Awesome video! I'm a veteran streaming device and Kodi user and have been using far more expensive streaming devices for a long time. I had a firestick that was just sitting in a drawer that was given to me, along with a 256 GB USB drive. I saw your video and after getting the necessary OTG cable, i did the setup and have it running in my home gym, and it works great! Ive got a few friends who use firesticks, and struggle with storage, so i sent them your video as well, now they are subscribed to your channel just like I am. Thank You!
I'm not much into saving stuff and fully understand what you said about external storage. I just want to be able to watch movies without buffering due to insufficient internal storage. Do you have a video on increasing internal storage?
Thank you very much. I view your site each time I want to expand my system. You are a great teacher for someone at my level of stupid. You explain the programs better than everyone I watch. Thank you again.
We cut the cord almost 2 years ago with Roku. We like it, but are switching to Fire Stick and want to be able to DVR and I found this video. I can't wait to watch some of your other videos. THANK YOU :)
I will tell you what's good about you: You speak clearly, explain it patiently; show it step by step; You are speaking loud enough unlike others who basically whisper. You have confidence and it shows. Speed on your TV is phenomenal and you explained it as to why. So, I will do the same. I have a 2Tb HDD and all the do-dahs. You showed it how and why of it - with no room for any doubts Now what is not good about you: You say this is an advanced video; granted. But you go into explanation like newbies are watching. Nothing wrong; but people like me who know a thing or two want to get into the "meat" of things quickly. I needed a lot of patience, went to sleep and woke up where I need to know something. So, it is really not bad but you are trying to help *everyone*, so I understand. Update: I did it. It works lightning fast and I am so happy as a pig in $hit. Now I do not have to worry about the 8Gb on the firestick. I can load all I want, take it with me in my travels and if I am bored with what the hotel offers, this one will help. I travel on biz with lot of time hanging around in the evenings. So, this is part of my packing. I will not leave home without it..... he...he...he. One more thing: Download the firestick app to your smart phone. It becomes the remote. Good thing about it is - a keyboard pops up when you want to type something fast and search. NO. I do not like Alexa. Hey, Thanks for everything....!!!
Made me laugh with the endless cords and cables there for a minute. But thanks for everything you do and I have been taking your advice for some time now.
I just watched this to see what you were talking about. This is great. I believe I understand. I am going to get a thumb drive and get es file. I am going to experiment to see how this works.
Sounds great, and just the sort of thing I need. But now I'm going to scan through your videos and see if you've done a similar thing, but hooking to a NAS instead - I've got one of those and if I can hook that in instead, I'll have even more storage and some protection for the data, too
When will you do a video that explains moving apps to an external storage device and operating them from there? Your videos are just great, keep it up.
I finally was able to download the app. I am trying to delete redundant files. I select all but I can't figure out how to highlight the delete button to remove the files ( they all have Kodi in the filename so I assume they are safe to delete). I also can't delete duplicate files. Please help.
I'm going to be doing this when I'm done with work. I'm going to redo my storage before I go to bed. I believe I have the materials like you do. We'll see!
Thanks. I'm going to give ES Pro a try. I have used other methods to transfer files back and forth and the regular version of ES was not very effective. I'll see how this works for me.
I'm loving this video! I have my 78 inch LG smart tv hardwired to my router. But I can't wait to add a 2T external storage to my stick. I'm running the Cobra Broadcasting App per your suggestion and it really works well along with my other add ons. I've already told my bro - law to subcribe to your channel if he wants his stick to run as good as mine.👍
Seriously great video, I have been wondering how to add external storage to the stick and move content, now I know. The ethernet idea appeals to me greatly so invested in one and a OTG cable. Be fun doing this and seeing if I can get it to work.
Yep got one of those, was the first thing I looked into... Indispensable for Firestick. Got an old 1tb hard drive plugged in, a flash drive and a game controller. I'm a big fan of SBCs but you can save yourself hassle installing these and get a Firestick 4k, a on sale it cannot be beaten.
I have connected up as you say and yes the drive is seen but now it will only connect to the network via wireless not the ethernet Not sure why this is. Great video and well explained, Thank you.
So, I ordered the OTG adapter (2pack) on Saturday. Amazon delivered today because I selected the funky delivery option. Got a USB card reader so I could use my SD micro cards that are sitting around like teenagers. Hooked up as shown, using the card reader with 64GB SD micro and nothing. No notification of external device added, just nothing. Diving into my parts adapter pack, I checked out the card reader on the PC, it was fine. Unfortunately neither of the OTG Adapters appeared to work on the Firestick or the Laptop (Via USB Mini to 'A' adapter). Amazon was great and I'm returning the non-operative parts to the UPS store tomorrow. So, should I just go looking for a OTG cable instead or re-try the adapter? And yes, I did order the correct part as listed above. You guidance is sought.
Sounds like a format issue. Firestick can only read fat32. Did you try for closing es file, then restarting the firestick? Should prompt you to reformat to proper format unless that drive simply isn’t compatible
You may have covered this, but what about video files that exceed 4G...? Have you interfaced your later hookups to allow the use of NTFS-formatted external drives that are not restricted to that file size limit...? Unless I'm misunderstanding, aren't high quality LONG videos too large to be compatible with the demo drive's format suggested in this video...?
You really should look into an android box if this is a concern to you. There are many limitations on the firestick for expansion. This is only for some people. Many android boxes are fully loaded with record direct to the box with plenty of storage and no limitations. If you want to know more about the best ones, let me know. We share them mostly on patreon and even give HUGE discounts on there (only for members)
Thank you so much but I have a couple questions. It did not ask for permission....just started up, why. Also how can I change the theme, I can hardly see where am.
Once again, the person I believe to be the guru on firestick, has produced another great video. Question. should I move apps to the external drive? If so, will they no longer appear on my home screen?
I wouldn't. I have about 40 apps and don't need to run any off external drive. I have it in case I need to move something temporarily or transfer to another device. But running apps can be done if you are in a bind
Very informative. Will this allow me to download movies and shows to replay later when I don't have internet access. I'd like to record content and play back in my RV. Thanks.
Get video. But I have a question . I see you have Sterling TV installed. I had that for 1 year, then they stopped doing monthly. Can you tell me how you are getting it? Thanks.
Look at the date this video was published. Older video, Sterling is no longer. We have better IPTVs we share now through Patreon. Hopefully you saw them
Thanks for sharing this video. I did want you to know that I followed your instructions exactly to add storage and an ethernet connection. I opted for the cable instead of the OTG adapter and a thumb drive instead of the 2tb drive. But it will not work on my Fire TV stick 4k after several attempts. In this configuration shown in the video my thumb drive works but the ethernet is not recognized and the stick only connects via Wi-Fi. To troubleshoot I did remove everything and only connected the ethernet adapter to the fire stick and only then does it recognize the ethernet connection. Have you by chance tried setting this up using the cable??
For your situation you need to use a USB hub. Powered preferably. We have a more updated video showing how to do this including links to what devices you will need and the process. it was posted after this video (called turn your firestick into a mega beast). Since amazon did an update after doing this video, you need the hub to use both ethernet and hard drive. That's why we did that video for you.
Hi I have a question for you how do I keep my Screensaver going because after about maybe 30 of my photos it shuts off is there a way to keep it going? Thanks 🙏 you’re Fan from Norfolk Massachusetts, and Stay Healthy and Safe to you and All Your Family and Fans
That is the old pro apk, you no longer need it. You can do everything now from the free built into the app store version. Just make sure to click the little "x" so you don't pay for premium and just use the free version
Yes, it's done once connected to your firestick. It will prompt you the first time you do it and you can do it right on your stick. If it doesn't, restart the device... still nothing? then it's not compatible with your device. Did you get the seagate slim?
Great video, clean and precise presentation and narration. One quick question though, The 2TB hard disk that you used in the video, is it FAT32 or NTFS formatted? Appreciate your help 👍

Love to hear that!
Awesome, very well done. The most that I love about your video, is how clean and clear you speak to transfer the information to us! thank you!
You explained the program better than most of the computer people from TH-cam thank you

You are very good at explaining in terms that the average person can understand. Thank you
I'm not much into saving stuff and fully understand what you said about external storage. I just want to be able to watch movies without buffering due to insufficient internal storage. Do you have a video on increasing internal storage?
I LOOKED FOR EVER FOR THE OTG ADAPTER THAT HAD 3 PLUGS AND THEN SCOLLED DOWN AND SEEN THE LINKS . THIS GUY IS AMAZING. 5 STARS
This is why I screen shot your info and save it. I learn so much and can’t thank you enough👍
I spend alot of time on TH-cam. You are the only one that makes sense. Calm and cool. Thank you brother.
As someone else mentioned you make a great presenter with clear instructions great work !
Thank you very much. I view your site each time I want to expand my system. You are a great teacher for someone at my level of stupid. You explain the programs better than everyone I watch. Thank you again.

Love your videos and tutorials, super knowledgeable and helpful....thank you for teaching us how to use these devices...this is priceless!!!!
Excellent How2s. Great Resource. Explanations are easy to follow and understand.
Thanks!
As always; flawless!!!! Thank you one more time!!!!
Thanks!! I got my firestick, OTG and Ext drive; and this info is just what I needed!!
Thank you.I ordered the OTG and can't wait to try this out.

Hey, Thanks for everything....!!!
Thanks for the compliments. Glad you got it working and got a nap in.
Best video I've ever seen on this information.. clear & to the point.. Love this channel I'll be back thanks alot
Made me laugh with the endless cords and cables there for a minute. But thanks for everything you do and I have been taking your advice for some time now.

That’s a great setup. Thinking of doing the same set up. Seems very straight forward. Love that I found your channel.
Thanks, installed mine just now, all working as intended.
Waiting for the next video on how to install the applications in a external drive rather then firestick 😉
Probably be a couple weeks
Sounds great, and just the sort of thing I need. But now I'm going to scan through your videos and see if you've done a similar thing, but hooking to a NAS instead - I've got one of those and if I can hook that in instead, I'll have even more storage and some protection for the data, too
What a great video . You always have the best insight.
For me this was the best video I have seen and appreciate your time making it for us
If I opt for a flash drive for now instead of the ext HD would you recommend 2.0 or 3.0? Does the fire stick support 3.0?
Wow is that an amazing video. So well explained. Much appreciated my friend. Cheers from Quebec
When will you do a video that explains moving apps to an external storage device and operating them from there? Your videos are just great, keep it up.
Soon
Very well presented . Thank you for sharing.

You’re always very informative. You’re my go to guru on TH-cam. Happy Holidays. Stay safe and be well.
That's great, because fire stick comes with 6gb I think after installing few apps, only 1 gb left...
Fantastic content by an awesome presenter. Very interesting and very helpful to me. Thankyou very much! 💗
Fire Tv Edition next please.
thank you for this information thank you so much it was very helpful
I so love your videos: so easy to follow. You must be some kind of a spokesperson 😊 ; as always great stuff
Just trying to help. Thanks for the support
I'm going to be doing this when I'm done with work. I'm going to redo my storage before I go to bed. I believe I have the materials like you do. We'll see!
I did my firestick with sandisk 2.0 32gb flashdrive
Thanks. I'm going to give ES Pro a try. I have used other methods to transfer files back and forth and the regular version of ES was not very effective. I'll see how this works for me.

Thank you for your video it was a great help keep safe

Yes, exactly the same. I've already put in a return for the OTG adaptors and reordered the cables. They'll be here in two days and I'll retry it.
Sorry, our experience was different. No problems at all. Did exactly what was shown on the video.
These OTG Adapters don't allow my ethernet to get through to the Firestick. I've tried all options. Rather keep my ethernet connection
Fabulous as usual. I will be purchasing the external drive. Already have OTG and Ethernet Adapter
Thank you...I following you everyday...keep up the good work!!!
Thanks. Have been waiting for your video on the upgraded ES File Explorer👍
Good video and information that actually works. Thank you.
Seriously great video, I have been wondering how to add external storage to the stick and move content, now I know. The ethernet idea appeals to me greatly so invested in one and a OTG cable. Be fun doing this and seeing if I can get it to work.
you know all the tricks! great video again.

I love that you make all this so easy
Just now checking you out-great video and audio explanation of Fire TV hook up. Will this description also work with the Cube? ..thanks
I have connected up as you say and yes the drive is seen but now it will only connect to the network via wireless not the ethernet Not sure why this is. Great video and well explained, Thank you.
We have an updated video on this subject. They changed it where you have to use a hub. I would suggest watching our newer videos
Thank you. Great video. Can you move apps with the same method?
Yes
Superb ideas mate, thank you
Excellent presentation, many thanks.
Subbed. Learning much.
Thanks for this information. I have OTG cable and might just play around with this.
Great video love to try this out. Thank you for the explanation and keep up the great content.

Thanks you for the info... greatly appreciated ☺
Thanks for the info

Unfortunately my Firestick 4K Max does not have a "Developer Options" under My Fire TV... What do I do ?
Did you click our channel name and look for the video titled “developer options missing”?
Your stick isn’t unlocked. Watch that video
Very informative. Will this allow me to download movies and shows to replay later when I don't have internet access. I'd like to record content and play back in my RV. Thanks.
Thank you it was very helpful.
Question, where is the video for playing Firestick apps from the external drive after moving them to drive?
Brilliant vid. 👍👍👍👍👍

That is the old pro apk, you no longer need it. You can do everything now from the free built into the app store version. Just make sure to click the little "x" so you don't pay for premium and just use the free version
ES Explorer version mentioned in the video is no longer available at the url. Can you suggest any alternative links?
The free version works fine
Do you have a video on how to format an external HD to Fat32? I have a seagate 2TB and want to connect it to my Fire Cube
Yes, it's done once connected to your firestick. It will prompt you the first time you do it and you can do it right on your stick. If it doesn't, restart the device... still nothing? then it's not compatible with your device. Did you get the seagate slim?
Great video, clean and precise presentation and narration.
One quick question though,
The 2TB hard disk that you used in the video, is it FAT32 or NTFS formatted? Appreciate your help 👍
Fat32. Yes there are limitations. Very much like the firestick itself.
@@CuriosityCafe Thank you so much for your quick reply. Appreciate it 👍😊
This is awesome! Thanks so much
Thankx again
You rock have a great time on vacation!
