    Thank you for sharing!! The copper fitting can be removed from the old water and placed on the new assembly should it come without one. This is the only procedure that was not in the video. Repair time 25-30 minutes.

      I also did not get the copper fitting on my new one; but I wasn't sure how to remove the old. Instead, I used one of those little round quick connect things from my old part to splice together my old line (With fitting) to my new one. It seems to be working fine, I don't see any leaks. I may try to get the fitting off the old one or buy a new one at some point.

      @@MillerTime821 if you still have that part lying around you just unscrew the one end and then pull out the plug then stick it back in the new hose making sure you slide the nut part first

      Mine didn't come it one either, but it was fairly simple to remove the old fitting and use it on the new line. You need two wrenches to break the nut though.

    I can't thank you enough for putting out all your videos. I have a Samsung french door that won't regulate the temp in the fridge, but the freezer works fine. Your vids are allowing me to work on my fridge with confidence. If I get there, I will need to order a water filter assembly and maybe a thermistor.

    Great instructions. Bought part through Parts Dr as well. Price was lower than other places I looked. There were a couple of minor differences between my refrigerator and the one shown in the video. I couldn't release the gray water line (which goes to the ice maker) by pushing in the collar while pulling line out. I removed the plastic plate, cut off the gray line and pushed it through the plate. Like some others, I had to remove the brass fitting from the inlet water line hookup and re-use it on the new part. Also, removal of the old housing was slightly different. there was no locking device to be pushed down, instead, there was a screw holding the housing to the back of the refrigerator. Regarding the price, the new housing seems expensive (about $170 when I bought it), but it came with an original Samsung filter which sells for $50 at Lowe's.

    This video was super helpful. It took me about 45 minutes to replace mine. That solved the issue of the water not flowing unless the filter was removed. Mine went exactly how this video showed except I couldn't get the ice maker line to release using a screw driver like he showed. So, I needed to remove the plastic housing it wen into, cut the hose, and pull it through. I saw another video where this was the prescribed method. Mine didn't come with a part at the end to screw into the water line coming from the wall, but I removed that compression fitting from the old line and installed it on the new one.

      What are Companies supposed to work for you for free?? They have Employees, Insurance, Vehicles, Maintenance, rent etc, etc to pay for. It's great that you fixed it but at the same time don't knock Companies for charging a fee for supplying a part and installing it for you if you couldn't. That is how 90% of the work force works man. $450 sounds reasonable to me for someone to come and do that job if you couldn't do it yourself.

My only complaint is the current version of the unit for my samsung fridge did not inlude the two LED lights. I had to take apart the old and new unit to switch them over. Hell yeah now that’s what I’m talking about! Very nice, detailed and straight to the point. Clear instructions. This is how all instructional videos should be. I have a question. So water is not coming out at all for me anymore. It happened after I had to turn the power off from the breaker box for a minute. It was working fine before then. I ran trimmer lining up the water dispenser hole but there was no blockage.
    Also took the out the blue hose as well but it was not frozen. Took the filter out and tried it. No water still. According to what I’ve seen on google, the water inlet valve could have possibly gone bad. Aside from the inlet valve, Could this particular part on this video also have something to do with this issue I’m having?
    Mode number I have is Rf28hfedtsr/aa

    • @PartsDr
      @PartsDr  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Although you can test the resistance of the solenoids on the water valve, we have found that this test is not accurate as the solenoid can show a good resistance value but it can not function because it could be physically stuck. There is no simple way that we have found to test this part in a Samsung refrigerator. Here is a video that we made showing how to test a dishwasher water valve that you might find helpful: th-cam.com/video/vrDSl24vwao/w-d-xo.html

    Your demo is excellent. Why would I have to replace the filter assembly? My water was coming out slowly in my dispenser until it finally stopped. Is it the assembly or is it the dispenser switch?

    • @PartsDr
      @PartsDr  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Terry, troubleshooting this type of problem can be tricky. Usually the dispenser switch is either good or bad. If the water flow got slower and slower until it finally stopped working that sounds more like a problem with the water valve inside the filter case assembly. It can also be caused by a frozen water line, poor water supply to the refrigerator, or the main control board not sender power to the water valve. You will need to do some investigating and testing to narrow down the problem. This video shows more details about the filter case assembly: th-cam.com/video/H7-c-GSVizg/w-d-xo.html

    • @ericship
      @ericship 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is the exact problem I had. Replacing this part fixed it. My understanding is the valve that gets opened from inserting the water filter goes bad over time and doesn't fully open until it stops opening at all. My water flow slowed to a ridiculous speed until it finally stopped. This part is around $200, but worth it to have filtered water again.

    @tangohotel8284 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks. With strong water to the dispenser but none going to the ice maker on RF28JBEDBSG?AA 4 door model, I'm not exactly sure where the problem lies. Is there a flowchart to diagnose whether the problem is the valve or the ice maker itself? I just don't want to throw random parts on in an arbitrary fashion hoping to fix the problem. Below you stated in a reply "If there is no water to the ice maker, you could have a bad water valve, ice maker, or main control board. All three of these parts work together to make ice. Any one of these components failing could cause the ice maker to not fill with water." How do you test to isolate/pinpoint the problem within those three components?

    My experience: The screw that secures the case assembly against the back wall of the fridge was something I didn't know about when I had been messing with the assembly previously, so the tab was broken off. When I tried to pull out the grey plastic water line from its "quick release" by using the method shown in this video, it would only come out a little at a time until about the final 10". It was a struggle. There was about a 1/2" discrepancy from where the grey and blue plastic lines on the replacement assembly had their black marks compared to the original. There was no brass fitting included on the white plastic tubing for the water supply connection, which required a trip to the hardware store. Note that a small, trumpet horn shaped reinforcement piece goes inside the tubing to prevent the tubing from being crushed under compression. There is a small 3-wire electrical connector that was very difficult to remove, which required a VERY small metal blade to be inserted to depress the locking tab to release. Other than that, it went OK. This video was helpful.
    Also of note was a small area of rust on the outside of the fridge's back panel. This is near the top and seems to be caused by condensation from a lack of adequate insulation inside the refrigerator in that spot location.

    HI parts Dr. thanks for the video.
    I have the following problem maybe you have an idea what it is.
    I get water from the water dispenser, but my ice maker doesn't produce ice.
    the ice maker cools that I have already determined. I also pressed the reset button but the ice maker makes no movement, nothing.
    I disassembled the entire ice maker and checked it if I could. There is no water in the ice maker. I already checked the water inlet valve, both valves are 383 ohms.
    do you have an idea what i can still check? Thks mike

    • @PartsDr
      @PartsDr  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The water valve can still be bad even if it ohms out okay. It can have an internal blockage or failure that causes water not to flow past it. Most commonly we see this type of problem caused by a failed ice maker, but it could also be a bad water valve, bad main control board, or a frozen water line.

      Yes it can be a bad water filter head causing your problem. First, always check that the water supply to the refrigerator is good. You can try if you can find a line with the same specifications as the original. The problem is that some of these use special fittings where the water lines attach to the water valve and they are not able to easily be removed and replaced. The filter case assembly has a water tank/reservoir inside that stores the cold water. It does NOT cool down the water, the water is cooled from being in the cold air of the refrigerator. The water tank is not large, so make sure to allow sufficient time after running the dispenser for the next batch of water to be cooled down.
