@@davidsands646 I still have to replace things on all of those electronic systems. I've never been asked to replace mechanical components on mechanical systems, no matter how many times I've worked on older cars. They're more robust than electronically-controlled systems.
You should actually use OBDII software to release the parking brake(VCDS or smh), because after replacement you need to adapt your parking brake motors so they know the distance between the rotor and your new brake pads. 9 times out of 10 nothing bad will happen, but there is always that 1 time when you f*ck up your brakes, they overheat, and you end up with a costly mess :)
These brake calipers will relearn their position and calibrate themself when you push the park brake button. However the older style brake calipers on VW's and Audi's need their position to be set with VAGcom or another diag tool, you have to put the new brake pad thickness in and also do a calibration with the software. If not done properly there is usaly a permanent fault code set regarding power loss or torque fault, And the only way to erase it is by coding in vcds and doing adaptations in a certain way, however i have found that its 50/50 it will work or not, sometimes the calipers wont accept it and needs replacing. A couple of years ago i had atleast one car a week towed to my shop with this problem, ive lost count on how many calipers ive replaced but it must be in the 50-80s. Its not fun when the calipers cost 400$ each + labour cost. Same thing goes with newer Volvos and Ford Mondeos with electric p brake, i have replaced 20 calipers on them to becouse of people jumping them.

This is a guy with five kids and a sick wife struggling to live month to month. I found your video, and we took a chance. I don’t know how to thank you other than to say Thank you!
Man.this is really awesome help.i do all my own mechanical work and also for paying family and friends.recently ive worrying about how to do this because a few family members have bought vw golfs and tiguans with e parking.cant believe how easy this is.
You should have also set the caliper with the notches correctly so it engages the dimple on the back of the pad. Anyone that does this, do it at your own risk as without using a diag tool that can put the brake in service mode you may not be able to get it to work right after for a variety of issues that take too long to explain just be warned of how many people have done this and ended up having to replace the calipers and recode with VCDS

Of your doing this without air/impact tools.... after removing the lug stud caps loosen the lug studs with a breaker bar. Only a few turns to break the torque. If you forget this step it will probably be the only time. The wheel will spin but lugstud won’t loosen. Remember most European vehicles......the lugnut is not a lug nut. They use Lug Stids in that the support weight of the stud is attached to the nut. Simple summary....lift the car up only as far as necessary to get weight off the tire. Leave the two upper lug studs for last so you have something to support the weight of the tire. They also make Tire Trees for European vehicles for a few bucks on Amazon. This threads in the stud opening and can support the weight of the tire for a few seconds until the regular lugstud gets threaded. As you get the adjacent lugstud installed remove the tire tree and will make tire removal/installation so much easier....especially when doing yourself.
Is it possible to adjust the electronic parking brake? My rear pads are low and my parking brake doesnt seem to be holding too well, maybe getting new pads will fix it but not sure. Perfect. Thank you.

You're The Best.
Boss video! I was going to try this today, but I was worried the connector had more than 2 pins, and that I might blow up a piston position sensor or something. Is it 2 or 3 pin and if it's 3, do you just go for the outer 2 pins with the 12v source? Thanks.
