    I had damn near the same GCSEs as you and I got into UCL for medicine. 5A*s 2As and 4Bs, and for medicine that’s considered average (for any other course they would be considered competitive)

    Something so annoying that’s happened to me is that all my gcse results are high either 8s 9s or 7s but the only issue is that for maths I got a 5 on foundation paper , which if u do foundation paper u will know u really need to get a high percentile for that , it’s really annoying bc I had the capability of doing the higher paper ,but the maths faculty in my school was struggling with staff ect and so my requests to move onto higher no matter how much I begged were pushed aside 😭 now I need to apply for medicine and that’s my only problem 😢 idk what I’m going to do if your reading this and it’s September 2025 like so that I can update ❤

    for my GCSES, i got six grade 7's, one grade 8, one grade six and two grade 5's. i have triple 7's in science, 7/7 in english lit/lang and a 6 in maths. i need to appeal a 5 in computing but i don't think that's important.
    i mean, they aren't bad but i don't know if it's good enough or not. sure, i may meet the minimum needed grades but i'll try to do a lot of extracurriculars and do well at a levels.

      Hey, your GCSEs are great and you meet the minimums which is all that matters! Avoid applying to GCSE heavy unis like Birmingham and instead apply to places that don’t look at your GCSEs as much (e.g. Plymouth, Sunderland). I don’t think you need to resist Maths personally :) x

    I got a 9,8,8,8,7,6,6 and then I am planning to retake maths and physics which I got (6 and a 5) in November.I am hoping that I get 7+ when I retake those subjects
    I want to retake matsh as I am doing it for alevels and so it’s killing two birds with one stone. Physics I just did really bad in one exam out of 3 due to health reasons
    I am kind of scared I don’t really know how to go about work experience and stuff like that.idk if my gsce are low I always see ppl wiht all 8/9s so can be demotivating when u know u got a 5 or low grades

    • @ChristinaAaliyah
      @ChristinaAaliyah  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those are really good grades Israa, especially considering your health reasons, well done ❤️ Depending on where you apply, some medical schools don’t mind if you have a 6 in Maths.
      There are plenty of applicants with high grades but the majority have a mix of 9/8/7/6 and even 5s, so don’t be disheartened ❤️ Plus so many schemes/foundation medicine courses are aimed at people with lower grades so people can apply to those of they don’t have the grades for normal medicine xx

I've got all the grades down its just the 6,5 in science im stressed about because it doesn't meet requirements but im hoping they do let me off

      @ChristinaAaliyah  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, I’ve just had a look and on their website it does say you need a minimum of 6,6 so I don’t think they would accept 6,5 :( It’s a competitive course so they probably only accept people who meet the requirements.
      But you could email them to double check to see if they would, or have a look on the student room to see if anyone got in with 6,5 x

      @ChristinaAaliyah  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yea you definitely can! You’ve got 7s in science and a 6 in English which most med schools ask for. The other grades don’t matter as much unless you apply to somewhere that uses points and counts all your GCSEs

      I’ve had a look online and it says:
      ‘There are no set entry requirements to become a healthcare assistant. Employers expect good literacy and numeracy and may ask for GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and maths. They may ask for a healthcare qualification, such as BTEC or NVQ.’
      You can read more here www.healthcareers.nhs.uk/explore-roles/healthcare-support-worker/roles-healthcare-support-worker/healthcare-assistant

      Hey Surfoodeen, Newcastle hasn’t listed any GCSEs on their website and I think a few others don’t use GCSEs too, you can have a look here to see which dentistry schools will accept your grades ❤️ www.medicmind.co.uk/dental-school-comparison-tool/
