good luck on your digs, i don't think you will have any trouble at all gaining new ground , how could any farmer say no to you. love your vlogs, the great thing about detecting is we learn something new everyday,, cool art also.

I don’t mind pasture at all. Most of the year I’m on it. Currently on ploughed fields and not been blown away by finds. I am rather spoilt with permissions all year round tbf. Best part 1000 acres. Enough for a lifetime but still look for other areas to go

I don’t mind pasture but sometimes hanker after a ploughed field especially at the moment they all look so inviting!!!

Hi Ellie. If you don't already own a copy of 'Advanced Metal Detecting': Norfolk Wolf, my advice, for what it's worth, is that perhaps it may be of benifit to you if you invest in one of them. It isn't expensive, but it is "worth it's weigh in gold" imo. Yes, the machines are dated, now, but the principles surrounding correct implementation et al, remain exactly the same. Us old-skool, old-timers, refer to John's book as 'The Bible' (of the metal detecting). Lynn, was John's pseudonym (he hailed from Kings Lynn). John wrote the book at the behest of many of the metal detectorists at the pinnacle of the hobby/profession. John personified 'the real deal' imo. Hope this proves useful info, especially with the darker evenings closing in.

@@miss_detectorist Well done. Wise move, I reckon👍I had the priveledge of viewing John's personal collection of Iron Age staters and units. Mind-boggling, eye-popping beauty imo. John used to take his staters and units down to London to sell, but the crispest of the crisp remained with him. Such coins, as tiny gold quarter staters, are "not easily found in the ground". I learned so much from his quietly spoken, well chosen words; GRHS. Blasted cigarettes cut him down, way too soon. Evil things.

Hello Ellie thankyou for your vids esp the national library of Scotland one the other day I knew about it but I never really knew how to use it so much appreciation for that thankyou.
I'm justvwondering on permissions do you offer money? I'm really trying at the moment and I'm trying to have that window salesman mentality of expecting rejection but I am turning up polite well presented I have my ncmd card with my passport and take my little finds box of my best finds but I am yet to get permission one farmer has taken my number and said he would get back to me but that is as far as I have got. That's why I mention money I have said about a fee at the door but haven't had much reaction but I'm really at my witts end lol like you I see all of these plowed fields everywhere and I'm desperate to get on one. Also I've noticed in your vids you mention having to travel to some of your permissions how did you get on to those? where you out trying your luck, did you know someone or did you ring random farms on the phone? Please help I'm really determined to get a solo permission this year😊 thanks again
