Been watching your salsa vids, and literally just said today “where’s the pico recipe??” and watched yours from a year ago!! Excited to see the update 🙏🏻
I make my own salsa every week, I do my veggies when I grill out on Friday and use every pepper possible and alot of garlic, fresh and roasted. I am going to start adding cactus in my recipe, I really had no idea of all of the health benefits of it. I see it all of the time but have been intimidated by it, lol. Now I know a process to use for it, like okra! Thank you, Annie! I LOVE your videos and I am a mexican eating fool, could seriously eat Mexican everyday of the week and not get tired of it.
Arnie I can’t express how much I love your videos. You and Rick Bayless on TH-cam are so friggin’ awesome! I’m into weightlifting and need to eat a lot of meat. Mexican salsas and sauces are so good at making boring meat taste so good and never boring. Hope you and your family are well.
I have over 25 years working through resorts and kitchens. I love watching your videos and how you go through everything, I am really interested lately learning more Mexican foods and BBQ. With that said your channel has been a go to for me and I appreciate it. This salsa looked really great I'm going to give it a go!
I'm doing this! I've been on a fresh pico kick lately and I haven't had nopales since I was in Mexico over ten years ago(luckily, I CAN get them all the way up here in West Virginia). Thanks again for all you're wonderful videos, Arnie!
I love to make a version of this with a can or two of black beans tipped in and sprinkled with cayenne pepper. I usually cheat and use a jar of nopales, even though fresh is better. One of my favorite dishes.
I absolutely love Nopales! I clean/de-thorn it myself. I watched my Hispanic coworker do it for many years. Its way cheaper to buy it not cleaned where i am. Its such a healthy ingredient! Thanks for the recipe
The pico looks great. One of my fingers got smashed years ago, and the doctor removed the first knuckle and pinned it. So that finger is ½ inch shorter than it should be. I cut the tip off the glove occasionally, I've always seen it when it happens and take care of it.
My dad showed me this recipe a few years back. The only thing he does differently is slice the nopale in strips and adds a few of the pickled serranos with some of the juice. As tempting as it is to drink the juice, use it for a marinade. Did it with chicken over ash wood and it was some of the best chicken I've ever eaten.
I miss South Texas food, I was born and raised there! It is definitely different on the West Coast. I have not found a good Mexican restaurant anywhere and have lived in the west for 6 yrs. Im glad I found this channel!!! ❤
My pico de gallo is usually tomato, tomatillo, onion, garlic, cilantro, Serrano, and lime juice . I moved to Baja in January and have nopales but haven’t harvested any yet. I’ll try adding it to my pico!
This is super cool, I actually made a nopales salad the other day that was basically this with some chopped lettuce, steak and Mozzarella (but no garlic). I actually used the slime to make a dressing for the salad since it tastes a bit lemony.
I've been in south Texas for 6 years. I've been looking around for true Mexican food recipes and can't believe I'm just now coming across your channel. So those cactus pads I see growing all over the place are edible? Huh...never would've known that.
Yes you can eat them.Think they are from the prickly pear cactus. You can also buy at HEB Grocery store and Mexican grocery stores, prickly pear fruit. They are kind of shaped like a pear, hence the name of the cactus. They also make jellies, jams and candies from them. They are best when a deep reddish- purple color which means they are right Here we also have chilipitin.Sometimes called bird chili because they are small and grow wild.Tbey can be quite hot Found that out as a kid once No I,m not Hispanic, I,m Hungarian -german and enjoy a lot of different cuisine
@@hildahilpert5018 Ah, guten abend freund. Mother's maiden name is Herzig, always good to meet a fellow German. Sadly, that is about the extent of my Deutsch, lol. Still learning. German/Prussian.
Another great video as usual! I live way out here on the West Coast northern California. We have a great farmers market in our little town of roseville California and we are lucky enough to have all the great ingredients that you always use here. We are very lucky and it makes making your recipes very easy!
Love your videos. I grow here in Sacramento Ca zone 9. Always have great salsa ingredients for 9 months of the year. My only real struggle is with Cilantro trying to bolt so quickly. Really have to harvest cilantro fast.
I used to make a huge bowl of pico de gallo every Saturday for my drinking buddies. But I haven’t made any in a long time, maybe next time I’m in to visit I’ll try this recipe.
Mexican food is healthy cut out sour cream and cheese thats it or go easy on cheese and crema or substitute crema with plain greek yogurt blend it with cilantro, lime or lemon salt avocado
How long do you boil the nopales , Hey Texas home boy Iam 75 yrs,ate noplales all my years my mom was here,I have never cooked noplases ,mom An Dad would go to WAXACHIE TX,from Dallas, go to the woods to cut nopales,I was s little girl ,use to go house to house asking them if they wanted to buy noplase for a nickel a tin cup, while I would carry the tin cup to their house I would eat a little for me an a little for them, Lol, anyway thank you for the trip memory lane, I ate them raw, Think I will try to cook them, I live alone n Denver Colorado, now cuz of health issued to live close to my grandson, he cared for me better than any nurse's assistant could ever do,
The slime is a lot like the slime of okra. I think Mexican food is better for you, unless you are drinking the cheese dip. 😂😊. Love your recipes. Thanks
Many years ago my friends and I took a trip to the four Corners area and ate at a restaurant that had what they called Mexican coleslaw. Later I realized it was some kind of cabbage pico de giallo. I have been trying to recreate it ever since. Never could find a good recipe. Arnie or anyone else out there have good recipe? I live in the midwest and nobody seems to have a clue what I am talking about. 10:10
Would love to try some of these recipes, but I have that gene defect that makes cilantro taste like soap to me. Do I just leave it out or are there any substitutes I don't know about?

It is even good for your skin and hair in the same way that Aloe Vera is, but for me, I prefer to eat it.
Beautiful Arnie!🤠

I always use the stems of the cilantro too.
That's where all the flavor is!!
Keep up the good work!!
Ay... once again you've made me hungry. I called my daughter at the store to pick up the ingredients to make a big bowl tonight. 😋😋

It is lighter and more hmm "cosmopolitan," feeling on the west coast. Misses the comfort food element.
That’s funny because us California people say the same about the southwest Mexican food just isn’t the same. Too much Tex Mex
Nopales in pico are delish❤❤❤❤
Pico de Gallo is sooo delicious!! 🙂
I will die for this man.
My pico de gallo is usually tomato, tomatillo, onion, garlic, cilantro, Serrano, and lime juice . I moved to Baja in January and have nopales but haven’t harvested any yet. I’ll try adding it to my pico!
Wow!!! I've never thought about putting nopales in pico!

I made this dish, and I can say it was 🔥 🔥 highly recommended

Try looking up "cortido".
Beautiful
Yes I use the cactus from the jar
Damm that is a sharp knife :)
I'd put that in a burrito!
Inspiring!
Do you have an empanada recipe? Love your vids
I've had nopales before!
Maestro how you make your chips? Im happy to know how. Thank you in advance
Uncle Arnie!! Where did you get the Cilantro container?
🤝
I have never eaten Mexican food. I would like to but I'm broke
If you’ve got access to a kitchen, Mexican food can be really affordable.
I hope things turn around for you soon.
@@markswayne6326 thank you
Your humor reminds me of cheech Marin. Good old Cheech and Chong fun.
Do you HAVE to cook them? I know with Okra, if you slice thin and sun dry for a bit, it greatly reduces the slime (cooked and fresh).
Cool video
🎉🎉🎉🎉
😃😉🙃🙂🤗
I'm guessing there will be some juice left after consuming. What could I do with this?
Hey, thx for posting! I want to try this...Can u spell out the type of Mexican cheese? Thx! I'm a gringo
Ain't no wrong way ain't no right wat,,,theirs only the Arnie way....
