@@Rab_Knox I would, under specific circumstances for the definition of "Power Metal" (excluding usage of the term at the time, ignoring Epic Metal or counting it as a PM Subgenre as well as softer Heavy Metal, consider USPM and EUPM equal), go back as far as Dio and Manowar, maybe even counting Deep Purple ("Burn") as Proto-PM, but Motorhead is a big stretch.
You are absolutely correct with this not existing without Eddie Van Halen. Eddie revolutionized guitar playing and ushered in the "shred" genre which directly made bands like this
Their guitarist Herman Li str3ams and does lots of reaction videos to people playing covers, esp on different instruments. Like flute. This song was in Guitar Hero 3 and was nuts to play there too
The Final Boss Level of Guitar Hero 3 back in the day. Herman Li, when asked if they would play this live said, I'm going to have to practice a lot more 😂
Herman Lee said if you want to play as fast as him, lock yourself in a room for 10 years and never come out. BTW this is edited. It’s not the full song! Great reaction!
The band saw a video of Mia Asano and Ally the Piper covering this song on electric violin and bagpipes. They immediately invited both ladies to perform on stage with them!
"Operation ground and pound" should be your next dive into DragonForce!!! With a solo that is arguably faster, longer, and more technical. And let's by no means forget about the insane drummer that could take out an entire swarm of hornets with just his sticks!!!
They call their style "extreme heavy metal". They are also the fastest band in the world. Their song "The Game" is their fastest at 240 BPM and features frontman Matt Heafy as a guest vocalist. My google-fu is strong ... LOL
Dude... when I completed this song on Guitar Hero in EASY mode I still remember the PRIDE I felt!! Then there still were NORMAL and HARD ....but we don't talk about those levels. If this is on Beat Saber VR -I don't want to even know...... Also... always love when anyone comments "Omg this solo!" -BEFORE the REAL solo battle comes. :'D
i'm kinda sick of this Dragonforce song, but to answer your question, it's C minor in 200 BPM (down to 170BPM in first half of the guitar solo in the album version of the song). i think it's cool at least you even gave them a chance, makes me wonder what other Power Metal bands you might vibe with. if you are interested sometime, my favorite songs are Soldiers of the Wasteland, Dawn Over A New World, Cry For Eternity, Black Winter Night (the original version, not the 2010 remaster), and The Last Journey Home. if you are cool with geeky, campy, and/or cheesy Power Metal, see if your audience will help me vouch for Blind Guardian, Rhapsody, and/or Hammerfall (though, this one isn't as high fantasy as the others mentioned, but they are at least vaguely considered part of the same scene). FYI, not all Power Metal is as intense or fast as Dragonforce, they are on the extreme side of the subgenre. i could also toss up a couple other names like Gloryhammer and Unleash the Archers, but while they are good, i don't feel as strongly about them compared to the others i mentioned.
"Are all their songs this fast?" - Pretty much, yeah. That's kind of their whole "thing." "This is like some Dungeons and Dragons Rock" - Welcome to the Power Metal Genre.
Of course. This is POWER Metal. It's emboldening, empowering. It can reach deep into your soul and help you discover a strength you were completely unaware of. Also, Dragonforce has more and even better songs you should check out like My Spirit Wil Go on, Fury of the Storm, The Last Journey Home, The Warrior Inside, Operation Ground and Pound.

Dragonforce exploded into the public zeitgeist after this song showed up in Guitar Hero. It was the impossible challenge track that almost nobody could beat at the time. They're huge nerds too lol. As ridiculous as their music is, if you want to see some truly mind-melting music you've GOT to check out Polyphia. Tim Henson is in the running for best guitarist alive. I'd suggest either G.O.A.T., 40oz, or Playing God ft. Steve Vai. True masters of the craft.
Dude... their current vocalist(Marc Hudson) does a duet with a somewhat unknown female vocalist(Gabriela) of a cover of Helloween's "Eagle Fly Free" that's effing amazing. I'm not going to advertise for the YT channel because he sells vocal lessons. But clues.
I only recently discovered Dragonforce because of Dan Vasc's covers of their songs (love his covers, too). First thing I thought of hearing their guitar was possibly influenced by Yngwie Malmsteen. I believe Dan Vasc & Victor the Guitar Nerd included the chorus of this song in their montage "10 Power Metal Songs in 6 Minutes"...which is awesome.
The cheesiest Power Metal song ever,- a satire of the genre itself, of Guitar Hero and of Nintendo and computer game music,- and the world´s been loving it for almost twenty years. Has by now the same iconic status as The Final Countdown,- not an easy feat to pull of. And INSANELY competent musicians. All hail guitar shredding,- it´s finally coming back into the mainstream.
Tech N9ne Album absolute power” is one of my favorites Sometime when you have time listen to some “Bus driver” if you haven’t…not a reaction request Just in your spare time ..listen to his lyrics “Bus driver” sounds like tech but with complex Lyrics
Interesting you make the comparison between DragonForce and Tenacious D, considering a lot of people were introduced to DragonForce through Guitar Hero 3, as this was the song that was unlocked after completing the game's career mode. Tenacious D's "The Metal" was also featured in the game. Also, the blast beats and super-fast riffs are pretty signature for these guys. I highly recommend checking out their song "Fury of the Storm," if you really like this one. Both songs are from their Sonic Firestorm album, which I believe released in 2005.
Have never heard of this group or this song. Couldn't understand most of the words and am not a fan, per se, of this type of music; its loud noise to my ears. That said.......that guitar battle WAS FIRE!!!! Suggesting this for your listening and reaction. Its not the norm but its a great music battle: Its intense. 2 Cellos is the group, playing "Thunderstruck". Come on BP, you can do this .........
Ahhhh yes, Through The Fire and Flames! Or as I like to call it... Carpal Tunnel City 😂 Edit: Also check out Herman Li's (lead guitarist) twitch channel. He streams all the time, and he's a super cool guy.

Yeah Black Pegasus my brother loved energy. But you were robbed. This isn't full song. So much like Ren Tale Of Jenny and Screech. So re-listen to Dragonforce Through The Fire And Flames full version
There is a Latino band just as impressive. Check out Del Castillo, Dias De Las Angelo's. They may not be quite as fast, but definately just as impressive, especially sinc2 they play acoustic, which is arguably much more difficult to do and do it well.😊😊
Herman Li has a youtube channel. He has a lot of videos just reviewing covers of Through the Fire and Flames, complimenting and critiquing how the guitarists do. I remember there was one where he said something to the effect of "[...] I think that's better than I could've done when I was younger. Good job! This is great!" He's a joy to watch, and you should definitely check out his reactions to the covers and the covers themselves. On your own time, of course, not for the channel. Correction: I believe he uses the Dragonforce channel itself.
If only i could suggest technical guitarists. Theres so much you don't know about these flying finger guitarists. Something along your tasteful jams would be Mr Big, which houses Paul GIlbert, one of the top 3 guitarists in the world in my opinion. I'm'a shout out the song Down To Mexico, if the comment gets noticed and you toss it out cool beans broski :) Mr Big is 100% something you should find a song for tho.

This video brought to you by Head & Shoulder and Pantene....lmao. Most people are in awe of the guitar playing (which is mind blowing) but they forget that the drummer must also keep up with them!
If you want D&D metal check out the Dwarven metal band (no, I'm not joking) Wind Rose. Start with "Diggy Diggy Hole" and go down the rabbit hole from there.
Nope you're not tripping. They're all about Fantasy driven themes in their music. Herman Li and Sam Totman are absolute beasts on guitar but for me the vocals and harmonies are what makes them so good. My inner nerd and D&D lover found a band that provides a soundtrack for those things. They're from England and have been around for a while. You should also check out similar bands such as Stratovarius, Sonata Arctica, Rhapsody of Fire, to name a few. Europe has a lot of bands like these. Power Metal and Symphonic Metal is huge across the pond.
Interestingly, although the Dragonforce guitarists are very fast and accurate players, there are faster ones. Check out (in no particular order; I'll go for alphabetical) Michael Angelo Batio and Yngwie Malmsteen. As a couple of examples.
Fun Fact! Herman Li, the main guitarist for Dragon Force was given a copoywrite hit for playing his own song on stream. What do you do? you check out 'Black Widow of La Porte' By John 5 if you want to hear a similar style but with a very different flavour.
The only band capable of playing instruments fast enough to keep up with eminem. And yes, these guys are super fantasy rock. I like Cry Thunder by these guys. I also like Halestorm, Apocalyptic. That lady rocks.
viking rock...tends to be a little bit different. I feel like the most popular band that's specifically inspired by vikings and old norse things in general is Amon Amarth who have a ton of songs and albums inspired by old norse mythology but they're also a melodic death metal band where as Dragonforce is more progressive speed metal. if you ever want to check out Amon Amarth, most of my favorite songs are from the Deceiver of the Gods album, like As Loke Falls, Father of the Wolf, and Hel. The whole album has to do with Loki. Their most popular album is Twilight of the Thunder God, with the most popular songs from that one being the title track and Guardians of Asgaard Another route that "viking" music sometimes goes down is the route of Heilung, who are a group that create their own instruments and construct songs based on ancient poetry and texts, sometimes in dead languages that they have to reconstruct. They're so cool to listen to, and it's just such a unique and primeval experience. A lot of their songs have the vibe of like, preparing for battle late at night with a heavy fog rolling in, in a clearing in an old growth mountain forest. Some of their popular songs are Krigsgaldr, In Maidjan, Svarand, and Norupo. I would also recommend either watching the Lifa performance video or listening to the Lifa album (which is just the audio from that performance) because it has the ambient sound of a live, open air performance, which I think enhances the listening experience since it adds the sense that the music and chanting are taking place in a community. Although the studio albums are really good for background music while you're trying to focus or like to meditate to since some of the chants are pretty repetitive, like Hamrer Hippyer.
We need a second reaction... to the full song. You're missing an even more killer guitar solo, and more lyrics. Also consider checking out more of their catalog. Cry Thunder, Black Fire, Operation Ground and Pound, are just a few I can name off the top of my head right now.
I'm not impressed by DragonForce , maybe it's just this song . But so far I'm not impressed . The video I put at the end of this comment is a much better song & it comes from one of the best selling albums of all time . Which that album the song at the end of this comment comes from also still holds 2 records today . The first record is , of the 11 or 12 songs on the album . 7 were singles & all 7 singles were on Billboard's top 100 count down . The second record that the album holds is , of the 7 singles that were on Billboard's top 100 count from August of 87 through October of 88 . 6 of them were in the top 10 & the song at the end of this comment was at #2 for 6 1/2 weeks . th-cam.com/video/0UIB9Y4OFPs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=I-LPkF0hE7G8aptk

There's an amazing newer live performance from their 2017 United Alive DVD, which is worth watching.
You could say MOTORHEAD was the OG of it
@@Rab_Knox I would, under specific circumstances for the definition of "Power Metal" (excluding usage of the term at the time, ignoring Epic Metal or counting it as a PM Subgenre as well as softer Heavy Metal, consider USPM and EUPM equal), go back as far as Dio and Manowar, maybe even counting Deep Purple ("Burn") as Proto-PM, but Motorhead is a big stretch.
Yup, all their albums are this fast, like unbelievable fast. And you just heard the short version
First, yes. All their songs are this fast. Second, that dueling guitar part is my favorite part of any music video I've ever seen.
You are absolutely correct with this not existing without Eddie Van Halen. Eddie revolutionized guitar playing and ushered in the "shred" genre which directly made bands like this
Guitar playing should be looked at like B.C. and A.D. with eruption. Period.
Their guitarist Herman Li str3ams and does lots of reaction videos to people playing covers, esp on different instruments. Like flute. This song was in Guitar Hero 3 and was nuts to play there too
The Final Boss Level of Guitar Hero 3 back in the day. Herman Li, when asked if they would play this live said, I'm going to have to practice a lot more 😂
wasnt it in gt 2 aswell?
I never ever knew Rave and Metal music even liked each other,. Now I discover, together they have a child.
Check out Fear Factory's Remanufacture album from 97.
And now you must play the game. Find a live version of Dragonforce playing this song and they do the solos. And it sounds good
Herman Lee said if you want to play as fast as him, lock yourself in a room for 10 years and never come out.
Watch another Dragonforce song, but with Don.😊
You: Are all their songs this fast?
Me: ... Yes...
ANGUS MCFIFE by GLORYHAMMER!!!
Check out TheDooo he impressed Herman Li
You need to play guitar hero! Hardest setting!
4:26 Black Pegasus encounters the urge to mosh.
I loved how you checked at the beginning to make sure the video was playing at the right speed.
Guitar playing has really evolved
They call their style "extreme heavy metal". They are also the fastest band in the world. Their song "The Game" is their fastest at 240 BPM and features frontman Matt Heafy as a guest vocalist. My google-fu is strong ... LOL
Herman Li is a guitar titan. The man is a legend. Super cool and down to earth too.
Dude... when I completed this song on Guitar Hero in EASY mode I still remember the PRIDE I felt!!
I love that he had to check the playback speed of the video lmfao
"Are all their songs this fast?" - Pretty much, yeah. That's kind of their whole "thing."
"This is like some Dungeons and Dragons Rock" - Welcome to the Power Metal Genre.
now if ihe wouldve done the album version which is 7 minutes where the solo is longer his mind wouldve been broken
Of course. This is POWER Metal. It's emboldening, empowering. It can reach deep into your soul and help you discover a strength you were completely unaware of.
Also, Dragonforce has more and even better songs you should check out like My Spirit Wil Go on, Fury of the Storm, The Last Journey Home, The Warrior Inside, Operation Ground and Pound.
funny I'm not a huge rap fan but YEARS ago tech nine played at rockfest & it was pretty fire 🔥🔥 , gotta rep KCMO
& speaking of soundtracks....check pretty much any song by EPICA, sooo many could be in a movie, i actually want "the fifth guardian" by them played at my funeral lol
30 seconds in and I just know it will be fire because Dragonforce is fire 😂
Tech N9ne Album absolute power” is one of my favorites
Sometime when you have time listen to some
“Bus driver” if you haven’t…not a reaction request
Just in your spare time ..listen to his lyrics
“Bus driver” sounds like tech but with complex
Lyrics
If you want something similar, but with 75% more Dungeons and Dragons, check out GLORYHAMMER
Guitar hero! Brings back memories
If you want to try VIKING modern rock try the song Valhallelujah by nanowaR of steel. It will BLOW your mind!!!!!!😊
You: "you cannot tell me they weren't inspired by..."
Me: "...space invaders!" :D
Yoga Flame indeed^^
Hey trust me..when you look..you finde some more best groups....Dragonforce is an inside Group....it giving so much HArd Bands
Carpal Tunnel City 😂
Edit: Also check out Herman Li's (lead guitarist) twitch channel. He streams all the time, and he's a super cool guy.
Is fun to see people react to this song. But also, for the sake of shock and awe, we overlook how great artist are in their entirety. Check the full song:)
Also, if you’d like, dive in in a reaction or personal time to Valley of the Damned album…. It’s fucking epic.
Black pegasus if you loved this please check out their other banger of songer "operation ground and pound" it's an absolute smash IMO...
Fun fact, soooooo many people tried this song on guitar hero it's unreal to watch them try 100%.. That'd be a fun react to side note this song..
Keep up the awesome work, love the reactions ✌️
PLease React to "GHOST LOVE SCORE" by Nighwish. The Live version by Floor Jansen
If you want more Lord of the Rings-esque music... Rhapsody of Fire - Sacred Power of Raging Winds which hate narration by the legend Christopher Lee
You want fast metal with Tech N9ne inspiration? Check out ARCHSPIRE - "Golden Mouth of Ruin"
Their most popular album is Twilight of the Thunder God, with the most popular songs from that one being the title track and Guardians of Asgaard
Another route that "viking" music sometimes goes down is the route of Heilung, who are a group that create their own instruments and construct songs based on ancient poetry and texts, sometimes in dead languages that they have to reconstruct.
One of the last notes you hear on the guitar is Herman breaking a string but it sounded so cool they left it in...Epic...Herman and Sam are Amazing guitarists, but the whole band are Absolute Monsters...
