So after you finished your foundation year, you then start "medicine" and after you got the degree in Medicine, you can become a doctor? gp? what can you be?
I got AAAB at AS and applied for 1 foundation at King's and 3 other 5 year courses... I mainly applied for the foundation course because we were told that it would be good in helping prepare you for medicine- particularly with essay writing. The essay writing practise, for the most part, was the reason I applied and now I wish I would have applied for the 5 year course... Oh well...
***** As long as you went to a non-selective state school from year 7, or meet a different criteria for eligibility, you should be fine. Congratulations on your results also :) . For the A100 course at least, I think you need 3 A-Levels and an AS at grade B. I have some friends who didn't achieve that, but are still applying as they're doing an EPQ to act as a substitute for the AS. In short, I think you may need to do something else to compensate for having 3 rather than 4, but it'd be better to contact the university as I may be incorrect.
Rahhh I only got a C in English language...I'm doomed aren't I? I got my B for maths and A's in all my sciences tho (B for physics but that's calm) 😭😭😭 hated English language ngl
can you still do med (for a decent uni like Southampton) with grades of around Cs and Bs but smash your a levels with like A*AA, is that still sufficient, as in would i be at a major disadvantage.
you probably dont care but if you're stoned like me atm you can watch pretty much all the new series on instaflixxer. Have been streaming with my brother these days :)
Other than grades what else did you put on your CV? I've heard work experience is good for anything medical. Are there any other things worth doing to increase chances?
Hi Ryhan, love your videos! I have a question about your university. I called there asking about a medicine foundation year, and they said they have no courses even related to medicine. How did you get into that university?
Hi, I'm doing Chemistry, Psychology, Business Studies and Sociology. I'm in my AS year and intend to drop Sociology. Would I be able to do Medicine with a foundation year with just Chemistry?
Yeah deffo! I’m planning on doing the same with Plymouth, Bristol, Leicester, and Bradford clinical sciences. There’s places like Exeter and that but you wanna check with what the unis wanna see .i.e. national extended diploma, btec with alevel combos, and whatever else. Hope this helped!
So, if you take foundation year does that put you at a disadvantage? I'm really confused. So if I don't get amazing grades at a level, I can still become a Doctor? Will you leave with the same qualification as someone with standard entry?
Ross Geller it doesn't put u at a disadvantage. It's just an extra year to brush up on important details before actually doing ur med degree so u do finish with the same qualification as when u go into direct entry. (So yh u don't need amazing grades at a level). It's mainly for ppl who come from disadvantaged backgrounds ie. low family income/ underachieving skl/ u live in a poor place. Or if u took the wrong a levels. Different uni's have different requirements so you have to research each one that offers foundation med
What's the difference between AS and A2? Plus I thought you had an A* in economics and an A in biology and B in Chemistry You didn't have to do foundation year?
I scored less in UKCAT and haven't done my final exams yet.....with the help of my final exam scores do I still have a chance to get into kings? I need the answer!?!?!?!?
@@coffindance6807 Plymouth, Bristol, Exeter (with alevel combo), Bradford (clinical sciences for one year and then you can transfer to med after passing), Hull and York, Keele, Southampton, and mostly all med schools but do research on everything since they will ask for certain types of btec like the national diploma and whatnot.
Say if you do foundation year at Nottingham Uni for medicine, when you're finished with it are you guaranteed a place at the same uni for first year of medicine or??
i do a level economics, it's basically curves, shift in curves, the factors and we have to do stuff like income elasticity of demand where were work out percentage change, it's an interesting topic tho and yh as long as you have bio and chem you should be just fine.
Can you still apply for a foundation year if you missed the deadline? Does anyone know any universities that accept humanities subjects, apart from University of Manchester?
Hey there I’m an international student studying mba I want to change my career and get into medicine! Can you please suggest me how can I get into because I’m from business stream and not science! Can I apply for foundation course and get into med?
Thanks for so much information...💯 I came from Pakistan and here I'm doing BTEC level 2 with English and Maths GCSE. Shall I progress onto A-levels or BTEC level 3. My college can offer me A-levels. I think A-levels are best because I want to get into medicine and good unis don't accept btec level 3 science. The other thing is that I don't have any GCSEs except my maths and English.... will this effect my uni admission?
Definitely take A levels. It expands the universities you can apply to. Also consider retaking your GCSE as a private candidate or only applying to universities that don't emphasize GCSE's
@@آيزا-م2ح JazakAllah for you help much appreciated....💯 Unfortunately I'm going for BTEC level 3 because my college has denied about accepting us BTEC Level 2 students in A-levels. So hoping for the best after that... looking to do foundation year May be.

Not really because he got in with lower predicted grades otherwise he wouldn't have been able to get into the 5 year course immediately with his predicted grades; in the UK at least. So foundation year allows u to get in with grades lower than the minimum requirement in a 5 year medicine course. Worth the £9000.
A video about what to say for medical school interviews
+Shaai Kamaha cool I'll try that next
Ryhan Hussain one piece is awesome
Thank you, bro. Always wanted to know what to expect in the foundation year. Now I know, as I get ready for 2017!

Just to correct something... Kings college entry requirements for the foundation year are ABB and not BBB anymore :')

Ryhan Hussain ikr😭😭😭
Ryhan Hussain theyr way too high now
Can I have an equivalent to ABB like Distinctions? I’m doing btec level 3 science

what about grad entry to medicine, i am thinkin about doin biomed and then med. is this feasible, also i heard u cant get loanns fr second degree
