Joe Achillies slayed the car, though. Its weird how different reviewers have different takes. It makes you think it almost depends on what car they were last driving!!!
Happy to see the V6, but my god, the screens! I’m buying a car not a gaming PC! Also, only 7 years ago, the S5 was £48k on launch. Now it’s £68k. Twenty grand difference! Car market is absolutely mad right now.
Looks good, but no excuse for using piano black. I realize car design and development takes years, but this is something people have complained about for a long time. Audi made a conscious decision to ignore these complaints.
I've always wondered if these interior surfaces can be wrapped, I know for some models you can buy stick-on inlays. But it really shouldn't be a problem at this price.
Audi fucking went back bruh. My b9 s4 has basically no piano black it has a dark wood trim. The b9.5 s4 that entire wood trim piano black. I swear they smoking meth bro like wtf is that steering wheel 😭😭
I suspect that most people have no problem with piano black and we just hear TH-cam reviewers mention it because they need to complain about something. I have no problem with it in my Audis. I keep a microfiber cloth in my car and if I get smudges on the piano black surfaces or touchscreens I just give them a wipe. I have no issues with scratches on these surfaces because I don’t throw sharp, abrasive objects around inside my car. I honestly don’t know why people have a problem with piano black. Used tastefully in moderation I think it looks quite nice.
A return to form for Audi (well, mostly!). The thing with this though is that it’s moderately pricier than a new M340i and so it begs the question: what do you get over that car for your money? Superior lighting technology and a cool OLED display are definitely perks. But engine, dynamics, transmission and THE BRAKES (very noticeable downgrade for this gen of Audi A4/5) are superior in the M340i. To put the price into perspective, you can get a sub-10k miles 23 plate BMW approved used M3 Competition xDrive with ultimate pack (lasers, carbon bucket seats and largely all the mod cons) as well as the remainder of the manufacturer’s unlimited mileage warranty for only £2k more (i.e £70k) than this new Audi S5 (£68k). This isn’t a diss on Audi btw. I considered the prev S4/5 (which this replaces) but the diesel of that gen put me off. Also considered a C43 AMG but test driving the M340i cemented it over its competitors.
@@MrQuashu I have the current A5 (gen before this one). Your comment is on point. If I was buying now maybe I would go with BMW just on pricing, even when I love the a5 more looks-wise.
If you're not overly concerned about driving dynamics I can see your choice and Audi does have lovely interiors. Now the last Audi I had was B7 RS4 which was brilliant outside of it wanting to understeer a bit. The engine was fantastic too but I made the switch to a E92 M3 and haven't looked back since. After purchasing my G82 M4C I feel as though it's the best M car I have ever owned. The RS6 Avante would do nicely when I have kids someday if it's still around in some sort of variant.
The M340i handles better, has superior performance, better brakes, and costs 16% less. The only thing the Audi offers is a fresher look for today’s times, and for those who enjoy gadgets, it might be a better choice. However, everything else speaks in favor of the M340i. Also, keep in mind that the ZF transmission and the B58 engine are kings of reliability-a proven combination you can count on.
