Joe didn't have the ropes to stop the other guys running away from him. Respect to the guys who don't mind stepping out of their comfort zones to do this.
I'm here for the history of the track. I've stumbled upon this abandoned track which is overgrown, broken, crumbling, faded, and in serious disrepair. It's pretty neat to run on this track now, I did not know it's history.
1n the 1970 100 yd dash finals Professional Wrestler "Abdullah the Butcher" ran a blistering 10.5 seconds @ 345 lbs in 114 degree heat. From Riyad, Saudi Arabia. He also placed 2nd that year in the Obstacle course. Just a remarkable performance from a grotesque looking man.
@@t100base Also in the 1966 superstars, George "The Animal" Steele won the obstacle course with a then record time of 28 seconds. He beat Gerd Bonk of East Germany in the final. A truly exciting final.
@@jaygribbin1667 ... only bettered by Oscar Pistorious winning the three-legged race. I think he cheated. When the gun went off, he said he was nowhere near the bathroom.
Why? He's a boxer. He put miles in and not sprinting. I'm not shocked at all. His body is made completely differently than the other athletes bc they run & sprint a lot more in their sports as opposed to a boxer that's stationary most of his training.
This doesn't surprise me at all. The state of Louisiana produces some of the best athletes in sports. Look at the high school football SPARK championship from 2013. The SPARK measures athletes in several categories, 40 yard dash, vertical jump etc. and the 2013 winner was Speedy Noil from Louisiana. The 2014 winner was Kirk Merrit from Louisiana. So, Elvin Hayes winning does not surprise me. What did surprise me is Frazier coming in last. He has powerful legs and is really built like a sprinter.
Wow I can't believe what I'm reading. I expected Joe to come in last. His whole career was a stationary sport. He never sprinted. He put miles in which developed your muscles to have slow twitch fiber. All the other athletes sprint occasionally & are way more explosive. Joe isn't built for sprinting at all. Not even a little bit. The only fact that you spoke on is HS athletes in Louisiana. Perception creates beliefs & it is very weird with people. I love & prefer facts. Salud.
@@BreuckelensFinest you're clueless. There's been muscles sprinters like forever. Bob hayes Tony Dorsett! H. WALKER WAS A TANK. FRAZIER HAS SPRINTS ROOTS TOO! AND IT'S NATURAL SPEED. YOU DON'T MUCH PRACTICE TO TAKE OFF.
Completely false. I'm 5'6" & I ran a 10.62 in the 100 meters. I would have blown his doors off. Height has zero to do with speed. It's about form, technique & most of all power. The second fastest man ever in the NFL was Trindon Holliday at 5'5". He ran a 10.00 twice. You have no idea what you're talking about. 11.5 is horribly slow in the 100 "yard" dash which is 10 meters shorter than a 100 meters. That's how slow that basketball player was. In fact, Alan Iverson ran a 4.3 40 yard dash & was about 5'10" & would have blown this tall dude out with no effort at all.
@@BreuckelensFinest yes and foot-speed/efficiency you are correct. 5"8" Canadian won Olympics he got caught but that period of time , they all used stuff. Ben Johnson in his 50s I saw him smoke a younger dude in a sprint. Not even close.
This is crazy, however, I use to love to see athlete's from different sports compete against each other. Those were the good old days.

Where is the juice? Is the juice still lose???
Killy was flying at half-track. We studied his books on skiing in the 70s
Bob Seagren , bellissimo, stupendo, dolcissimo, gentilissimo, un grande campione e pure modesto.
Hey, where's the silver bullet Band?
Pretty good stride on Elvin at 6'9!
Towards the end of the race (2:45), Elvin Hayes starts running like Steven Seagal.🤣🤣.
You'll never see an event like this again because many athletes contracts say they can't do other sports.
anybody have the superstars 100 yd dash from 87-88 where Hershel walker beats Darrell Green twice and ran a 9.35 ???
How about oj?
bob seagren is very actractive, he is not only incredibky handsome, his smile is so sweet, it reflects his noble heart
Is that Bob seger and the silver Bullet Band? Because I used to listen to his Band...
Joe Frazier not smoking today
Forget it Elvin, it's Chinatown.
Pretty nifty. But, how did he get that nose? Certainly not from Roman Polanski. 😎
Roared on outside, getting up and drawing out. Horserace lingo.
Wow Joe got whupped again. I wish they would of had a boxing match in this thing though. Joe would of knocked all their teeth out

Wow, a lifetime ago. Shocking to see how rag tag these guys were dressed. Before the days of Nike Adidas etc attire.
Not what you would call all around athletes, 11.5 is a Jr HS time.....
And it's 100 yards, too, not 100 meters.
I’m looking for video of 440 yd race 1973 and 4 x 440 relay 1973 ncaa meet.. wondering if you seen it. ABC wide world of sports
Surprised Smokin Joe is so slow.
