The more I follow your vlogs, the more I am in awe of the world from a different perspective.
Thankfully you did not suffer from any bad effects of the ticks.
This walk truly kept up your fitness levels and your awareness of how to survive a fantastic life with no material assets to worry about.

I am absolutely in awe of this challenge that was taken on by you and Di. You seem to have so much confidebce in each others ability. Yours to lead and Di's to keep you interestingly nourished.
You sure have so many interesting experiences on all your hikes. I am not sure why I missed this one, but I love seeing the UK this way with your daily vlogs.
Ah man that's great motivation, I've been wanting to do this for a while. Not sure which way to do it though as I live in Reading so not sure if finishing at home is better or somewhere different with a nice train journey home after? 😀
@@dodgy_paintings Glad you enjoyed, I loved this canal hike. It was a lot of fun. I would definitely recommend hiking home, I’ve done a few hikes where I’ve finished at home and to me it’s always a nice feeling hiking towards my home. But either way it’s a beautiful canal to explore.
Insects sounded like rain....but the stars were out😂😂😂😂😂😂
And I missed seeing this day until now. 😮
It was a very random day of hiking 😊 it was cool to get interviewed
At least the trains work and basically run on time.....
Oooh cats, my favorite animal ever, I've wanted to go to Israel for years because of all the stray cats but I'd end up trying to save them all, I'd get upset because they've not got homes and I'd try to rescue them all xx
Yeah, a lot of stray cats in Israel. But they all seem happy enough. A lot of people would leave bread out for them. And the weather is warm for them. The Israel Trail was an incredible hike 😊
What part of March did you start? Would you recommend starting in late Feb?
We started the trail on March 18th and I was very hot towards the end of the trail. I would say mid to late February is a perfect time to start the Israel trail going from south to north.
" we are in our favourite place, a church, looking for a water tap.......here it is!"😂😂😂😂
😂😂
Sooo funny watching this where we slept in a normal park! I want that adventure again! 😅 We sat in a bus stop that stank of wee for an hour to get some shade😂😂😂
Some funny memories 😊
You should do the jurassic coast trail, lots of beaches to see, you can see dinosaur footprints and can find fossils and dinosaur bones too, it's like 90 miles long, maybe it can be one of your next adventures xx
I love the Jurassic coast, I did the whole south west coast path a few years ago and went fossil hunting as we passed through 😊 I’m thinking I might do the South west coast path again this summer and start in Poole, and vlog it this time. I’ll let you know, I could pop in to see you in Bournemouth before I start.
@RyansNextAdventure You should definitely do it again and record it, that would be so interesting, your subscribers would really enjoy it, you're welcome here anytime, I'd love to see you before your hike, I'm just watching more of your adventures before I do the goats, I've seen quite a few now, just been watching the advert Calender Challenge and it looked tough but a nice Christmas Dinner at the end lol xx
OMG you've been to some lush places, I'm going to watch some of your adventures as not seen all these, I've only seen the very early ones, I've just subscribed, Happy Birthday have a lovely day, Nicky
@@Littleseagullbaby Thank you, the Otter Trail was really cool. I love coastal hiking and watching the sea. It’s freezing here in Wales and lots of snow at the moment. Get cosy and enjoy the adventure 😊x
@RyansNextAdventure We never get snow here in Bournemouth just rain lol, been busy doing goats but off home soon to get cosy and watch your adventures xx
did you get many tic issues?
There were some patches of tick areas on stage 1, i found a couple of ticks on me on a few occasions on stage 1, but they were concentrated to a handful of areas along the trail. I’m always paranoid about ticks and check myself constantly on trail. (I even got the trail name “Ticks” because of it 😂) Once I got into the Alps on stage 2 I didn’t see a tick for the rest of the trail all the way to the Atlantic Ocean. To sum up, ticks on stage 1 and the rest of the trail is fine.
Thanks for replying. Are they easy to find on you? Can you feel them biting and then know where they are? I’m a kiwi and never have tics here in nz. Wonder if I can put some sort of repellent on during that stage?
@@simonhantler8062 sometimes you can feel them crawling up your legs if it’s a adult one, when they bite you can feel a bit of an itch for a few minutes then you can’t feel them. Some people use repellent but I never have. A general rule is do a good tick check at the end of each day in your tent, I just use my phone torch and check myself the best I can. They are pretty easy to see, I use a good pair of tweezers to pick them off. Overall ticks on the trail aren’t too bad. If you brush through long grass then just be aware to check, a few times when going through grass I would stop every few minutes and I would see 1 crawling up my legs and I would flick it off. But it was only a few days of tick areas on stage 1. Ticks are the 1 thing I hate about hiking but I was surprised at how little I saw them in France. And after stage 1 there aren’t any. Hope this helps, I hope to go to NZ at some point for the Te Araroa. It looks amazing.
Cheers. Little bastards. Yeah the TA in nz here is great. I did the sth island part a couple years ago. Not easy but well trodden and amazing nature. I tented 90% of it as I’m not big on crowded huts. I’m thinking about hexa next nz winter. Start mid may, to early?
Mid May might be a little early, if you plan to hike slower and take your time a bit you will probably be ok. It all depends on the snow in the Alps and how much has fallen through the winter, I started on 22nd of June and still encountered some snowy patches along the trail in the Alps. A lot of Hexatrekers plan to bring micro spikes with them and just hike across the snow. I would say the beginning of June is a good time to start and if it looks like the snow is persisting in the Alps then slow down a bit. I joined the Hexatrek discord group and they have regular updates about snow and trail conditions as you hike along.
Excellent series of videos. I enjoyed following your progress along the trail. The Hexatrek looks like a great way to spend 4-5 months, and I'm considering doing this sometime in the future, if the opportunity arises. Was there any specific reason(s) why you chose to go North/East to South/West, rather than the other way around?
Glad you enjoyed my Hexatrek adventure, it was an incredible 4 month journey through France. The main reason to do it North to South is the easier start. Stage 1 was by far the flattest (although there was still a lot of elevation) it eases you into the hike so you have a chance for your body to get ready for the Alps. Hiking South to North you head straight into the Pyrenees and will be doing 1000+ metre climbs in the first week, so will need good fittest from the start.
Also finishing at the Atlantic Ocean was a very cool way to finish this hike, going South to North the finish will be very underwhelming as it’s just a point on the France/German border a few miles out of town.
@@RyansNextAdventure Thank you, makes sense. I can definitely see the appeal of finishing on the Atlantic coast, rather than just a road next to farmland 😂

hello nice trail how is it with wild camping in the desert?its possible?
Camping is ok in the Negev Desert. But because the whole of it is a nature reserve you are only allowed to camp in the designated camping areas. These areas are ok with most having a water tap and some have compost toilets. We were following “the red book” which is an excellent guide book to the Israel Trail. It has maps of the trail and shows you exactly where the campgrounds are in the desert. All these camp grounds are free and no need to arrange beforehand. They are just areas you’re allowed to pitch a tent and there are quite a few of them along the trail so you have a bit of a choice on which ones to stay at depending on how many miles you want to hike each day. Hope this helps
@@RyansNextAdventure yes thank you it help a lot 👍

Ohhhhhh!!!!!😍😍
what time of the year did yall hike the otter?
We hiked it at the end of May this year.
Congratulations. Very inspiring adventure! Thank you for bringing us along.
@@SL3315 It was an incredible adventure 😊 glad you enjoyed and thanks for watching 👍🏼
I always budget for £40 a day (just in case) but I always spend less up to about £30 a day, so your daily amount was very good. I loved your comment about socks, lots of socks, all I could think of at that point was Blackadder.
I just love your happy face and smiling eyes. Such a Nature Boy. What a way to see the world.

It is an epic adventure. Good to hear you’re planning to do the Jogle and enjoying my videos 😊 Happy to answer any questions you have about the hike.
@@RyansNextAdventure thankyou x you may regret that ha ha its my first hike and feeling abit overwhelmed tbh but your videos tellimg everyone where your going, towns and villages etc has been a great help also about the key on the great glen way for the loos etc for £10! Never knew that so brilliant thankyou xx
@@margesgastricbypassjourneyuk 😂 no problem, happy to help. We found out about that key on route which was great. It’s normal to feel nervous or overwhelmed about a hike, that means it is a proper adventure. You have a lot of time to research and plan.
Geeze that's a tight squeeze😳😳glad you made it through!!!!
It was such a tight squeeze especially with the backpack. I couldn’t believe it was the trail and I wasn’t expecting it. It was a lot of fun though 😊
You Embraced the unexpected👍👍
Loved every video and it was awesome seeing how much you guys enjoyed it! Btw- the official end is an extra 3.5km from the beach, through the indigenous forest, to the sanparks office. You’ll actually pass the first hut of the Tsitsikamma trail (which forms a circle with Otter trail but goes inland through the mountains - combine them for an incredible 11 day adventure!). It’s your also last chance to see some buck as well as knysna loeries/turacos. You also get an Otter trail certificate when you check out at the office! It’s also a bit of tradition to go straight to the local pub afterwards and get a celebratory Otter’s asshole shooter 😅 Well done guys!
Glad you enjoyed the videos, we really enjoyed making them. After heading to the pub for drinks and food we headed to the otter trail office to complete the trail properly. We then picked up some supplies and hiked the Tsitsikamma trail straight after the otter trail. We just didn’t vlog that trail. It was also a beautiful trail and we really enjoyed hiking through the Tsitsikamma mountains. It took us 5 days so it was 10 days of hiking in total 😊
Did they still have those canvas tents around the hut areas? (They put them up as part of Covid precautions in 2020 and they were still there in 2022)
Yeah they were all still there. Some off them weren’t in great condition with the weather taking there toll on them. We actually slept in one of the canxas tents at the last camp. It was a cool experience, we could see the waves from our tent in the morning.
MAJESTIC SIGHT AND SOUND ❤
c'est vrai qu'on peut voir le seigneur des anneaux comme un film de randonné en montagne xD
Dramatic music helps getting the feeling across😍
Hey Ryan, what was the distance and time of your run?
This ended up being 13.2 miles with just over 1600m of elevation gain. It took me 3 hours 26 minutes. The climb was brutal with a lot of it over 20% gradient. But the views at the top are always worth it 😊
Awwww, sooo cute with your reflections... When it rains...get the camera out and film🎉
It was a fun little walk in the rain 😊
Stunning!!!

Ryan, do you live in South Africa?
@@albert2395 No, but my girlfriend has family there. I went out there for 3 months and did some hiking and exploring
@RyansNextAdventure Hi Ryan! Thanks for the prompt reply! I think climate wise, I would probably like South Africa. I went to Goa in 1995 but found it too hot and humid. It was my first flight too!
@@albert2395 It’s a great place to go to escape the UK winter. Can get quite hot though in the summer. We were by the coast in Plettenburg Bay for a month and it was much cooler there, still hot but not too hot.
Whew. You are having a wonderful understanding of a different life.
Wow, Mount Blanc Awesome 🤩
Mont Blanc looks massive in person. It stands at 4809m. Maybe I’ll climb it one day when I have the equipment and skills required to summit it. But for now I’ll stick with the 3000m mountains 😊
Beautiful view, where is it ?
