    Guys, if you knew the story of bronze medalist:
    She had an injury in her leg, had to be operated, lost all funding, had to learn how to walk again (at beginning of this year), her husband supported financially her career, as well as home life, and then she got a medal which will allow her to get funding for upcoming months.
    What a beast!

      What injury did she get? I am amateur 800m runner and may have to have my leg operated on this week. Using this as inspiration

      Moraa beat Hodkinson at the Commonwealths; Reekie is presumably working hard to get back to form, Kipyegon might choose to run the 800m again & there are several others who'd love to be on the podium, so it's by now means a "two horse race"
      Now seems a pity Semenya was barred.

      @@fatbelly27 Very true. Things change rapidly in the world of track and field. Gill is phenomenal. Sorry to see Mu out of the Olympics but she was not in top form, injuries have affected her. The commentator said, when you're at your limit, you don't want to run any further than you have to. If that's the case, why did all the runners in the outside lanes run into the inside lanes by about half way down the back straight, instead of making a Bee-line for the start of the second bend?

    • @seanfitzpatrick7441
      @seanfitzpatrick7441 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think (I might be wrong I'm not a pro) it's because if you are at the front you controll the pace. Unless someone wants to run around you, they run at your speed. It would be better to get infront before the first bend and then be able to increase speed to force someone to run wider on that first corner than hope nobody does that to you. If your plan is to lead the whole race (which some don't want to do because it's just not their style) and if you go straight for the start of the first corner then you HAVE to get there first and hope nobody in a inside lane got around the starting bend at the same time you did, because they would have ever so slightly less distance to cover and could push you wide. You can also add that the leader doesn't run super tight on the bends to force someone to run even wider if they did want to come past. It's probably just calculated that if you want to lead it's better to get across quick rather than hope nobody has the chance to push you wide and make you run even further.
