Marcus Bridge was B until Alien - he’s straight S now. What the screams might lack in dynamics they make up for in emotion - it sounds less like he’s filling a part for a metalcore band and more like he’s genuinely yelling at you. He’s got some decent lows as well, particularly live. And his singing? The best in the scene, no question.

I wouldn't even say their sound is my particular taste anymore but I live right near their hometown and have gone to a lot of their concerts, and I've heard a lot of both live and studio metal vocalists at this point and Jake is defintely up there. Jake is def one of my top 3 fave metalcore vocalists, if not my favorite. My other top has a lot of controversy around him so I won’t say 😅 I’ve been listening to the genre since the early 2000’s so I gravitate more towards their sound and others that are similar. That’s so awesome that you live near their hometown and prob got to see some amazing shows! I’ve seen them about 7 times but all in the southeast. Nothing cooler than hometown shows! I’m lucky to have been able to grow up with Whitechapel and be around since their beginning, having been from the same general area as them. Cool stuff!
I always preferred Howard over Jesse in terms of raw vocal talent (jesse has improved CONSIDERABLY over the years tho) but for me In terms of lyrics and writing i just prefer Jesse more so. Howard just seems to always talk about lost love in some sort of sense (at least for his time in KSE) which is a fine subject to talk about and has given us classic fucking songs but Jesse seems way more diverse in what he writes about. I think personally Jesse is a High A to low/middle S but in terms of raw vocal talent Howard is better for sure.

Agreed with most except for volumes. Ok yeah they are basically the same… but both are really fucking good sounding. Both have the exact kinda scream I wish I had haha And both good singing with slight edge to Myke Edit: the on her mind video slapped
You typically don't want co-leads though, is what they're getting at. Like with Born of Osiris, the keyboardist sings, but he also has other shit to do. Two singers who _only_ sing needs a justification.
Please listen to northlanes live stuff now and you will realise how great Marcus bridge is, doesn’t even feel like he takes a breath and his screaming has improved like crazy.
Jesse should be joint with Howard for me, I saw Killswitch with Howard, and they were good, but I've seen them Jesse, and they're miles better with Jesse, his singing voice live is absolute perfection, and his stuff with Times Of Grace is absolutely mesmerising, Howards better bands are out of Killswitch for me

they were definitely too biased instead of judging vocals alone, they placed Oliver Sykes above Jesse from kse for example, although i love bmth oli fucked his voice over and over again while Jesse is doing it for more than 20 years, this alone should place Jesse higher, specially if they consider the influence kse had on the whole genre, so many more consistent and versatile vocalists being on B
@@Ottoni174 I definitely felt bias on many of the vocalists. And no shade on JT Cavey, I love Erra and Texas in July, but he’s had the same vocal range for years and is no wayyy deserving of A tier.

I know lot oof people are saying this but Spencer from INK is kinda the Corey Taylor of Metalcore as of now. He has the personality, skill, cleaver lyricist, great highs and lows, mixed with that singing voice that puts a lot of metalcore vocalists to shame.
For me, Mike Hranica deserves an S placement. I've been a staunch defender of Prada throughout all their genre shifts because it's been some of the best "Core" music out there. He's so unique vocally and I love how raw he gets, where sometimes he doesn't give a fuck if he sounds "solid" but cares more about the emotion behind his words. Deserves more love if you ask me.

A few improvements: I would love to have seen Spencer Sotelo of periphery (obviously) and Danny Worsnop (unless I just didn't see them on there). especially Spencer though his vocals are incredible and has one of the best ranges in a voice I have ever heard. Would love to see him attempt some new screaming techniques though he mainly two screaming sounds and would love to hear some more. But both of these vocalists definitely deserver to be on there. Great list though.
I just checked and I didn't see AA on there so probably no Danny. I think I also personally checked for Jinjer since I'm pretty sure they're metalcore, though they sound basically like Opeth Lite, and didn't see them either. If you’re still taking requests, I’d love to see you rank Dani Winter-Bates & Jason Cameron from Bury Tomorrow!
Jason :(
Don’t know whether I’ll like the new BT without him
so where's Spencer Charnas???
can't wait to see where y'all placed ma boi Winston from PWD!
His live stuff can be Meh At times tho. High b low a
@@devinbender8428 I totally agree with your placement dude💯💯💯
@@devinbender8428 Yeah if he was consistend he'd probably be a mid A or barely an S even, but he's so inconsistent live it's hard to put him up that high.
@@niki3150 if I had to put him. I’d say high B.
@@devinbender8428 I agree. Definite A tier, possibly lower S if he was more consistent.
I worked the fever stage for blue ridge (where he climbed up) and he actually almost broke our stage 😂 they were absolutely amazing to watch tho!!!
I ain't gonna freak out or nothing, but jake does Highs, Mids, Lows, spoken word, sing-scream, and has a ton of energy. Especially their last 2 albums. Idk, just seems wrong
Definitely agree. If you’ve listened to all their albums front to back you’d know that. I think people who just casually listen to ABR wouldn’t know that is all. Which is fine, everyone has their taste. I just don’t think they listen/like ABR too much.
Dude is extremely talented live, in studio, and lyrically. Such a wholesome dude as well.
@@YenShively yeah, and I'm not even the most hardcore ABR fan out there. I got into metal around 2016 and they were one of the first bands I got showed. Naturally like Phantom Anthem and Gaurdians the most, definitely have way more plays on those albums than their others combined. I wouldn't even say their sound is my particular taste anymore but I live right near their hometown and have gone to a lot of their concerts, and I've heard a lot of both live and studio metal vocalists at this point and Jake is defintely up there. Especially on stage. I'll always be rooting for the guys
@@Glaedr11 fair enough! I get they’re not some people’s taste. Everyone has different preferences :) my favorites are basically everything from Constellations and onwards. Not one miss for me 🤣 but yeah exactly, you can’t not root for these guys. They’re just such wholesome people from what I can tell from my experiences meeting them and others as well.
Cool stuff!
@@YenShively ronnie is good too 😉
@@Glaedr11 Ronnie who? Haha 😅
I think personally Jesse is a High A to low/middle S but in terms of raw vocal talent Howard is better for sure.
you guys gotta check august burns reds chop suey cover. i used to think the same of jake, but once i heard that cover, he definitely gained some extra points in my book
If there’s no Spencer Charnas atleast in A or S tier in part 3, I will start riot against this channel!!
The new Memphis may fire is actually ridiculously good
Yes!
WHERES PART 3
Did I miss something or did this list not include Winston Mccall from Parkway Drive? I feel like he should be on here
yea wtf
S tier
Oh snap, almost missed this one. Always happy to see a new DDS vid
Agreed with most except for volumes.
Ok yeah they are basically the same… but both are really fucking good sounding. Both have the exact kinda scream I wish I had haha
And both good singing with slight edge to Myke
Edit: the on her mind video slapped
I will not accept any Volumes slander, ESPECIALLY from Dickey.
Turbo mad with Sean of MTS being not super S tier angy angy angy emoji. Love you lads
Im still waiting for part 3 of this tbh lol
Ive been waiting for this episode for so long! I needed to see where you would rank Sam Carter! :D
We all knew it would be S ;)
well the thing is, there are metalcore bands with 2 vocalists for cleans and uncleans respectively
You typically don't want co-leads though, is what they're getting at. Like with Born of Osiris, the keyboardist sings, but he also has other shit to do. Two singers who _only_ sing needs a justification.
@@DragonTigerBoss I'm talking dgd, amity affliction, wage war (kinda), etc.
As I Lay Dying has Tim for dirty vocals and Josh Gilbert for cleans
Please listen to northlanes live stuff now and you will realise how great Marcus bridge is, doesn’t even feel like he takes a breath and his screaming has improved like crazy.
Jesse should be joint with Howard for me, I saw Killswitch with Howard, and they were good, but I've seen them Jesse, and they're miles better with Jesse, his singing voice live is absolute perfection, and his stuff with Times Of Grace is absolutely mesmerising, Howards better bands are out of Killswitch for me
Yep. KSE with Jesse have always been some of the best live shows I’ve ever seen.
I hope the Reflections vocalist pops up in there. Meaty in a all 3 ranges and fuck... the emotion... idk if you can beat that level of sincerity.
Lucas Magyar from Veil of Maya is one of the best live vocalists I’ve ever seen
Seriously? I was left disappointed when I saw them last. I dunno if it was jet lag but low on energy and vocals weren’t great.
@@mrsbeard5225 oh really? When/where did you see them?
“It’s been 84 years.” thanks for releasing part 2 guys!
Whilst not all direct metalcore guys, the S tier imo should be: Howard Jones, Björn Strid, Spencer Sotelo, Greg Puciato, Keith Buckley, Jason Butler, Randy Blythe, winston Mccall, Sam Carter.
So glad you put winston mccall in S, he is my number one favorite vocalist.
Soilwork is metalcore? 'Figure Number Five' gives off those metalcore vibes, why would you consider him metalcore?
We will always love the DickeyDines show
No Spencer Charnas, Tim Labesis, or Matt Heafy you guys missed some good vocalists.
I would’ve personally put Jake Luhrs in a mid-low B tier. Dude can sing now too
His highs have vastly improved in their newer stuff too
@@andrewgreiner4681dude right?! His highs had my jaw dropped in the death below album
i didn’t know dance gavin dance was metalcore hahaha tho i’m not complaining that they included jon here. love that guy
I'm so glad to see you guys give Landon so much props. To me he belongs in S tier also but was surprised you guys appreciate what he does. His range is great and even overall as a frontman. The Plot in You is a way underrated band.
Spencer from INK is S tier and im so so so so so glad that a billion people in the comments agree with me on this. Been listening to them since 2007 and they have definitely improved a ton.
Brendan from Counterparts and Chris from LMTF you should add for part 3
I know this is the metalcore tier list but I gotta say y’all need to move Will Ramos up from the B tier to the S tier in the deathcore tier list ASAP because he’s proven to be an absolute beast. Give my man the respect he deserves.
Yeah I agree with you, Will is an fucking beast. I'm surprised they haven't talked about Will and or Lorna Shore's new EP.
He's pretty boring, most of LS songs he tries too hard to sound like a monster, it's kinda cringe.
@@JalimRabeikkkkk most? he's done 3 songs, and only one has what you're talking about
@@The-vk8dr i'm talking about live perfomance too, they play their old songs live, don't they? Lol
Same, they have an hour set on youtube somewhere and there is not a drop off from record to live even though he does some CRAZY shit that takes a ton of breath.
39:09 I cannot WAIT for part 3 to finally drop in October!
Confirmed?
Ben Duerr and Will Ramos are vocalist sent by the Gods
Facts - but we're leaving metalcore here ngl
And Dickie Allen and Derek Conolly were sent by Satan
they should be in the deathcore tier list video
Jared just goes along with whatever Austin says
Hm, was surprised by low ranking of Marcus from Northlane ngl, dude's underrated for sure)
If I'm not seeing Eddie Berg from Imminence in high S-tier after last 3 singles I'm going in guns blazing😂
High agree… now with 5 singles Eddie still proves he has the BEST cleans
I don’t think you fairly placed Jake. He’s really come through the last few years and based on ABR being who they are alone. Just my opinion.
they were definitely too biased instead of judging vocals alone, they placed Oliver Sykes above Jesse from kse for example, although i love bmth oli fucked his voice over and over again while Jesse is doing it for more than 20 years, this alone should place Jesse higher, specially if they consider the influence kse had on the whole genre, so many more consistent and versatile vocalists being on B
@@Ottoni174 I definitely felt bias on many of the vocalists. And no shade on JT Cavey, I love Erra and Texas in July, but he’s had the same vocal range for years and is no wayyy deserving of A tier.
@@ashleemons Rory from dayseeker has the best clean vocals of that list technically speaking and he is among Oli too, but well, it is a list, no need to get annoyed by that right
@@Ottoni174 100% :)
When are we getting part 3 I would love to know if any of these have changed
Best metalcore albums Tier list next please
Breaks my heart that ya'll put Jake Luhrs on the C tier 😥
It's all good though, this is just me because I'm a huge fan of his
I know lot oof people are saying this but Spencer from INK is kinda the Corey Taylor of Metalcore as of now.
Give some love to the clear vocals too
Where is part three and four? Been two years guys come on
Listen to enemy of the night by Northland, really shows off Marcus potential with his screams
Great list, very accurate in my opinion.
I'd love to also see Knocked Loose there but I guess they made it clear they don't like Bryan's vocals, which is a shame, because he's one of my favorites.
SOOOOOOOO glad you put Sam Carter in S tier, he's one of the best vocalists ever hands down
Theres literally no argument for Sam being anywhere other than s imo
