Developed for iPhone and iPod Touch devices in 2009, Resident Evil 4: Mobile Edition was a highly condensed version of the GameCube release from 2005. While the overall plot and level design remained similar, a lot of the game was removed either replaced with text describing the situation or just glossed over altogether. As a result, the mobile edition of the game sits at around 3 hours of gameplay versus the consoles estimated 10 hours, quite a large difference in comparison.
Alongside the iOS version, a port of this condensed version of the game was also released on the Brazilian "Zeebo" console as well on Android exclusively for Japanese Samsung devices. However, due to the exclusivity of the android version, it is not easy to get a working copy of the game today.

Honestly with how powerful today's mobile devices are i think Capcom can port this game to Android and iOS devices very easily.
They can easily port the Original RE4 into the mobiles. But now they're focusing on it's remake.
yeah because the original resident evil 4 on PS2 version run smooth with my android device when using a emulator.

In my android device, The GameCube Version (Original) ran 50-70% smooth. So PS2 version should not be the problem. Because it misses some assets.
It was decided back then (2005) that RE4 was going to be a GameCube Exclusive. But not until PS2 release.

I love how the game gives you three whole minutes to run back to the lift after the last boss. You don't even have to escape on the jet ski, you're just given three whole minutes to walk fifteen feet or so.

This port is reeeeally weird for a lot of reasons, but despite of your oddity, it's not BAD at all. The effort to port a sixty generation game for a mobile device in 2009 (2007, if count the very first mobile edition launched) is remarkable. Almost everything is there, gameplay, variety of guns, some songs, stages, bosses (exception to Bitores, unfortunately he was cut off from the game)...EVERYTHING...Or a great part, at least! Capcom did a MIRACLE!
Is kinda like resident evil 2 on the n64. Only the developers know how they managed to fit a two disc ps1 game into a 64mb cart

Google Play Store never had that game. It was released on galaxy store. Yes, this game was only available for samsung devices.
It‘s impressive that they‘ve managed to port such a big game to such old phones with technical limits. I guess this was the longest game back then.
Now imagine this on the most recent phones. Pretty sure that they‘ll perform even better like on the PS2 or the Gamecube version.

Hey, great gameplay of Resident Evil 4 mobile edition! While I love the remake, I also have a soft spot for the original RE4. In fact, I just started a series playing the original RE4 on my phone, and it's been a thrilling experience. It's amazing how the game still holds up after all these years

Its amazing how accurate they tried to be on this version, almost everything is there. I remember playing this 13 years ago on my iPod touch 3. I never reached the end of the game.

When the mobile version of the game has U3 but the 2023 Remake doesn't LMAO. This is honestly downright IMPRESSIVE for a mobile game. I mean, it's actually uncanny. If this was a standalone RE title they could have actually made a solid original Resident Evil game here.

Probe este juego hace años, y a pesar de estar limitado graficamente, y tener unos controles bastante toscos, debo decir que es entretenido jugarlo, sirve para esa tarde cuando no tienes internet, cuando vas de viaje, o solo quieres disfrutar un rato sin que tu cerebro explote por tantas cosas que hacer y mejorar.. un juego bastante simple pero cumplidor.

friendly reminder that this game is just a retooling of the Zeebo version. other than the intro cutscene and the original music / sound effects both versions are nearly identical.
That might explain the visuals being a bit lower than other 3D mobile games at the time.
After mastering code, I will create a remastered version of this for Android

Heh! The nostagia brings me back since i was in 7th grade and i did fact make a walkthrough gameplay about this although i didn't continuing it playing until now.

I played this version back in 2012 on Android tablet.
On android you can use the dolphin emulator to play the wii or gamecube version of the game with the original console quality graphics

Sadly I used to own this and DMC 4’s mobile port back in the day and a friend of mine had the Dead Rising mobile port. At least we didn’t buy them for full price still wasn’t worth it tho.

Nessa época era compreensível o jogo ser limitado, até por que em 2009 os celulares ainda eram limitados e jogos não eram o propósito. Do you have the link of this version that was updated for latest Android? I downloaded a version 2.0 from several apk sites but they got it all wrong. I can't even play both 1.01.01 or 1.0.0 versions since they only support older android versions.
Sadly not, I wanted to play this on android originally but I couldn’t find a working version so I resorted to the iOS port instead 🙁

I kind of wished they decided to revamp this version by making it so it’s the full 2005 version and port it to the iPhone with A12 Bionic (minimum) or above can play it.
That way the remake and this version is available.
