We are Brian & Jessica, a married couple who started on a life-changing whole food, plant-based journey back in June 2018. In June 2022, our lives were flipped upside-down when Jessica was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer at age 36. Since then we welcomed our very first child via gestational carrier and bought a new house! In May 2024, our lives took another major turn when Brian was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma at age 41.

I’m so glad you are posting these videos now. That seems so long ago.
Right?! When we went through the footage it was almost like watching somebody else. 😀
@ …but you’re still the great couple I remember back then!
Yum!!!!!! I’m going to bring this to my neighborhood happy hour!!! One of my favorite videos you guys ever did was the big salad prep! I still watch it every now and then. Great video!!!❤
Isn't it amazing to look back and see how life was different.
Both my hubbie and I have cancer now, our daughter passed away 4 mo. ago, my health has taken a turn with heart problems also. Life is challenging but God is in charge.
Your Elsie is so adorable, you both are blessed with such love for each other and one day at a time we can do it.❤❤❤❤
Omg. I didn't realize how much I missed the old Brian and Jessica. Your spirits were definitely lighter. Must try that recipe. So glad you are posting these. Hope watching yourselves helps to bring back some of that joy in your lives. ❤❤
So good to see you guys posts of recipes...this looks yummy 😋
Glad to see recipes again, glad to see you
I agree. You guys had a great banter. I know why you have not been "bantering" so much lately, but I am glad to see it!!
More recipes please! So glad your getting back to it!
I love the recipes you’ve created that I’ve tried so far, welcome back.
I love that you are releasing these. You guys make great food videos!
You two are amazing! I'm 73 and have followed you for a long time..... You both are delightful and inspiring!
Oh, you guys, this was soooooo nice!!!! Loved the "archive"!
I am SO excited to see you doing more recipes!!! What could get better - You both are healing, you are working on your home, you have your daughter and now you are releasing videos... LOVE IT!
Back to WFPB recipes, yeah!!!
SO great to see you two back to normal life. An episode in life completed.
Love seeing this old video. Love the banter and fun loving between you two. I clean my house with that vinegar, so I thought that was funny!
Yes, archival footage! I'm totally making this for tomorrow. I missed your banter while you guys cook! I am excited to see what the celery adds.
Glad to see you back. This is what you both needed for your own lives. Helping others with what you love and started out as. 😊
Brian, you are a great creative chef! I'm so glad for this recipe, and the timing is uncanny! It was on my list to make hummus today! Yay! I've missed Peef, too!
Thanks for the memories and the good laugh!
I never saw any of your cooking videos. This was great! 😋
This is the inspiration I've been looking for! I love hummus and vinegar and spices! I like to use hummus as a salad dressing or a sauce for roasted vegetables. Trying this asap!
Thanks for the recipe. I love hummus and love Buffalo anything. The celery is actually an ingredient when making Buffalo Chicken Dip.
Please more recipes whenever you have time.Remembering loving your cooking :)
Hope you have a lemon tree at your new home!
What a fun video! The whole vinegar thing really cracked me up. I started following you right after Jessica's diagnosis so I didn't really know you two when you were making recipe videos. I'm definitely going to make this recipe. It sounds awesome. Looking forward to seeing more of your earlier stuff and hopefully some new stuff as well.
I'm a hummus fan. Great as a dip, dressing, or sandwich/wrap spread. Quick and easy recipes are perfect. I'm so glad to see a recipe video back. Keep them coming! ❤😊
So happy to see you guys!
I use humus to thicken up a stew/ soup. Cooking beans from dry makes them very cheap - one pound makes about 6 cans' worth- so its affordable to buy organic/ non- gmo. It means less carrying and can- trash, too. Having a batch encourages working them into meals. (They fridge/freeze well).
I’ve missed you guys! Loved watching this video.
Great video🎉🎉🎉wonderful! God Bless you! You have been through so much and the next phase of your adventure will be the best ever.❤❤❤
Oh ! I’d forgotten what Jessica’s hair looked like before! Cute both ways 😊 The Buffalo hummus sounds amazing! 😋
You two are miracles! Fun video and lovely recipe. God bless you and your little family. ❣️
Thanks for the blessings, we appreciate it! 🙏
Awesome video - I sure laughed while watching you make the hummus! 😂 Can’t wait to make it!
OMGosh! You're back! Just in time for me as I get back at it. I need the help and motivation. Please keep the videos coming!! Cheers! ~M
Good evening. Perfect timing with Super Bowl 🏈 Looks great!
Missed that music sooo much!! Will deffo try this recipe! 💚
Guys, this looks so good. I'll try it soon. Thanks.
I had forgotten about Peef! Glad to see him (?) again.
Peef is almost always in their videos, he's frequently hiding somewhere like behind a cabinet, on top of the fridge, or in the fruit bowl.
I loved when Jessica said the vinegar to clear your floors with - because that's exactly what I used white vinegar for.😁
Thank you for this recipe!
The vaults are open!!!!
Yay, keep em coming! I'm gonna make this!
I’ll be making this for sure.😊
Thanks for sharing recipe I am making for Supper Bowl party!
Sigh, this was indeed nostalgic. Loved it! Hope there is more to come and it inspires you too.
oh, I will totally be trying this out for Sunday!!!! Thank you for sharing!!
We hope you love it! 😊
Ahh yes, just in time for the Superb Owl. Happy Superb Owl Sunday everyone! 🦉
What do you two, vegan chef/TH-camr Derek Sarno, and I all have in common? We like to keep our kitchen clean as we proceed along with our cooking. 😃 Your buffalo hummus recipe looks super delicious! Thanks to the both of you for taking us down memory lane, also. This was such a fun video. Great to see Krocks in the Kitchen back in the kitchen, as well! 😄
Love seeing a recipe video! Keep them coming ❤
Well: 1. I didn't know the Superbowl was this weekend. and 2. I had no idea that hummus could be frozen! Great info because I make a lot of hummus too and usually end up making too much. The recipe looks fantastic ... and it was fun to join you in the "Way Back" machine.
Agreed! I usually “over-serve” myself which my … let’s say system … does not appreciate. Making one can of this tomorrow and immediately freezing half.
Such a great recipe. I love spicy hummus and this one looks amazing. 💛
Loved the video!!! So glad you're back!!!!😊
Thanks so much! We're glad to be back too! 😄
Greetings from Finland! Nice to see you being more active on TH-cam and doing well! A very random question I have wanted to ask a couple of years, basically ever since I started to follow your content: have you ever listed to the album "Illinois" from the artist Sufjan Stevens? It is a theme album with songs about places and historical moments related to the Illinois state. The music is incredibly beautiful, starting from the first song all the way to the end of the album. The style is indie, but Sufjan is a multi-instrumentalist and many of the songs have orchestra arrangements. If you listed to it, would be nice to hear what you though! It is my favourite album, but I have never heard anyone at Illinois (if you still live there) listening to it 😊 Thanks for making such great wfpb content!
Thank you so much for the video ❤
Fun,fun, fun,!!! Cute couple, delicious hummus, & awesome nail design Jessica💅🏽😍!
I just love 🥰 you both! That is a fabulous recipe, it came out perfect! Thank you 🙏🏻 and God bless ❤
Omg please kick off a week blog again it’s great to see yall I love you guys ❤❤
Great video
Can’t wait to try this, but I will probably add a bit of olive oil in exchange for some of the aqua fava.
Aaaaargh! You guys STILL don’t have an electric can opener?! I got one for my 60th birthday and can’t believe I lived so long without one. I think I’ve already bugged you about this, so sorry, but PLEASE put one on your Christmas or birthday lists this year! Just for me lol!
🤣🤣🤣 We cut out a bit of the video where we talked about our can opener and how we use my parent's electric can opener now. But Jessica was like, "Nobody is going to remember that we didn't have an electric can opener." 😂😂😂
@ I am “elephant old” ;)
Great recipe!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
So happy to see this video and a younger Peef looking very cute in his jeans and hoodie! Great recipe!!
Yep, he was looking pretty stylish! 😀
Looks great!
No need to add more salt when you add miso and celery…
Good evening 😊
Good evening to you too! 🙂
I see prefer now in the oldie
I love yall
I see what you did there! Same shirts as the original videos!
Yum
We hope you like it! 😀
❤
This was a fun video. Like the bit of dancing and was Brian dancing with a dish towel?
And guessing that was filmed in your mum and dad's kitchen Brian. Could be wrong
These videos were filmed in an Airbnb in Rochester Mn. a few months before Jessica was diagnosed. Little did we know that we would end up driving to Rochester many many times over the following years. We still think very fondly of that Airbnb, but it also has some very sad memories now.
@KrocksInTheKitchen ❤️
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊
I was going to ask you what happened to all the videos that you made at the Airbnb right before Jessica's diagnosis
Suggestion: When Elsie starts asking why you eat a whole food plant based diet, just tell her you eat WFPB because you believe it is a healthy choice for your family and that it does not harm birds, animals and fishies. If she asks why other people don't eat WFPB, just let her know that most people choose to eat culturally; Italian, Chinese, African, Mexican etc. and some people eat what is most convenient or what is available to them.
Floor cleaner! 😂😂😂
I know things r busy and u just forget but where is peef😊❤
Have you noticed that so many soup/sauce bases have celery in them? It seems to just add that something.
Would it be possible to sub apple cider vinegar for the white vinegar?
Sure, why not? 😀Let me know how it turns out.
You guys are sooooo cute;)))
I wonder if this would work without tahini?
Whole Foods 365 makes a delicious Jalapeno Hummus but uses tahini and oil. Haven't been able to copycat it without, unfortunately. Would you be able to copycat it as you are amazing!!??
Many thanks!!
It will taste pretty much the same, it just won't be as creamy. But give it a shot and tell me how it turned out. 🙂
Ps. You could always throw in some sesame seeds and blend them up instead of using tahini.
@@KrocksInTheKitchen You are the best!!! Thank you and will give it a try!
🌝
Please I need protein from plants I eat clean plant based. But need more protein can you help me?
Then this is a recipe for you. 😀Chickpeas have 19g of protein per 100g. And this is a super tasty snack.
I knew you'd like this video. 😁
Just film some vids and we will catch up automatically
☆♧
You left off the paprika and cayenne from your written recipe.
I see it on there - it lists:
- 2 Tbsp paprika (we do NOT recommend smoked paprika for this recipe)
- 1/2 Tbsp cayenne pepper (this will be SPICY; adjust for your taste)
Yum
❤
