Nice adventure in the Nature Reserve. You got to see animals which makes the trip enjoyable. Great cabins there allow you to enjoy the Reserve and stay with a peace of mind.
Thank you, It was really cool to spot some of the animals in this reserve. Especially the zebra and wildebeest. Very cool to see them in their natural environment.
I absolutely loved this video.... exceeded my expectations just like the nature reserve! Literally wish i was back there again 😍😍😍 i love how you edited this☺️
It was truly interesting to do this hike with you and Di on thatcside of the Suikerbosrand. 30 years ago when Di was a real 'lightie', we used to slipstream camp on the other side of the reserve in a place called Karee Kloof. Great family holidays but no real hiking. I loved the South Africa top that Di was wearing....😊 At least I know of whom she was thinking. The two of you had just completed John O'Groats to Lands End when she then travelled all the way back to Birmingham to visit and support me at the Commonwealth Games. This may have been why I returned with a Bronze Medal. Her support was invaluable. Thanks for sharing your different 24 hour hike.
I really enjoyed this two day hike with you and Di. Is this landscape called a savannah? Very nice huts on this trail. Looks like springs are your source for water. Were there any lions in the area? Those lions gave me nightmares as a kid. I'd dream a female lion would be prowling around the house and come into my bedroom. We have those same millipedes and sticky balls here in the US.
I believe the nature reserve is a grassland biome, not quite a savanna. Luckily we handed over some water bottles to the office at the beginning and they were kind enough to drop them off at the hut for us. There were no lions or any dangerous animals in this reserve (thankfully) and was safe to walk around without a ranger. Glad you enjoyed, it was a very peaceful 2 days of hiking and exploring 😊
We call those millipedes ' shongololos' as standard. I think it's a Zulu or native word but I learnt shongololo about 20 years before millipede😂 I know Johannesburg to be called the high veld which is different from Kruger which is low veld (field). Probably grassland like Ryan said describes it best!
Beautiful place. Fantastic video. Thanks for sharing. 👍19
Woow great I enjoyed your trail with you both..such freedom. SA is the best ....
