Gerard HAS to be an S tier. Defined and dominated a music genre. Still relevant in 2022 not to mention he's now impacting the television scene with him Umbrella Academy Comics. Gerard is one of the all time greats in music imo.

Huge props for shouting out Just Dance by Lady Gaga. I feel like that song got played a lot in 2008 and then everyone seemed to forget what a masterpiece it is. Timeless IMO.
I had the wonderful opportunity in the 2000's - about 2014 where I did not listen to as much pop music as varieties of hiphop and rock so when I was feeling like listening to 'new stuff' that (double) album came to my attention for the first time and I was like "fuh qya"
My only disagreement is Gerard Way is S-Tier. The Black Parade alone as a song is probably wayyyy more influential in the pop punk/emo scene than anything many of the other artists have done.
Nah Blink are the kings most of them copied them, MCR basically copied Queens sound in a good way, Panic used to be a blink cover band please do some pop punk history searching.

Apparently, Tom Delonge's company has a contract with the US DOD (Department of Defense aka military heads) to deal with UFO and aerial phenomena. His work was incredibly instrumental to those UFO papers that were recently released. Say whatever you want about the guy but it looks like he may have a point (he'll likely go down as the Jack Sparrow of the alternative scene).

Thank you for saying this as I was about to comment when Finn simply stated, "The alien stuff is ruff," to indirectly downplay all the work Tom has done. I love what Finn does, but he really needs to do more research sometimes and this is a fine example of that.

People have *got to* remember though that UFO means "unidentified flying object" and not "extraterrestrial flight craft." A cloud or a bird is a UFO is someone doesn't know what it is.
People see things in the sky and don't know what they are. Doesn't mean aliens.
It's the sensationalising of UFOs that's the problem and Tom does do that to some extent and the media then sensationalises Tom's sensationalism.
Tom Delonge is might not be the best guitarists but he has an ability to make something super simple yet memorable and iconic at the same time, also an amazing lyricists which he gets no credit especially being in 3 different bands
Tom's voice has a unique quality about it. He may not sing what one would think as "traditionally" well however, his voice holds your interest, and you want to hear it again.

I unknowingly met C, Taylor in 2000 at the Croatian Cultural Center in B.C. Canada. Slipknot was opening for Coal Chamber. I was selling green at the show and these dudes and grrrl wanted green. One of was the one and only... Unmasked. Not a clue. I had mentioned seeing Slipknot at OZZFEST 99 and grabbing a cassette single demo of wait and bleed of one of the DJs who smelled like garbage and just being blown away. Wishing I could get in to the show. BAM this guy giggled and said he could get me in the show...30 mins later SK took the stage... I lost my shoes at that show. Years later...STONE SOUR appeared... NO FUCKING WAY. lol

Howard, Columbus’s own. He reminds me a lot of Brian Fair. Has a killer normal singing voice but screams with the best of them.
After watching outbreak fest 2022 id include Brendan Yates to that as well as far as charisma goes at least.
Didn't understand why Gerard wasn't S tier until Finn said he hated nerd shit blending into rock, now it all makes sense lol. Good list, was fun to watch.
I totally get that, but it really shocked me when Finn said his vocal chops were just good but not great. In my book, he's a serious contender for best hard rock vocalist of all time, and easily better than anyone in S tier other than maybe Corey and Gaga.

I just saw Lamb of God live for the second time last weekend and my God is Randy Blythe an absolute monster. He's out for a bit with covid and I hate people are missing him because he really is incredible. Easy S tier.
Absolutely a top tier metal frontman, knows how to work the crowd really well and has such a powerful voice live too. Also seems like a really cool dude who just loves photography, surfing and writing.
It's good that people missed him because it means hes still relevant. And more people went to see them when they went back on tour with him.
Definitely would need to add Randy to this list. I have unfortunately never personally seen them live but I watch full concerts all the time of all different genres. Randy easily seems to be S tier.
I actually adore Way's singing. Like I don't know about how good it is technically, but just pure enjoyment wise, God I love it. I remember listening to "ghost of you" the first time and shitting myself. And the live version of headfirst for halos, hot damn 🔥
Idk too much about vocals but I know he has a great range🤘 not as deep as Maynard, for example, but has like 3 solid octaves under his belt which is still impressive, some sources cited as high as 5 octaves but that's a bit generous.
I like to hear emotions in the singer's voice so I love Gerard's singing.

I mean, I'd say he's a really great Vocalist. He so great at conveying emotions with his vocals and also singing very well at the same time
so regarding nickelback lyrics… I used to go to a methadone clinic and one of the counselors there put a nickelback song up on TH-cam on his Laptop and told me to read the lyrics (they were about sobriety) honestly that experience did make me want to get sober, albeit not in the intended way. I just realized how far from grace I had fallen 😂

It's a shame he's fallen so hard but I saw Marilyn Manson in 1995 (because Clutch was opening) and he was a FANTASTIC frontman, I could see him in big arenas and then a few years later he was at Ozzfest and he killed it. What a fall from grace.

I love that you mention calling the lead singer of the band by the band name! When I was a kid before I knew anything about music, I did that as well. For example, I thought singer of Led Zeppelin was Firstname: Led, Lastname: Zeppelin. Like dang man, that Led guy is a really good guitar player! I wanna be like him someday.

So I went to Emo Night the other day and the sheer amount of ppl in Blink shirts was insane. And MCR shirts. Those were the two bands tees I saw the most. & they had life-size cardboard cutouts of Gerard (black parade era) and Travis Barker (2000s). They also had Hayley & Olli. But yeah the crowd went crazy for BMTH, MCR and Blink. Fun times ngl.

Asap rocky has higher rank than Gerard Way? Really? Gerard is so talented for these reasons: his vocals are not just good for emo or rock music. He sounds good in other genres too. Have you heard of his new black metal collab? Even if he hadn't performed for a long time, his vocals and screams improved. He's a talented artist and writer. Besides that, some mainstream artists are inspired by his band, MCR.

there's no way Avril or Tom Delonge are above Gerard Way. the guy IS emo music. think about their most recent reunion tour. sold out in under a minute. Angels and Airwaves was not that good and fell off, Avril is not a great singer, hell Phil Anselmo has lost his voice in his age mostly due to his life style.
MCR isnt my favorite band but that guy was that band and that band was/is a behemoth

Des Moines was a crazy small scene especially pre 2000. Corey has a massive personality and charisma to burn. From the stories I’ve heard when I worked for Clown, Corey was an easy choice once Slipknot’s original vocalist didn’t work out.
As a hip hop head I was pleasantly surprised at how well you are tapped in / informed of ASAP Rocky’s importance & influence in hip hop culture 👍🏼
The problem is rappers aren't front men, because they don't lead a band, just like solo artist who only use studio/touring musicians. In order to be a front person you have to have a consistent band.
When I met Danny warsnop a couple years ago he was so humble I was surprised. Idk if he always is that way but that was my experience with him. He still was somewhat of a partier but seemed to have his stuff together finally! Also Haley Williams is definitely s tear for me. Her vocals are astonishing at times
Danny is a mix bag in general I'd say he was A tier 2010, 2012-2013.... 2010 he was super energetic and had some great screams.. singing was average but he put on a show
2013 he was charismatic you gave him respect as soon as he walked on stage he just had presence about him and backed it up with awesome vocals...2016-17 when he returned B tier still great but not as good for both...now meh he's lost it

fun fact about Scott Stapp, I was at a venue to see No Use For A Name and Scott Stapp was playing a solo show in the same place...he brought TWO semi trucks. One with his gear for music and the other with all of his crosses and Jesus accessories.
Liam from the Cancer Bats, and Rody from Protest the Hero were some of my absolute favorite frontmen. Their stage presence was always insane, whether at the small venues or bigger venues like Heavy MTL. ❤

I think Finn assumes that all Doom is Stoner Doom, and so he doesn’t consider any Doom band too much. I’m surprised he wasn’t on the list though. He was S Tier popularity wise when October Rust came out

Well Gerard Way should belong on the s Tier. He is an amazing vocalist, he can scream he can sing and he's just as charistmatic as Corey Taylor or Hayley Williams. He isn't just some geek, he literally made a Batman comic and Umbrealla Academy wich is one of Netflix's most watched series. His band literally influenced Bilie Eilish, Lil Peep and Post Malone. He never had any Drama apart from the drug stuff in his early years. But he's literally one of the most charistatic and beat vocalists in all of Alternative Cultures history and yes I'm butthurt, cause you're ignoring all these facts. His stage presence is sooooo entertaining and there are soooo many videos that prove it. Literally every live Performance that isn't filmed with a phone, you can find on YT, you can see how good He is in what he does.

Officially throwing Danny Elfman in the ring. Dude is actually a pretty good singer, guitarist, percussionist, etc., and is super charismatic. If you ever had the chance to see Oingo Boingo live, or at the very least see some concert footage, you can clearly see how great he is.
(Also, the rest of the band is freakishly good as well. They don't get taken seriously because, well, Boingo, but they are amazing.)

As I was reading comments, I thought of an interesting person to put on a tier. I would do Brian Fair of Shadows Fall, Not only does his vocal combo of growls and screams along with serious vocal ability intrigue, but, how interesting is a 6’3 guy with dreds down to the back of his calves.

my bias would put Billie Joe Armstrong at S-Tier, but considering the wide world of leads i completely understand if he's A tier or B tier
1. he is definitely a stellar songwriter, while guitar is his preference he has shown chops with other instruments, from 1988-2005 his vocals were not exactly top tier but i love it and can sing along to it while from 2006-on his voice has evolved to a dynamic pop voice
2. excellent stage presence, gets the fans involved in the show, still very energetic but definitely not as wild nowadays as in 1993-1996. also anyone who saw the instagram response to someone stealing his car can say that he's got a really good head on his shoulders despite his drunken outburst on iHeartRadio (which i actually kinda liked)
3. i would want him to be my cool uncle who gets me into music. i also just look at his family life as an example of what i would want to strive for.
Hetfield's silhouette alone makes him S tier. There is not a single more iconic power stance in metal than Hetfield.
James Hetfield ultimate S tier. I am definitely biased, but 100% checks every box. Talented, obviously. Totally influential. Charismatic, check. And friend worthy? Absolutely! Very down to earth, and if he's your buddy, I'm sure you would be able to save money on auto issues with his ability to build cars. Papa Het🤘!!!

They basically all just let Lars deal with it as he saw fit, and James and Lars are polar opposites in many respects (I still respect Lars as a songwriter overall, and he seems to clearly be a marketing ace, but damn is he also a douche LOL).

Totally agree with you as well. It always did seem to be Lars complaining with 3 guys hanging out behind him wishing they were elsewhere. Ive always admired Hetfield because it always felt like he was the heart and soul of the band. Look at how he was with Miley Cyrus on Stern. That was proud Papa Het at his finest.
James never wanted to be a frontman and originally needed Dave to talk to the audience for him, seriously gotta respect how much he improved while still maintaining a more down to Earth vibe than most people fronting the biggest metal band in the world would.

Mustaine of the 80s and 90s, when Megadeth was at their peak, was definitely A tier. For a dude that didn’t move around a lot at all, he came across as total badass with his charisma and confidence.
I have a soft spot for Sugar Ray. The band used SuperCat on Fly which was too….i dont know what. Too dangerous for white people so the radio would play the SuperCat free version.
