  • Ever since their Quimera roller coaster derailed in 2019, costing the lives of two people. The park has remained closed ever since, with most of the rides being sold and moved off site. The only ride that remains is Montaña Rusa, an old classic wooden roller coaster with a mobius layout. Join us as we walk around the property to see what we can find!

As someone who has lived his entire live in Mexico City, La Feria de Chapultepec, was an iconic place that was semi popular, since Six Flags bought Reino Aventura and converted it, a lot of people stoped going to Chapultepec, the only reason in didn't closed it was because of two things, it was supported by the government and in 2018 it made a deal whit Sesame Street to remodel the park to it's image but keep it mostly intact.
It felt like even if it wasn't going to be as popular as Six Flags it could have the chance to be a more affordable and family centered place so it would have it audience, but the
maintenance of the place was poorly done to not be vulgar, to save as much money as possible, even inviting a really big youtuber called "Berth-OH" to visit the park and show how much "care" they were putting in the park (If you want to see how the park looked like I would recommend watch his video), they also hosted events to other youtubers like Maire Wink wich married a cake in the park (Yes like it sounds), not even 2 months after the accident happened.
The accident was caused for poor maintenance and putting too many cars in the attraction when a similar accident had already happened in Canada with the same coaster model, the wheels of the cars broke and it started flying while still attached to the cars in front until it hitted a pole, it was really tragic and disturbing to think about because one week before this happened I went to a job interview and the manager never showed in the 3 times I went, so it was really abandoned by the one managing the park, it's even sadder because it went from this hope that the park could find its audience to it closing forever.

Great video. Fun fact, in this park an episode was filmed of the Belgian 'game' show called 'De Mol'. Contestant had to do several challenges in the rides. Including on Chimera. Was kind of cool

Based on this footage alone you could've said the park had been abandoned since the 90's and I would've believed you. Insane to think this place was open just 2 1/2 years ago! Goes to show just how quickly the Earth can reclaim untouched land.

Taylor getting the permission to be let in to the overgrown and rusty Six Flags New Orleans would be the cherry on top the shake of him exploring abandoned amusement parks. If only security was not so strict on that property…

Jake Williams from Bright Sun Films has an entire documentary movie on the history of Six Flags New Orleans and filmed his exploration of the place. Of course he partnered with a film studio to make it, but I believe that was mostly for crew, high quality equipment, and additional funding. He still was the creative lead for the film. It's called Closed For Storm and is available for free though Amazon Prime

Montana Rusa. Spanish for roller coaster is an icon and the inspiration for the OG Colossus at Six Flags Magic Mountian. They were both designed by the same manufacturer NAD. It’s a disgrace how the park allowed it to fall in to ruin. The fact that it’s a mobious loop makes it ahead of it time when it was created. I would have loved to have a ride on it even if it was a shell of its former glory. Perhaps my some miracle somebody will buy Montana Rusa and refurbish it ans run it independently much like Cyclone at Coney Island.

6:11 that was the queue entrance for montaña rusa
When this park closed, there was a contest in which the interested of purchasing it submitted their ideas for the park, Six flags even entered the competition but they gave the “award” to another company

Man, this is sad. This park is in a sort of way suffering the same fate as Japan's Expoland did back in 2007 when Fujin Raijin II derailed. All it took was for the derailment of a roller coaster to cause the park the close down.
I know that Expoland didn't immediately close forever after the accident like La Feria de Chapultepec did 12 years later, but it almost feels as though history had repeated itself. All I'm hoping for is that somebody buys this park and restores it to its former glory.
Six Flags can't buy the park as they already have Six Flags Mexico, which is like, a nearly 40-minute drive from La Feria. IDK if Cedar Fair is interested in buying the park, but since they own one park that is not in the US (Canada's Wonderland), perhaps they can give this one a try?
