@@Tobmei Ele and Engi don't interrupt their weapon skills by swapping attunements or kits, which is why you can keep the channel going despite moving to fire. As to interrupting it, that's just a thing on all classes. Some skills have higher priority than others and interrupt current casts instead of queueing if you activate them mid animation (stunbreaks, blocks and CC are usually among those, but not exclusively). And Hurricane of Pain apparently has a lower priority than the fire hammer skills. As to cooldowns, Hammer 3 tracks two different cooldowns: that of the current attunement's orbital and that of Grand Finale, but it displays only that of the latter (unless you drop your orbs whithout using Grand Finale, which you don't want to happen). The rotation is desinged to have as much uptime of Crescend Wind (the air orbital) as possible, which is why it comes off cooldown just after the use of Grand Finale.

I definitely didn't expect that comment, thanks :D For what it's worth, I'm gonna rework the quickness rotation a bit either during the weekend or next week, since I forgot about a bug which removes quickness every 3 seconds on the golem, because of which I used way too much Boon duration. As a result, the quickness rotation is gonna become way easier and closer to the normal dps rotation again!
Very enjoyable and a great watch for everyone trying to get good/bench cata. Especially the "using air sphere at 100 energy part". For some reason you can't gain energy shortly after casting a sphere it seems, gave me quite a headach before figuring it out myself, glad your video will prevent all that for fellow catalyst enjyoer.
Awesome video! The hardest part of the rotation I find at the moment is in fire cause you gotta use all the abilities and get into earth for hammer 3 and I’m like 50-50 timing the orb out and it feels bad
@@jamesfuss Yea true, fire into earth is quite clutch. I guess that is preventable by using fire 3 during fire 5, as you have a lot of time then. About your second questioN: Yeah, that is basically my train of thought when doing the main benchmark. You place the first sphere in fire, then chill a bit, then fire 3. That way you are guaranteed to take less than 5 seconds until you activate your earth 3 (well, more or less guaranteed)

You had the same idea of building a transmog from tempest shoulder, weaver gloves and catalyst helmet. They look really cool combined with the catalyst hammer.
Thanks for the great guide. Have been trying Catalyst for several hours at the Golem but I usually always get out at "only" around 33-34k. After reviewing myself in ShadowPlay I realized one of the issues might be that I barely ever reach the full 10 stacks of Elemental Empowerment... in consequence barely ever Empowered Empowerment... so I don't get the large stat bonus and it takes it's course ;-). I assume to keep these 10 stacks as perfectly up as you do most of the time the only way is to do the rotation as smooth and without any delay as you do or do you have any other tip here? :)
Oh boy. The hardest part for me was to get through fire to earth without losing orbs. So I started by getting muscle memory for that first. But I was not able to get your rotation so I put, as recommended, the 3 onto the 5 cast to give myself some time. Shouldn't be a huge DPS loss I imagine.

dang it you changed head, shoulder, arm, weapon and back to dragon stat. dont have legendary armor any idea how to get inscription and insignia for dragon stat? thanks for the explanation. this build is really amazing.
I have no idea, sorry D: I guess Valkyrie is easier to make than dragon's? You gotta be careful though, since replacing one gear piece with valkyrie loses way more precision than dragon's
Im having issues hitting the critcap even with full berserker gear.. those empowerment stacks are going up too slowly and dont align with the cresent wind crit buff.. is it up to being too slow with the rotation? got full ascended gear and max i see it going is 93%.. no infusions tho

With your rotavideos and a tiny bit of golempractice i started liking Catalyst aswell and it reminded me in the times with my second favourite build (after distort+signet-share-on-phantasm-chrono) when i was able to tease my squadmates as staffweaver. It's probably the longer animations during which you swap attunements and stuff. Which leads me to my question: What are ur f1-f4s bound to? I personally would like to keep my attunements at y(/z in engl.layout)xcv since im used to that for pvp mostly and i think relearning that would take time i don't rlly wanna spend on that right now. even with my mediumlarge hands i think the f1-f4 would be kinda awkward while moving around. I have the sphere on my index finger (since that ones kinda free when not turning the camera around, but as a dps i obvsly dont need any awereness of my surroundings anyway since my eyes are clued to (only the dps part ofc of) arc. Im thinking of maybe trying some pinky-shift-combos or ^

The reason why I advertise large hitboxes more than small ones is because the small hitbox rotation uses fire glyph, even though I personally think that on most bosses you should use air glyph.
My biggest regret about this video is forgetting to mention that. If you have to start with 0 energy, you do everything same except you don't place air sphere when starting the rotation! Instead, you open with air glyph (no matter the hitbox), do normal rotation into fire and wait a bit until you fill up like 66% of your energy before placing first fire glyph, so that your rotation works out normally from there on
@@Roulhalt Do you think it is better to use elemental celerity to build up energy in air then reset the skills? Definitely a dps loss compared to fgs if you start with 100 energy. But for 0 energy, I can't tell. It does make the rotation easier

It got nerfed insanely hard. The condis applied by hammer 3#s have a super short duration now. Barely scratching 36k dps
