt around online there’s better spec ones for a bit less money but it’s not too bad for £450 really
It’s a great pint! Pilsner Urquell even better if you can get it. We both have a soft spot Tennents, really enjoyed the tour whilst we were in Glasgow 😂
Oat milk is best when you mix oats, water and a couple of dates. Blitz it up and then use a straining bag to get the moisture out. It's great, but not in hot drinks... Also doing that, you can reuse the oats in flapjacks etc..
Oooh the dates sound a great addition!
Just 2 comments. You can buy longlife oatly, with the UHT milk in shops. Also those yellow flowers are gorse. 😊
Wicked NHS t shift. Good video as usual
Thank you!
You can't beat a good lanyard. 🤣
😂😂
I’m going to try and not go to a supermarket in March just do farmers market. Going to try raw milk.
Enjoy Watford area!
I buy filtered milk, lasts 7 days raw milk is 48hours.
Thank you! You can get some amazing food from local markets - how it should be!
Hi Danni and Joe. Do you travel on the Chesterfield cannel and Newark canal at all. Or are you further away from the Midlands ❤️
Potentially in the future! We’re still quite south of the midlands at the minute
Hi... I'm Daniel, greetings from Brazil.
I am an admirer of the English canal boat lifestyle and one of the doubts and curiosities is the legal issues of having a boat and using it on the canals.
Just as we pay taxes and fees for owning a car or motorcycle, we also pay tolls and fees for traveling on highways, also with boats and canals is the the same principle?
What are the taxes and fees that a boat must pay periodically to navigate the English canals and park along its banks?
Thanks ❤
Hey Daniel! Check out this video - Is It Really Cheap Living On A NARROWBOAT? Self Converted Floating Home
th-cam.com/video/URx_tOvhNRQ/w-d-xo.html we go through all the costs and licenses etc
Add cashew nuts for creaminess or perhaps walnuts.
Thanks will try it!
The picture at the end reminded me of a scene from the movie "Strange Brew". If you watch it, research "Bob and Doug McKenzie" first or some of the jokes will go right over your head.
I’ll see if we can watch it!
The sound of people falling out of love..😮
Hi Joe, I don’t know if you can get it in England but the best beer I have ever tried in the world is called Sam McGill Filipino beer
Ah yes ‘San Miguel’ - that’s a nice beer, most people don’t realise it’s from the Philippines because of its Spanish name
There must be something about you two. As like your (almost) last words at the end of the video, I had a thought near the middle "What is this all about?".
And yet, thats exactly was all is about ... living. OK?
That’s very kind thank you!
Full menu for nettle soup please
Hi Joe, have you tried cooking a Paella yet?
Yeah we’ve done paella before, I’d say I’m more of a risotto man though! Especially a wine heavy one 😂😂
Oh that beer looked so good! American Bud is crap but Czech is way better.
They make some great beers!
Get rid of the Quick connector for your hose, its too restrictive, just go to a direct screw on type.
I did test it but didn’t make a difference this taps known to be painfully slow unfortunately
Did you take into account the fact that you were getting washed and using the washing machine while you were filling the water tank ?
Yeah whenever we fill up we’ll have a wash and put a wash on and still never takes more than 45/1 hour
👍
Cheers!
8:25 I see you skinned pongo . 🐶
😂😂

Thank you!
What drone do you have and is there a limit to the memory card you can use?
It’s a DJI Mini 3 Pro - I’ve got a 128GB in there,it’ll take a 256GB though
I wanted to try the readly app but they don’t have a option for Canada. 😒
Ahh no way! Sorry about that!
What sort of drone do you have & have you had many crashes?
We’ve got a DJI Mini 3 Pro at the minute, we’ve had a Mini 1 and Mini 2, crashed both of those & crashed the Mini 3 pro within a week of having it!
I’m thinking of getting a drone and the Mini 3 looks like the real deal. My thoughts are to fly it in fields till I get used to flying it. Then I when I’m used to it get a bit more adventurous. Do you have any tips or did you just jump in the deep end?
Hey there it’s Christian what does it cost you to live on the boat please

Slightly underdone homemade bread makes the best toast. With butter and jam of course!
Oooh yeah I’ve got some nice jam here I quite fancy that!
Your bud lager was flat think your glass was greasy or something 😢
Yeah I think you’re right, I gave it a little stir just to put some life into it after
Look up turbo cider very easy to make and dosnt take long
Can’t believe I’ve never heard of it! Might give that a go!

Stay positive guys. You had a bad start at the beginning of winter with the engine troubles and dud batteries, you overcame these OK and things seem to have settled down for you. I suspect a touch of cabin fever is a thing with tow path mooring at this time of the year it must get a bit lonely for you. Still canal stoppages will be lifted soon and you'll be on your way.
Thankyou for sharing your journey with us. Safe travel
Thank you!

:)
Thank you!
I keep my phone on the boat or in a zipped pocket.
Yeah zipped pockets always good - problem is we always use them for filming clips so it’s inevitable that they’ll be out of a pocket at some point 😫😂
I don't understand you youngsters. 'Cabin fever and don't know what to do'? I'm in my dotage now but when I was your age - and especially if I was with the person I loved - I would have kept the curtains closed, stayed in bed and loved like there was no tomorrow!!! 😅😅 On a more serious note, good vlog. Take care.
Unfortunately TH-cam wouldn’t like it if that’s what we were filming - wrong website!
I wish it had Turkish subtitles
Sorry about that!
@@ItsOhJoe Why are you sorry? You will make it perceive the language option as Turkish.
There are subtitles in other languages. You will add the Turkish language option.
Please don't wear your phone while it's on, it's so dangerous to your health, all thw radiation is concentrated at your organs . I always put my old phone on fly or just switch off or leave at home. Please, you are young and it breaks my heart to see young people doing this. Take care.
Eff Budweiser. Thumbs down.
A word of caution here. This was entertaining but now that the boat is basically finished, you are at risk of losing your uniqueness and differentiation from all the other bloggers who are showing their daily travels and life on the Cut. Your uniqueness was the content related to the renovation and the various systems on the boat. Consider carrying out constant improvements, upgrading tech, etc. to remain unique.
Hahawhat a dope
No, it’s a good point. Still going to watch. Hoping for DIY content in episodes to come. Fingers crossed for the Italian villa and spring/summer holiday content
That's a very costly 'want' of yours? The renovation is done! All boaters know that the costs never end because of the unexpected mechanical or structural problems and that is more than enough. Danni and Joe had planned to be abroad in warmer climes so seeing them discovering the difficulties of winter cruising is actually an added bonus. Surely the reason to buy a boat is to see life on the Cut - and the reason why people subscribe and watch??
Hahaha…. Boat nearly finished. Love the optimism!
