    This video was a nice reminder of the handful of variables that go into dialing in your brew.

    Thanks for this clear explanation of how to remedy sour tasting coffee.
    We just got a Bonavita 8 cupper with the glass carafe. Very happy with this machine but when I brew lesser amounts they come out sour. I was thinking less water brewed faster. I'll try a little finer grind and see how that works.

    Thanks this is very helpful. I just got my kalita wave today and have been fiddling with brewing all day and kept getting a slightly sour taste. Apparently I'm just not used to light roast

    In my opinion, regarding extraction, agitation is a factor that has more incidence than the ratio. Stir fast or slow, pour whit a lot or a little volume, near or far, it will influence more than the amount of water used

    Thanks for the video. What about when using a percolator (Moka Pot)?

  • @SundayswithHart
    @SundayswithHart 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Loved the animation and editing. Yes, we cannot use too hot water. Do you have tips for moka pots?

    • @gunungmerapiapi1933
      @gunungmerapiapi1933 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! Thank you! We need tips for the moka pot too
      For me, I use light roasted beans so I grind them twice, but not too fine like espresso grind
      And use the correct stove, I realized that my moka pot don't contact the flame perfectly, that's why I brew for too long
      So I use those metal that's used for cooking at camping
      Tell me if you have moka pot tips, Hart

    Hahaha my First time with aeropress i ended up like the girl (left) in the video when trying the inverted way. apparently i didn’t put correctly the plunger into the chamber (so when flipping the aeropress, it was about to open but I held everything on time) there were just some drops on the table. Nothing to worry out but an experience to learn.

    • @BrandonPeccoralo
      @BrandonPeccoralo 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure. Grind very coarse, put it in the keurig, and then walk to the garbage and throw the entire unit in the trash. Purchase something for pour over coffee

    I want my Coffee to taste extremely bitter without the sourness.
    Anyway to achieve that?

    • @davidyoo6183
      @davidyoo6183 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think there are several ways to achieve this. 1. Get a darker roast. 2. Grind your beans to fine (espresso). 3. Use more ground. 4. Brew longer. Each of these steps should help with over-extraction, which leads to a more bitter taste. You'll have to experiment with each of these steps to achieve the flavor you want.

    Ummm , is just pouring hot water to ground coffee(and then drinking it) , a good way to brew coffee?
    On first i found it sour , then it turns out that my water temperature is too low.
    And then after i watched this video it turned out how i like it when i buy it from a cafe.
    But you did not mention just pouring water to the glass that has grounded coffee in it.
    Sorry , i have ever only makes instant coffee before this lol.

    • @Barsookmik
      @Barsookmik 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do my coffee like that since I don’t have a coffee machine or anything else. It’s a slightly different taste but I like it. I’m not a coffee master but I also know a lot of people who do their coffee this way. However, you should put more coffee in your cup than you usually put in a coffee machine. Also I recommend putting a small plate (not plastic or metal) over your cup while it brews.

    I usually brew 100% Columbian coffee. Rarely I brew Kona coffee (the only coffee grown in N. America - Hawaiian islands, of course). If I use pre-packaged pod coffee, I like the Pacific Bold sold exclusively at Costco. I also like Starbucks Alpine. What I totally dislike is decaffeinated coffee. I've never tasted any that had the aromatic fruity and flavorful qualities of caffeinated coffees.

    If the coffee isn't roasted enough, it will taste sour. Period. Hipster coffee is sour because it's under roasted, and no amount of brewing technique will change that.

  • @YoungNino2017
    @YoungNino2017 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm not so sure... some coffees are just sour before they are even brewed... I can smell a sour coffee before it's even brewed, so it's not just how it's brewed.
