    Another masterpiece Davie, plenty of movement with this beauty, and the colour combination makes it come to life, when you put the hairdryer on it. You make it look easy!👌

    That color combination will catch almost any freshwater fish. If it was a lure, it would be called firetiger color. VERY nicely done Sir!

    Hello Davie,
    Very delicious fly, I think it will work great for salmon on the rivers of the South Coast of Kola Peninsula.

    Mr . McPhail, yet another piece of art you've made! How much exactly to do sell your flies for? I'm interested in purchasing your top 4 or 5 favorite Steelhead flies! Thank you!

    What would be the best substitute for the Blue Eared Pheasant feather? Some saddle hackle would be ok or too short? Awesome pattern Sir!

      Hi Krzysiek Stefanczyk,
      Ring Neck Rump feathers can be very good as a sub so I have attached a link to Sean Stantons website as he has some that you may like to try..He also sells Intruder hackles which can also be worth using on this type of fly...I'm glad you liked the fly...

    Hi Davie, I'll take a six pack of those Heineken please! What a beautiful fly! I love the way the bottom stays open, looks like a bait fish, tear drop shape to boot. I wondered why you cut the front of the outer tube at an angle, and is the tube fished with a hook holder at the back, I forget what what they are called? Also, I purchased a beautiful silver fox tail, is there anything I can do to make it easier to use? It's boned out, split, and very clean. I don't know if I should wash it and try to flatten it out like a bucktail and/or cut into medallions. It's hard to hold it open to cut on the skin side, like you would a rabbit pelt. Thanks Davie, you gave excellent instruction on tying the fly, as you always do, always giving a choice in materials and providing the techniques to tye it the best way possible.

      Hi Joe,
      Cutting the outer tubing in a taper just works well for me as i always like to taper the dressing towards the head just like I do in most salmon flies...It also helps to secure the inner tubing so it's less likely to come loose from the dressing.. Running the fox hair through a comb will always help make the fox much easier to work with, I use a dog comb and as well a small bone comb to clean the fox before I tye with it..I hope this is of some help to you..
      All the very best Davie..

    Hello Davie. I enjoy your videos a lot and i tie and fish many of your patterns. This heineken fly is a wonderful pattern which I would like to tie as an intruder with red dumbell eyes... may I ask your advice on two things? First, should I still tie in the JC, or do the dumbell eyes replace it well enough? Second, where do you recommend to position the eyes - in front or behind the hackle? Appreciate your help, Hannes

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Hannes,
      I have tyed a few Intruder flies over the years and I have added large jungle cock eyes behind the hackle as I feel it suits this style..I would tye some with and without the jungle cock just to see how they fish especially if I was using the dumbell eyes. I'm glad you enjoy the videos and thank you for the very kind words...All the very best Davie..

      Hi Dewi,
      You could tye a smaller version of this fly in the same colour combination but it would be a totally different fly..
