Great tutorial. Your way of explaining the three triangles really punched thru my head and will surely help me get a grasp of the W6 on my first trips with it this spring. Thanks Merrill 18:20

@@MetalDetectingNYC Merrill’s videos have been a leading source of information that have taken me and continues to take me on a journey of metal detection eduction. I spent about a half a year now researching my next detector purchase. Each time I got close to coig to a decision, another new detector would be thrown into the mix of consideration. Great to see you teaching about the deus . That’s one reason I started watching your videos. I’ve had my deus 2 since it’s came out but still learn new thing every time I use it . Keep digging
Great intro vid! Wish I had waited a year, but all good! Would like in a future vid to see complete setup for beach use up to and including into shallow water. Keep up the awesome work, you make learning easy!
It was great meeting you at the Central Florida Silver Hunt. Thanks for all of your knowledge and expertise. I do believe I'll be going with the lighter WS6 based on this video
Hey Merril🙋🏻♂️Garry from London here, well I have to say after watching your vid I’m now very enthused to try all of your advice, I sold my Remote and thought it ok as I had the puk but had no idea how to navigate , that said I now feel quietly confident, many thanks and well deserved to be a Deus rep, best G👍🙏
Merrill, My compliments on this video. You have come a long way from being a sort of amateur comedian/detectorist to someone who genuinely has something to say. You description of "the Puck" was exceptional. I also like how polished your editing skills have become. Bill
After watching this I pulled the trigger on a WS6 Master. I also purchased the backpack mi6 pointer and ws2 headphones. I also own a legend and a equinox 700. The Deus is a step ahead of the competition. I am pulling deeper targets with much better id at depth. Yesterday I got a copper penny at 9 in solid repeatable signal vdi steady 90 to 91. I love this detector.
Congratulations Merrill! My wife is looking forward to more "Sushiman"(her name for you 😂) videos. We bought the Legend based on watching your videos and website. I would have gotten a WS6, but I wanted to have the same detector as hers so I can teach her. My next one will be a Deus.

First thing I am super excited that my favorite TH-cam metal detectorist works for the best metal detecting company in the world ! Here's my question. Never have put anything on the stem yet. After half of a year, I am very good at tone detecting. I might look at the number or xy 5% off the time. Thanks Merrill for your hard work.
Brilliant, I’m going to buy the master. This is the clearest video I’ve seen, thanks so much. One noob question: if I use the puck on the stem does that mean the headphones won’t work? Sorry if that’s a stupid question, just trying to learn 👍
I've never seen such clear explanations, really good work Man! I have a question for you: what is the best all-around coil for the beach in your opinion?
The best "How to" out there....thanks Merrill! Trying to set up my brand new D2 and some of the little details are not out there for me to follow! Thanks! Mike in sunny Florida
Merrill, very informative video, thank you!! Maybe I missed it, but I am wondering if the headphones work when the puck is installed on the stem? Or do I purchase the WS2 headphones, and the ones that come with the detector only would work if the puck was attached to them, otherwise just leave them at home? Thanks man...
Merrill, quick question, have you compared target ID # results with the small coil versus the 11" coil? i.e. do the different coils provide different ID #'s on the same target? No changes to the program being used, just swap coils. Think about this, be sure we discuss at the IMDA digfest. Can't wait to meet you - Ben
I needed this Thank you! I’m looking at getting my 1st DEUS 2 and looking at Kelleyco I can’t figure out why the DEUS goes from $700-$1500 in price. I see different words but don’t see the value or added value of function. This Helps!
Are custom programs stored on the coil or the unit. Say i make a custom program on the remote but I want to go out detecting with just the ws6, do i have to redo the program on the ws6?
I got a low-latency bluetooth transmitter, which I zip tied near the WS6 module on the stem , and low-latency Bluetooth headphones. I got both from Amazon for about $90. So I am wireless without the more expensive XP headphones and have the best sounding headphones I have ever owned.
Cool yet also sad that you need to do this to have a properly functioning detector with visible display and headphones. All they needed to do was make the puck blue tooth compatible and they could have doubled their sales.
I used my Grey Ghost wired headphones for about three months when I first got the WS6. The detector is so good that I was quite happy with that setup. I looked into the XP options, and the smaller headphones' style didn't really appeal to me, and I wasn't crazy about spending $200 for the larger ones. So I thought I would try the setup I described and I am very pleased with it. Mainly because I am back to wireless headphones and because of the quality of sound from the headphones that I purchased. They also have the ability to raise the volume high enough for any conditions, such as when it's windy. I agree with you, it would have been nice if any Bluetooth headphones would have worked without the transmitter, but the whole point I am trying to make is don't let the headphones option stop you from getting this unit. You won't be sorry and like me, you can start out with your wired if necessary. @@MrBottlecapBill
Hi Dan, the ground balance is the fact of let your detector knowing the right value of your ground (magnetic ground for inland programs and conductive ground for beach programs) the ground grab is a manual manner to do a ground balance but you can do the ground balance by activating the ground tracking for example or doing it by changing the value manually with + and - button (only for the mono frequency program).
Can you play those old LCD games on it like the firefighter rescue game with people jumping out the burning building, or that grabby octopus hiding treasure?
Would I be able to connect an audio port to bluetooth adaptor to the puck and use my wireless bluetooth headphones? as opposed to wired headphones? My deus 2 is coming this week finally.
Yes, there is a new black wire that is even better. You can run the wire from the coil to the WS6. It does not have the clip like the remote but I tried it with my WS6 mount and it stayed in. Remember the WS6 is water resistant and not waterproof. The remote is water proof and the current go to for any diver.
Hi Merrill, question about the control module attachment to the end of the shift. My friends and I are all having an issue with the connection becoming loose over time where the slightest bump will cause the control module to pop off. Any solutions to this short of after market boxes which permanently attach the control box or changing out the shaft top every few months? Thanks for the advice in advance.
Sorry to hear that you are having an issue. There is a video that shows the optimal way to connect. th-cam.com/users/shortsYONUrpRq80c The advice I could give you is:: To secure the remote control, we provide in every Deus box, a little wrist strap. To avoid breaking too soon the stem holder, you need to plug the remote the correct way by pressing the XP logo against it and THEN, clip it from the top. Please contact your dealer to have another D05B part if you damaged yours as it is not normal for the remote control not to be held firmly. The good news is XP has a 5 year warranty (the longest warranty) if something goes wrong.
How do you overcome the balance I've seen a different shaft that has a counter balance . Also what about coils how many different ones are there . I know I could look it up but I would rather hear it from you

OK, sounds great, just like with the Legend. So I'm ready to purchase the WS6 master with 9" (I'm in Toronto so it would be drop shipped, I presume, from the US distributor). But the reality is, apparently none are available with the new CF lower. I WILL NOT BUY without the CF stem. How about using your new XP ambassador 'clout' and sort this out....cheers
For me it was a game changer. What I am really appreciating now (aside from the detecting awesomeness) is the ease of transport. The backpack, the suitcase. How everything folds and fits. It’s a different experience.
Even BEFORE becoming a XP ambassador, you saw how infrequently I swung other detectors after buying a Deus 2. I said yes to this job because I had an opportunity to learn more from the XP team on my favorite metal detector.
No that’s a perception! The Programs are there and you can create them on the WS6 and save them. XY screen is not there because of screen size. It’s a lighter configuration of the lightest detector on the market.
It is a visual representation of the calculations that go on inside the Deus 2. It can help you inference whether to dig or not to dig. For instance a conductive signal has an uphill pattern while and iron signal will bounce around the screen.
Hi Meril , Since I’m in Canada and our coins have been steel core for quite awhile now , how can you tell if your target is a coin or garbage , and can you run just in 40 kilohertz . I do have a Manticore now and run in All Terrain General , and or steel core coins give a wobble sound to them which helps you identify them because vid numbers are all over the place . The Deus ll WS6 Master has always fascinated me and would love to swing a light machine. Thanks for your time and any input to make a decision , Brian
Hi Brian, 40 kHz is possible in the Deus Mono program. TN Sharpshooter has a video on that th-cam.com/video/r5zci1NuQfA/w-d-xo.html Ive pulled a few Canadian steel core coins. If im not mistaken, there is a non ferrous shell around the coin (copper based). Any detector will read both the steel and the copper thus the wobble. Deus 2 is a game changer! There is a reason that I am here! I have swung many detectors (you can see in my videos), this is the one that won me over.
@@MetalDetectingNYC except the toonies which is copper ply and the loonie which is brass ply, all our change is nickel ply, not copper 40khz on the legend does very well, I haven't used my deus 1 in the field yet but in 24khz air test my deus one doesn't like either the 99.9% nickel coins or the steel core coins, they both sound irony for some reason, the nickel sounding bad baffles me
Good job Merrill. Just bought the WS6 Master from your store on Amazon, making it my backup. I found it pretty easy to navigate except the caveat of being on the main menu when you go to switch it off. Took me a little while to figure that out. I was looking on Amazon for that diving bag since the WS6 doesn’t come with antenna option, do you know if there’s any way to make it useable in shallow less than 6” water? Such as maybe a short antenna option? I can use my remote Xp2 but I’d like the ability to use the WS6 in shallow water as well if that’s possible. See if you can find out if XP has something in mind for shallow water, fresh or salt. TIA
Gary I finally responded to your email about the event in April. That is an excellent question. I havent experimented yet with the wire and the waterproof pouch. I will bring this up and try to get an answer for you.
Yes, it's totally possible to use the DEUS II RC version antenna or even the DEUS 1 antenna and stick with some tape. Pay attention WS6 module is not waterproof.
@@erell2732 Love to know how you rigged it. Did you just run the antenna up the shaft and terminate it near the top? I have the waterproof bag for the XPs, so the puck will be fine. But the coil normally loses connect in just a few inches of water.
Sometimes you're so far off the mark it's scary you have any influence. The coil is not the brain and there are significant differences between the 2 devices.
Last report no way shit near emi one bloke started in 2016 sold the lot never looked back he said never again I nearly fell over.😂. As for dive lol ya need a case that's extra pass.😊
Bought a new XP ORX used it for a hour and turned it off then used it again now it acts like it's locked up and won't do anything. My coil and remote is charged up. Never again buying a XP Product. Ill stick to my minelab machines
Why did you sell out to a company? your videos are good or were good, the business of metal detecting is to get as many people to buy newer machines even if they are no better than the last generation, you have just become a pawn of the industry, I own a few of the top machines, I can tell you that every one of them can find mostly the same stuff, you became full of sh++ as soon as you signed with a company Merrill, now your advise is junk. Thanks so much.

@@MetalDetectingNYC except the toonies which is copper ply and the loonie which is brass ply, all our change is nickel ply, not copper
40khz on the legend does very well, I haven't used my deus 1 in the field yet but in 24khz air test my deus one doesn't like either the 99.9% nickel coins or the steel core coins, they both sound irony for some reason, the nickel sounding bad baffles me
Thanks alot for u realy thanks
Thank you!
Your selling me on XP for sure 👍
I believe in it sir!!! See 8:10
That's his job now 🤔
Good job Merrill.
@@Gary_Daytona I put it inside the stem support through the jack hole and block it with the ws6 module

Awww I was hoping he would say 10 times faster than the speed of light 😅
Were getting there! 😂

You have the long press and short press the wrong way around on your graphic.
Will review the graphic.
hello Meril
Hi Marcus! Thank you for checking this video out!
Just about done building my backup d2 using my puck, all I need to complete is the head phone pc board and stem mount. Great information M Thank you !
You have come a long way in a short time with the deus team ,great to see thanks for the info can't wait to see what comes next😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
HONORED Russ T! Thank you for your long term support!
I liked your hunt videos much better
New one coming out tomorrow on MDNYC.
I wish your sponsorship of ORX could be or is very difficult for good advertising and good sales to happen ⁉️
I just took my ORX out today! Videos coming!
@@MetalDetectingNYC yes
@@MetalDetectingNYC Cool, I need sponsorship support from the factory to send one so I can make the videos and advertise
The adapter for the headphones is a piece of junk I’m on my second one . The headphone jack is not very well connected to the adapter very flimsy
🤔
3 years ago, merrill attempted to use the original deus and failed miserably.
Problem is ...when you truly make the master versatile, you're already 1000$ in the hole
So much finds with it that it deserves the money...
Metal detecting is the only hobby that you SHOULD expect to fully recoup your original investment. That is especially true if you buy quality.
Ultra light metal detector.
Yes!
