    Once again sir, you never cease to impress. What a lovely fly. I have seen you use a hair drier before, but on this fly I actually laughed a bit watching the fibers dance. I never thought a fly could have a bad hair day, but you proved me wrong, and the hair drier trick really made a difference. Thank you once again Mr. McPhail for tying such a beautiful fly and being so detailed in your instructions.

      Hi Sergey,
      I would say I do all three, though I would follow patterns from books when I first started tying and then I would add my own small touches to the odd pattern through to making some of my own..Thank you for the kind words..

    Hello Davie, are you able to tell me what song you use in your video

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Labrador Fly Tying,
      The music was composed and played by my son Sean it's called Monet as I tried to paint my own Monet in a video and this is the track I used...He originally did this for me to use on my TH-cam videos as I need to own the copyright to use it in them...He did other tracks for me and this is one many ask about...

    What makes Spey patterns different from salmon patterns?

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Gizmo Carr,
      The Spey style flies go back a long way and can fish just as well as many of the new patterns we see today. All salmon flies and lure patterns aim to get movement and especially a teardrop shape in your fly and the Spey fly gives you this so they have stayed very popular with many salmon and steelhead fishers.
      All the very best Davie

    • @gizmocarr3093
      @gizmocarr3093 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DavieMcPhail I was relating Spey Rods with Spey flies. I have tied smaller versions and used them for Trout and Steelhead. The less colorful and more natural patterns work better in clear water. Colorful natural materials work well with a tiny amount of sparkle. Too much sparkle and trout avoid flies like the plague. Thank you for answering my question

    This is streamer or wet fly?

    • @pr0faker
      @pr0faker 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      a Spey salmon fly, most are wet flies yeah. there are a few classic streamer patterns but basically every salmon fly, except for the nimphs and dry flies like bombers etc. are a wet fly style you swing with a spey rod.
