the 5110 LCD can work well, just take off the frame, clean everything with iso, and put back together and lock the frame thoroughly. Or maybe you got unlucky.
I was surprised when i dropped one with breadboard and it came apart that has some conductive rubber pads and it's pushed against PCB by a sheet metal. It's very easy to misalign and contact is quite unreliable. Also I'm curious if display is the same as Nokia 3310, but everyone calls it 5110.

It looks interesting, my problem is with the power supply of the device, all I see is one 3V coin cell battery and a USB module with a voltage limiter that is not connected. PS. I can't imagine why you would have a wireless module with a microprocessor, unless you want to change the code wirelessly, which is not recommended for security devices.
It’s a cool project. But given how cheaply and accessible 3d printing and circuit board design and distribution are - why don’t you just design your own pcb based on this?
Resoldering is MAD dedication, I'd have just riped the components off and taken a new protoboard, is it more work? Yes. Is it less of a headache? NAH, I'D-- I'm not doing it.
