I always loved Slash's part playing outside a beautiful church, what a great scene the way they shot it. I love this song but never read the book it's based on, and I was always puzzled if he had anything to do with her death, cause they show a scene with him passing by a gun store and him having nightmares, I guess I need to read the book. Great reaction as always, love your channel.
This song/video was Axl Rose’s masterpiece. Axl has always been a diva and perfectionist in regards to his art/music. My belief is that his pursuit of the level of perfection found in this song is what delayed Chinese Democracy and ultimately led to the collapse of the band. We were robbed of 2 decades or more of GnR.
Guns n Roses was so huge that Sweet Child O Mine was a top 3 finalist for my senior prom song a full decade after it was released. While we all enjoy the good times everything can change in an instant but even the lowest of lows won't last no matter how much it may feel that way. November Rain, Candle in the Wind same idea different angles.
The ads at the end of the video are covering up "Based on the short story 'Without You' by Del James" . And yes, they did play this song on the radio --- every minute of it. I don't listen to the radio anymore, but I am sure the rock stations still play it, the entire song. 'November Rain' is part of a GnR trilogy....the other two songs are 'Don't Cry' and 'Estranged' (my absolute favorite GnR song). Hope you react to those one day!
I was invited to be an extra in the audience at the Orpheum Theatre i lived in Hollywood back then my friend worked for the director of the video it was an amazing experience 💜
Yes, they are an 80s band. This is from a trilogy. Don’t Cry, November Rain and Estranged. I love all 3 songs and videos. Back in the day, when the video Estranged was made, it was THE MOST EXPENSIVE video ever. It was like $1 million just to make it with all the technology and all. Back then, the video was really just so ground breaking and amazing to watch. I’d have to say of the 3, it’s my favorite song. Again, all 3 songs are just AWESOME! And YES 🙌🏽 they played these songs on the radio. There are some long songs they always play on the radio, like Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, Lynard Skynard’s Free Bird, etc. Definitely check out the other 2 songs. There’s sooo many GNR songs- You Could be mine, Sweet Child O Mine, Civil War, I used to love her, etc. Actually, their album Appetite for Destruction is probably one of the best album. That was a great reaction ❤
Sir! We are the same age! When you ask where did they play this, the answer is ALL OVER MTV and yes, all over the radio to[o... rock stations still play it. Fun reaction 😊

I haven't seen this video in like 20 years. "Live and let die" is actually a Beatles song. But since you haven't listened to "Patience" I definitely recommend that next.
I just wanna let you know, Live and let Die is a Paul McCartney song, great song nonetheless. I believe it was used in one of the James Bond movies. Much love
I saw them in concert at BC Place in Vancouver, and yes the orchestra was with them as well as the same conductor… it was incredible - there were guys in the audience that were crying. i’ve seen many bands over my 58 years - the best ever live is Guns and Roses, U2, AC/DC, RUSH… as well as a handful of others. There will NEVER be this kind of talent again… EVER - the 70s/80s/90s bands… the crap that comes out nowadays will never match the talent from those years… I was very blessed to have grown up though those years… music from those decades will be forever timeless ❤️🎶
I watch this video all the time. I was part of that whole Sunset Strip back in the late 80's, early 90's. Slash lived up the street from me on Kirkwood in Laurel Canyon (IYKYK 😉) once they hit. I'd see him walking up and down the hill sometimes just him, and at night LOTS of them. Thanks for committing to this very cool video. Always a pleasure. Stacie from Boston
Saw them twice, at the start of Use Your Illusion tour and at the end, both gigs very different but both amazing. Slash stood on the piano playing this was epic 🫶 His voice sounds like a guitar. I swore I was going to get married in a dress like that…… alas just didn’t have the legs for it. This was at the peek of their videos ❤️ thanks for doing this xx
I love this song! Axel’s voice and the music are haunting. Still get goosebumps after all these years! I was In high school when their first album came out and it was literally life changing!
Since we're talking about hits you've heard of from Guns 'n Roses, there were 7, MAJOR, amazing albums that came out within 44 days of each other in 1991: Metallica, Metallica (the whole d*mn thing is worth a listen) Pearl Jam, Ten (again... the whole album is worth a listen) Guns N’ Roses, Use Your Illusion I (Live and Let Die / November Rain) Guns N’ Roses, Use Your Illusion II (Knockin' on Heaven's Door / Civil War / You Could Be Mine from Terminator 2... so many more) Red Hot Chili Peppers, Blood Sugar Sex Magik (Give it Away / Suck My Kiss / Under the Bridge... great album) Soundgarden, Badmotorfinger (the whole album is amazing... the top track is probably Outshined) Nirvana, Nevermind (need I say anything?) It was a great time to be alive for music.
Guns is still that band. Rumor has it that the wedding was real, as Axl was dating the model (Stephanie Seymour, who was one of the biggest Victoria's Secret models ever) playing the bride at the time (a surprise wedding for the bride) . She threw a fit and they played it off as "just a video".
I remember blasting this nearly everyday whenever MTV would show this video, and joining in with an air guitar during Slash’s EPIC solo! 😅 The song came out in the second half of my 6th grade year. (February 1992) Still a favorite! ❤
Axl's masterpiece. He had it written when the first album came out. But held off for the double albums in 91. Other songs to do: estranged (my fav), civil war, dont cry, rocket queen. Seems you know their biggest hits off the first album

Agree, at least that called itself a "video". As mentioned below the original theatric Thriller might outplay it. Obviously other long format music films exist, in the form of theatrical musicals.
*The meaning of the video is this:* It's a recurring nightmare Axl is having that he'll be the 'death' of any quality woman he brings into his life. He knows he's a toxic trainwreck who's out of control. He fears exposing a respectable lady to his chaotic lifestyle. That's why it doesn't show what killed her. It's still a dream, remember? You turn around one second later and something catastrophic has happened. Things are rarely explained in dreams. You just have to go with it. All that really matters here is that Axl is convinced he will be her ruin no matter what. His ultimate moment of happiness (marriage) can only be the beginning of her end because she's hitching herself to him, and his endless insanity. It's his ultimate fear come to fruition.
@16:19, 😢 they finally take the leap only for her to pass on their wedding day, why he's having night-terrors and taking stuff to even go to sleep, but to understand it better bc this is the middle song of the trilogy starting with "Don't Cry", "November Rain" ending with "Estranged"...but at the part your talking about he says "don't you think that you need somebody, don't you think that you need someone, everybody needs somebody, you're not the only one"..😢
This is actually a trilogy. There’s a story behind it. He cheated on her and she killed herself over it. Now he is carrying the guilt. So he rebuilds his life trying to be a better person.
I am 45 and grew up listening to them... Lordy I loved Axl lol.... that being said I haven't heard the song in a few years till now but could still sing every word and it brought a smile to my face :) Thanks for the reaction!!
Third comment on this video🤣.. my favorite story about Slash from those days is they were playing a show and his cigarette fell down his leather pants, and due to highness or dedication to his craft, just kept on playing like nothing happens while getting burnt by a lit cigarette in his pants
The trilogy in order is "Don't Cry" , "November Rain" and "Estranged". Knocking On Heaven's Door is a cover of a Bob Dylan song and is not part of the trilogy.

He should react to Patients.....one of my favorites!!!!
@@DSJ1967 not sure he'd get to the correct song with that spelling 🤣🤣
Patience*
Fricken one of the best rock songs ever. Two Slash guitar solo. I live for that finale. Best ever!
Classic 80s/90sGnR is nothing but bangers.
Facts
During the 80's a thing major bands did was release a power ballad. Guns & Roses did "November Rain" was one of their biggest hits
He is saying “don’t you think that you need somebody don’t you think that you need someone you’re not the only one.”
So when he's singing that, he's actually talking to himself about himself? Wow! I just realized what a sensitive singer-songwriter he was.
Headphones would of helped.
Also the last line the bvgs are saying everybody needs somebody
@@RAW2881 yup and as long as it is a somebody that is positive and doesn’t want you down then yes everybody needs someone (this doesn’t necessarily mean romantic but any relationship that is good vibes)! It shouldn’t mean you lose yourself into that person no matter who it is! Toxic people are never a good option I’d rather be solo than to deal with negative vibes! Good vibes only in the Parker 🏠!!! 😇
@@stephanieparker9494 Absolutely 💯%
The hype around this video was insane when it was released. They didn't debut it on MTV, they had a 30 minute prime time spot on Fox to debut this video.
Love me some Guns N Roses!! They will forever be timeless! This is definitely something u should just throw on at the crib! I love that u know a lot of their songs!!
Maybe the best reaction you’ve had. I laughed my ass off. “ yea baby we can make it “. Then. “What theeee f “. Loved it.
I met Slash and played tennis against him when he visited Kenya on his honeymoon in the early 1990’s. A really nice bloke, very down to earth.
Great memory!
I've met him twice and like you say real nice & very humble. Very laid back & chill.
He's definitely one of the nicest rockers I've ever met. Totally cool.
who won?
@@sickturret3587 let’s just say he was a guest of the club, paired with the strongest player…… but the triple vodkas on the house lifted most peoples spirits lol
You have not truly felt a Guns N Roses song till you've heard Civil War it's a must.
An absolute must!

Yes yes yes epic song
“Take me down to the very last city” 😏
Right song. Now that you know the title, just give the lyrics a rethink 😁
Axel’s voice at its heyday was just awesome!
I’ve seen this video a few hundred times and never did I notice the mirror with her in the coffin, explaining the sudden death by suicide. They do this to hide the damage done at the entry/exit point. That’s amazing work. Great reaction.
One of the best video's ever made.
I agree with you to an extent..for me personally Estranged is Axls/the bands greatest masterpiece but...both amazingly written pieces
Waiting for the premiere of this, love for you to do more G-N-R. They have been given credit for saving Rock back in 85 with welcome to the jungle.
Never pause a roses solo it's criminal 😊
This song is my favorite! It gives me chills and probably one of the best musically written pieces
Unbelievable what a iconic band ❤where are the icons today
I could see Ren being an Icon
I seen GNR back in Sept 23. They are still touring.
Obviously, Axl sounds like crap on anything but old songs but Slash still rocks it
The ads at the end of the video are covering up "Based on the short story 'Without You' by Del James" .
Cool😊
That's amazing!! What a great experience!
Civil War is a definite banger and with a message that is still relevant to today
Slash is a Brit; He's the UK's gift to you ~ You're very welcome! 🤭 Great reaction. Lots of Love from the UK 💜 -x-
Only for 5 years. he's American for the other 53. and thank you. lol. Cuz I love all 58 years of him.
I got the privilege and honor to meet Slash over 10 years ago at the Kentucky Derby. Slash is an amazing person and loves talking to military members. Slash actually does wear his signature top hat in public...you cannot miss seeing him walking through a crowd
💖💖💖💖💖 "Patience" (my fav song) and their version of "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" are awesome.
Love Guns N' Roses and this is by far my favorite!!
This is such an amazing song!!!! But my favorite song is "Patience". They are my second favorite band of all time. And being from Cincinnati, I hear "Welcome to the jungle" all throughout Bengals season!!! BTW, I really like your new content. I saw the preview, can't wait to see the full video!!!
Thanks!
much love Rose!
Much love
Patience is amazing
Its a Paul McCartney & Wings song , the band he formed after the Beatles.
@@rogerdaly6326 yes I'm aware. I just meant it was Paul's solo project after The Beatles.
@@jonathan492The 007 movie is the same name. Live and let die.
That’s pretty cool 😎
This is their most popular video not their most popular song. "Sweet Child O Mine" was their biggest hit
I was rather fond of their song “I used to love her but I had to kill her”
@@laurabailey1054 *Motley Crue* - _All I Need_ is the most epic song about killing a girlfriend.
Saw them twice, at the start of Use Your Illusion tour and at the end, both gigs very different but both amazing. Slash stood on the piano playing this was epic 🫶
His voice sounds like a guitar.
Since we're talking about hits you've heard of from Guns 'n Roses, there were 7, MAJOR, amazing albums that came out within 44 days of each other in 1991:
Metallica, Metallica (the whole d*mn thing is worth a listen)
Pearl Jam, Ten (again... the whole album is worth a listen)
Guns N’ Roses, Use Your Illusion I (Live and Let Die / November Rain)
Guns N’ Roses, Use Your Illusion II (Knockin' on Heaven's Door / Civil War / You Could Be Mine from Terminator 2... so many more)
Red Hot Chili Peppers, Blood Sugar Sex Magik (Give it Away / Suck My Kiss / Under the Bridge... great album)
Soundgarden, Badmotorfinger (the whole album is amazing... the top track is probably Outshined)
Nirvana, Nevermind (need I say anything?)
It was a great time to be alive for music.
It really was.
Lordy. I'm 54 and this shit came out when I was a teen. I've seen GNR maybe 3 yrs or so ago in concert. Well done young man.
The song came out in the second half of my 6th grade year. (February 1992)
Still a favorite! ❤
Axl's masterpiece. He had it written when the first album came out. But held off for the double albums in 91.
Other songs to do: estranged (my fav), civil war, dont cry, rocket queen.
Seems you know their biggest hits off the first album
One of the most iconic music videos of all time and also one of the best songs ever written in my humble opinion.
You got to love everything Guns N Roses
13:35 -- it's a blink and you miss it.. But the mirror in the coffin is used to give the deceased the illusion of having their whole face....
This video dropped about a week after my wife’s funeral, and it was all over the place for the first half year without her.
ugh this song this video is everything!!! brings me back to my childhood and remembering watching this for the first time and how mesmerized i was and still am!!! that solo by slash hands down one of the best!!!! i feel ya bro that ending still messes with me lbvs!!!
Guns and Roses became famous in the 80's and where still around in the 90's !
The guitar playing in this is the most epic I have ever heard love love love it what a massive song ❤🏴
“Patience” is phenomenal
Love Love Love Love Guns N' Roses and this song is one of my favs!! Thank you BP!
It came out in 1992THANK'S HAVEN'T seen THIS VIDEO for a long time!!!!!!! 1 of my FAVORITE song's by them❤
My Daughter used to love this when she was a toddler , it was also her daddy’s favourite song , he had it at his funeral, he died when she was just 5 , she now has the words on her forearm November Rain , in memory of her daddy.
Slash can make his guitar sing, it's amazing. salute BP!
Dude I’m having a blast with your reactions😂 GnR ROCKED especially in the 90’s. Use your Illusions 1 & 2 are EPIC!!! This vid topped the charts on Much Music for like 10+weeks.
Thriller was and will always be the biggest music video "movie"
Was going to say Michael Jackson’s many videos were long but Thriller especially
Agree, at least that called itself a "video". As mentioned below the original theatric Thriller might outplay it. Obviously other long format music films exist, in the form of theatrical musicals.
GNR…. What can you say! Legendary. They are great in concert.
*The meaning of the video is this:*
It's a recurring nightmare Axl is having that he'll be the 'death' of any quality woman he brings into his life.
It's his ultimate fear come to fruition.
well said
Wow! I didn't realize until now how heightened self-awareness Axl had as a songwriter.
Thank you so much for explaining it. I was never sure if he was dreaming or not
Thank you! Saved me from having to look it up. 😊
Pay more attention to how miserable she looks then at the use of the mirror in the coffin to hide the fact she shot herself in the head….
Love this journey exploring old music!!!! Thanks for the content. Enjoy all you do
Axel collaboration with Elton John is worth checking out
Very good, Queen, Elton and axel
That was his wife in real life. When you said that kiss wasn't fake I just 😂
I did them same...they weren't acting 😂
They never married ,she was his girlfriend after his marriage to Erin ended
Third comment on this video🤣.. my favorite story about Slash from those days is they were playing a show and his cigarette fell down his leather pants, and due to highness or dedication to his craft, just kept on playing like nothing happens while getting burnt by a lit cigarette in his pants
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥YOU HAVE TO WATCH PATIENCE!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I love Guns and Roses 🌹 I am so excited to hear this song
This song is part ofva trilogy, dont cry an knocking on heavens soor
The trilogy in order is "Don't Cry" , "November Rain" and "Estranged". Knocking On Heaven's Door is a cover of a Bob Dylan song and is not part of the trilogy.
I never knew that. Don't cry is fire and estranged is so underrated. that's a trilogy worth a reaction.
@@rogerdaly6326 your right, I was listening to knocking on heavens door when I posted, lol, estranged is extremely under rated

you were 12 and never saw that video? REALLY..?
Finally!!!! I've been waiting for you to react to this!!!
Guns & Roses 🌹 was the biggest Rock band when this song came out. This video was in heavy rotation on MTV & radio in spite of the length. I think it was the 1 st really rock opera since Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody when it came out. I don't think radio would play a song this long these days but this song is still epic. Oh & you were right that 💋 was very much real. Axel was dating the then top Victoria Secret model Stephanie Seymour which just added to the over the top epic feel of the video for me.
I live your reactions❤ Guns and Roses, yesss❤❤❤
Slash is Nasty on that guitar!!! I absolutely love this song❤..
I love that transition at the end. The music.
