    F man. This is the best video on rear brakes for a Lexus I’ve seen by far. Everyone else is complicated, poor lighting/ video, random steps, missing steps etc. much appreciated

    Thank you for a great video. I always burp the dust cover around the piston after you push the piston back in. It is still has air in it in the video, if you burp it it will fit flush again. I just put the tip of a small screw driver around where it seals to the piston, and the air will release.

    Great detailed steps and tips. As far as the electronic brake losing I think you can do it via the car. Not that your way is bad but sometimes the less you uninstall the better.

      Thanks !2020-2022, you can disengage the parking brake through the inside or with a scan tool. 2015-2020 to disengage requires the use of a scan tool or doing it his way. The reason i showed this procedure is for the d.i.y. er. Simply because it covers 2015-2022.

    Your instruction was great. I followed step by steps and completed the rear brake pads for my 2016 RX350. One of the 5 mm hex bolt on the electronic caliper was tough to removed due to rust. Do you know the size of the hex bolt? I need to get one soon,

    On the 2020-2022 you can put it in brake maintenance mode by using the e-brake button, no?

    • @harborareatech310
      @harborareatech310  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You are right there is a way to do that on those certain years but it can trigger a trouble code after and if you don't have a scan tool to clear it then you have to find one somehow. This video is mainly for those with only regular tools. It's the safest way for the d.i.y.er. Plus, it covers the 2015-2019 models that don't have brake test mode without a scan tool.

      Any reason as to why the caliper pins have different length also the shirt one has a black tape on it. I mixed them as I pulled both out without paying attention. Right now I am not sure which goes on top and which one on the bottom. Thanks

    We did not realize we needed to put my Lexus ES350 2021 in maintenance mode before replacing the rear brakes on my car. We unplugged the electronic power brake cable following some tips we found online. Put everything back together, bled the brakes and everything works great except we now get an error and no loner have cruise control. Do you have a fix for this besides paying the dealer an arm and a leg lol? Appreciate you

      I would connect a capable scanner to read if there are any stored trouble codes related to your problems in any of the modules.

    Was it hard to get the parking brake actuator off and did you need to replace the O-ring? Also was the car is park with the parking brake off when you did this? Thanks!

    • @harborareatech310
      @harborareatech310  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Removing the actuator is not hard. It just required a bit of moving back and forth. It's not required to replace the oring if visually it still looks ok. All it does is prevents dust and dirt from getting in. The vehicle was in park with the parking brake disengaged before performing this job

    I need to change the rear brake on my Lexus Rx350 do I need to lift both rear tires because I don't have the necessary tool to lift both tires off the ground can I just take off the electronic components off one at a time?

    • @harborareatech310
      @harborareatech310  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @phillyb9499 I use a 12mm head size bolt with a thread pitch of m8x1.25, probably about 2 inches in length

    This isn’t exactly true. On the 2017 models you can’t disengage the rear parking brake from the ignition. This feature wasn’t available until the 2019 or 20 models I believe. I just paid some 🤡 mobile mechanic to do the rear brakes on my’17 and he did it all wrong so he completely destroyed the calipers, causing brake fluid leakage and the pads wore very quickly and unevenly so I have to replace the rotors too. Now I am paying 💰💰💰for it all because of an incompetent mechanic

    • @harborareatech310
      @harborareatech310  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What part in the video isn't true?

    • @staceya.775

      @@harborareatech310 You said to disengage the rear electric brake with the ignition. Your video title says this tutorial is for 2015-2022. You can’t disengage the rear electric parking brake using the ignition with all those models. On mine you need a scan tool. But I wrote this before I saw your comment responding to someone else saying just that

    • @harborareatech310
      @harborareatech310  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @staceya.775 if your parking brake is on, it is engaged. To turn it off, you disengage it by simply pushing down on the parking brake button that procedure applies for all models and years with an electric parking brake. That is what i meant by that. If you want to fully retract the electrical actuator from the parking brake mechanisms, you need to follow the procedures in this video unless you have a scan tool. And yes, you are correct about fully retracting the electronic actuator on 2020 and up, but it's not as simple as simply pushing down on the parking brake button. But this video does work for 2015-2022 models.
