Hey! I know this is old but... you need to start doing controls in your testing for accuracy. Like this tool you should add a 10 lb weight on the end and you can use the same weight with the other tool to compare. For the drilling you can get a dumbbell and place it on top. stuff like this just makes way more sense because you can not be 100% accurate in testing and comparison when working with muscle memory

Yeah...I can't say I've ever had an urge to get overcharged for DeWalt FlexVolt batteries to use them on my Ryobi tools. HP batteries are spendy enough and they work great.

I always wondered if the adapters increased resistance and reduced overall power but I'm glad to see they don't. Been a while since some good content has came out. Nice to see somethings good
Just have to watch out for tools that have safety features that require communicating with the battery... Adapter with a different brand battery won't work that way. So risks damaging either the battery or the tool if the safety features never kick in to prevent it and you don't keep track of things like over draining the battery, over heating, etc.

Nice video it would. E awesome if you tested the ridgid octane versus the ryobi or Hili or dewalt. I know lots of people like the ridgid and I was wanting to see what a good stress test would do to it. Thank you for posting all these videos and hopefully you will be able to do more for the coming years

that's a surprise well done Ryobi. I do like the design of the Dewalt better with the movable foot when pivoting. very nice review of both plus adaptor. but would be going into a tool range based on this tool as I think the Dewalt is just better, but stick to what you have got i guess. or if its you just buy everything haha. you will definitely be on my trusted tool guy reviews now as i have just got rid of one by saying the flex volt could short out your tools (which is impossible by design)
I agree, this is the atomic, if Dewalt made an XR it might do better
I am not a fan of the atomic line but have several Dewalt XR tools, some power detect and they work well.
Power detect is a darn good tool

Wow, this is going to be very interesting. I do hope DeWalt can make a larger hackzall like milwaukee m18. I do have the milwaukee hackzall and it awesome.
I use both brand so I'm happy either way. I differently going to buy those battery adapters so i can use both battery brands on my tools.

Yes, i agree on the size of the DeWalt 20v atomic and 12v hackzall. The smaller frame does have it's purpose for tight spaces.
Again, i hope DeWalt comes out with a larger size and more power like the milwaukee m18 hackzall or like the Ryobi.
That 12v chain saw was pretty cool. Amazing how fast it cut.

I'm a Ryobi fanboy from way back. I have the Ryobi blue series 18" Mini Lathe and blue series 6" planer and blue series 12" Portable Bench Planer, blue series 12" table top laser Drill Press amongst other blue series tools and that's how far back I go. And I bought a Dewalt yellow and black 18v drill driver instead of the blue series Ryobi drill drivers because of looks. But now . . . . . . . ? Ryobi lime green tools are strikingly beautiful besides being powerful work horses and I am proud and unashamed Ryobi fanboy to use their tools for my home diy projects.
Ryobi tools are powerful, are they the best? No, but they are still worth buying and will get the job done
Comparing tools using a battery adapter is a cool idea! Thank you for sharing these great tests. While more powerful tools work faster, they have proportionally more weight and vibration, which wears out the user faster. I see the difference between these being one of convenience, not exactly performance.
I assume the reason the DeWalt is popular despite being slow is because the people who need more performance (and can handle the beating on their body) will use a much larger saw than either of these. Keep up the good work!

Do you think it's worth switching in terms of power & cutting time from the atomic to this Ryobi? Mind you i do not have that beefy 60v battery i just have regular 5ah batteries from Dewalt, not sure how much of a difference there is with power. So Atomic w/regular 5ah battery VS Ryobi w/6ah HP battery. Is it worth switching?

people need to give ryobi more credit then what they get
_All_ new recip saw shoes should be depth adjustable. There's no excuse. An adjustable shoes makes a big difference when having to cut near critical things like plumbing and electrical. Given that these one-handed saws are specifically designed for those hard-to-reach places, they should definitely be adjustable.

I am a long time Dewalt user an recent switched over to milwaukee because porter cable an milwaukee were my old man's favorite.an I was getting able to afford it.then I find out ryobi is owned an made by the same company that owns rigid an milwaukee an shares everything except batteries because of rybobi never changing there power connect in 25 years an for good reason..they claim to make the everyman tool for everyman price so they said they would never switch platforms so u need to get all new power packs that's why u can still put a new ryobi batt in a 25 year old drill an use it

Hey i had a question i recently purchased the same tool, yet it sounds like something is loose inside the tool does yours make a noise if you shake it side to side. Thought mine was defective, shook the hd display and it does the same any insight on this?

Tim from Canada why is it Ryobi is the handyman tool with the pro tool price for example in Canada all Ryobi tools have gone up at least $50 or more since COVID-19 hit... it is very hard to find a very good tool by RYOBI Brand at the Home Depot for a reasonable price I have found that the Ryobi tool supposed to be for the handyman is now got the pro man price I can tell you for example. .. before COVID-19 you could go to Home Depot in Canada and buy Ryobi 4 tool combo that come with 1reciprocating saw ,1half-inch hammer drill,1. 1/4 impact driver..1 light 1 charger 1 .2Ah battery..1...4Ah battery the price before COVID-19 was $199 Canadian...Now..after cOVID-19 is $279 Canadian.. this is a hell of a jump in price at the Home Depot in Canada for Ryobi tools. But I see in the Americans website Home Depot your tools are very cheap priced then they are in Canada. No matter what you buy in Canada everything is overpriced and cheaply made.

As an all time Ryobi fan I can atest to the prowess of the HP tool line, but it does come at a premium price. I'm worried that trend might continue and eventually Ryobi will stop being the go-to for budget DIYers.
Ryobi tools are not cheap any more. these prices are here to stay and probably rise in the future
You should try plunge cutting with these Sawzalls if you don't know what that is lmk

DeWalt makes solid, smooth, but notoriously slow, Recip saws. And why they still do not put a rafter hook, or adjustable depth shoe, on their top of the line saws, is ridiculous. This Atomic Is obviously designed to be lighter in weight, and so I kinda understand no rafter hook, but come on DeWalt, at least throw on an adjustable shoe? The Ryobi clearly outperformed it. I was glad to see you checking the temps, as other channels have reported extremely high operating temperatures, and overheating issues?
No issues yet on these tools. I always show if a tools fries out
If the stroke is too short, it will need to be capable of 15_20% more strokes per minute.
However, after watching the video, I'm glad to be vested in the Ryobi battery platform.

Just to let you know battery chargers dont always charge allv the way it varies quite a bit. I built all of my own batteries for my makita tools so i have done alot of testing

sounds good I have a suggestion for an impact wrench review recently I purchased a greenworks 24v impact wrench from amazon when they were running a great deal i paid $52 for the impact wrench and $67 for a chainsaw with battery and charger the only reason i purchased the chainsaw was to get the battery and charger for the impact but it turns out the chainsaw is pretty good for its size but the impact wrench is really small I would compare it in size to the makita low range impact that you just did a video on but the greenworks impact wrench has far more torque it is rated at 540 ft lbs I took it to my buddy's shop where he has a 3/4 inch torque wrench that goes up to 600 ft lbs and we torqued down some semi lug nuts to 500 ft lbs and this little impact popped them loose I was super surprised I tried my milwaukee mid torque on them which is way bigger than the greenworks and the milwaukee wouldn't budge them

I wish the Dewalt saw had the same blade install as the Ryobi. The chuck/blade insert thing on the Dewalt eventually wore out and was hard to change out blades. I do have an adapter to run Ryobi tools on Dewalt batteries. Might give this Ryobi a go

Judging by the smoke, I'd say you need sharper blades.
ryobi needs 64sec to cut a piece of wood 4"×6"...
however, the same tool, with the same blade (lightly more worn)
with the same battery (lightly more weakened), to cut the exact same piece of wood plus 3 metal nails, it needs only 54sec...

Don’t understand how they cut faster with the nails in the wood vs without nails. You must have pushed harder that would explain the extra smoke from the wood I guess.

Atomic line has the same power of the 12v xtreme without any of the practicality.
You use the same 20volt batteries as the rest of the tools. Lightweight tool without starting a new battery line.
