Great video and please include your voice description for all future videos. For someone who English is not their native language, you did a great job. Amazing video, this helped me understand weaver so much better. I really liked the section with the small healing combo, really clever ! If I may, Id love to suggest two things to you, one: you know your stuff and you talk easily about it, but adding some text on top when you speak about rotation and combo would make the pausing and playing game way less complicated and help us understand more easily ! (I just started playing, I had a lot of pause play to do) And two, If there is enough content for that, Id love to see a video with small combo like the healing one, for example, maybe a defiance break rotation or anything usefull like these. I love your work and the effort you put into it !
Glad to see that the elementalist has been in a very good place since the July 2020 balance update. Both Tempests and Weavers have effective high damage power and condition damage builds available, while the Tempest is also powerful in a support role.
I mostly clicked because i suspected you would talk :DDD Yay it's very nice to follow a vid when voice explained. And kudos to you for breaking the shyness (or whatever was holding u back). Returning player here...I have always been shy of Weaver in openworld d/t its complexity and and low health pool is...in comparison to some other professions. I find this very helpful and I am willing to dust off my lil Asura once again :) Ty for the guide and insights :)

I really want to get into this spec and i see all these 100 move long rotations with no explanation on WHY they're using those attunements and skills in that order. Im wondering if you have an updated version of the build within the current patch and changes such as relics being added to the game. It seems like most of the popular builds out there are very much glass canon builds and i want this kind of survivability. How do you feel about Celestial gear on this build? Given all the mix of stats i would think it would be good, but the way you have increased condi damage based on your toughness makes me think it's probably worth farming for some Trailblazers! This had some really great explanations of the traits and skills - especially I liked the explanation of how to use weave self which I now realise I have been using incorrectly a lot! More stuff like this would be great :D
This was a really good video. The explanation was very detailed which is tremendous to make people understand the aspects of that class. The build itself is good as well. You cover many aspects and emphasize a high importance on the dodge mechanic which is by far the best thing to teach people who not only want to solo things but want to improve their playstyle in general. Your voice itself is pretty pleasant to listen to and you are a fluid talker which makes you easy to understand. The examples you've shown were pretty impressive! I liked this video a lot and you did an amazing job here:) may i ask you how you see ele's ballancing at this moment? do you like the profession as it is or would you have anything changed?
Thank you so much! :) Ele is in a pretty tough spot compared to other classes, since it has one of the more difficult rotations, yet still is one of the worse dps classes - not to mention it doesn't bring anything other than raw damage to the table in the first place (compared to scourge, firebrand, renegade, etc.). That being said though Catalyst may very well safe the class, as it hopefully will do huge damage as well as provide perma quickness, all while being more tanky aswell. It really depends on what anet is gonna do with the spec on release though

@@Roulhalt Celestial is kind of just insane in terms of the amount of stats it gives now. But I agree, due to high-specilization of PvE dps builds into either power or condi damage this is not normally as important. Celestial hybrid healers however are actually ridiculously strong support / tanks in pve as well under current balance because they don't take as many damage traits specializing them into one type of damage and therefore negating the beneficial effects of having both power and condi stats. For example a full cele tempest with condi damage infusions heals only ~25% less than a full minstrel tempest and does at least 10k more dps, essentially making minstrels tempest pointlessly redundant imo.
@@sadrien Oh yeah no doubt, celestial builds in organised group content are huge rn, cele ren alone is already ridiculous, I only meant that I'm not the biggest fan of celestial gear in solo content!
When you said TB-Gear and Undead runes I already expected you to use Corsair tuning crystals 😂👍🏻 Not that I would use this combination on my Mesmer for example 😂👍🏻
Out of interest, have you tried benchmarking this with "full boons", just so we can know the DPS drop vs the full meta build if you were to drag this into competent fractal groups when playing extra casual and not needing to self-sustain as aggressively. Doesn't need to be particularly accurate, just a vague sense of the DPS loss. Also what are your thoughts on using, say, a sigil of battle to help improve the might uptime. I can't help but notice that self-boons are really not great. Or what about celestial? Then you could maybe run a strength rune. As much as self sustain is good, I can't help but think about how much killing enemies faster also generally keeps you alive (in all but the big champ and longest fights) Vocal is great btw. And I'd been waiting for some time for people to suggest builds for when playing solo. It's a really different game when you don't have alacrity or quickness. And very much agree about tempest actually being less survivable. Those overloads, especially if you want to use fire overload, make it really hard to not eat huge amounts of damage. The trick is realizing you should run focus on weaver.
Heya! I really can't tell you about the benchmark thing and won't get to try it until the new year sorry, my guess is that it probably does around 33k dps though I love battle sigil! It is a great dps increase for this build. I just decided to go with leeching sigil because it is a bit of extra heal, and the primary goal of this build was to combine safety and dps. If you feel comfortable with having less heal, go for it! Celestial is significantly weaker though both in terms of dps and safety, so I wouldn't really recommend you that. Thanks for the feedback!
Hi Roul, thanks for making this guide. I was wondering if you have done any benchmarks for this like you normally would for your raid builds. Reason I’m asking: I use more or less that exact same build however I focus entirely on Burning damage and because I do I went with full Dire over Trailblazer. This results in more condition damage, more vitality, but lower toughness. Since I am only prioritizing burn damage, I am able to hit 100% burning with just traits, balthazar runes and 10% duration sigil. In essense, you’re trading bleed duration here for higher burn damage ticks. I went this route because I felt like often burns are doing the heavy lifting and having more condi damage allows quicker burst from burning. Maybe against high hp bosses, having a mix of bleed and burn can shave a lot of seconds off of your total clear time but I felt this to be irrelevant in about 3/4 of the content you’d be doing solo. Now, I never did specific benchmarks for this so it is just based off of my it feeling faster to me running about in the open world. You can also change up rotation slightly and focus more on skills that deal burn damage. What do you think?

haha yea, mic war ein bisschen kompliziert. Jedes mal wenn ich es lauter gemacht hab als diese Einstellung hat sony vegas störgeräusche erzeugt. Wenn ich das nochmal mache werde ich mir das nochmal etwas anschauen. Das build ist 10/10 in solo szenarios, sobald du in groups spielst ist es definitiv weniger gut ("weniger optimal aber dafür stirbst du nicht" triffst es eig ziemlich gut). Generell würde ich full dps hybrid weaver in frac pugs empfehlen!

However, I would like to ask how this build compares to the condi PVE weaver build which is based on fire/earth traits (it can be found on metabattle)? Why do you choose arcane over earth? Which one do you recommend?
im planning to craft my first ascended set to play weaver with. And i wonder if i should go for berserker or trailblazer, i want to play fractals to T4 (currently in T2), finish my stories (starting PoF story now) and i want to try raids and strikes later on. Which set will suit best for me? I assume i will craft more sets later on or even legendaries. Any advice will be helpful :) btw nice video!!

(I'm mostly new to raids since I don't have anyone to play with and the few times I ran raids were through trainings I found here and there). Also, would it be possible to get a guide from you on raid weaver rotation, somehow broken down into small bits? I'm having a hard time understanding it fully especially the parts where I have to reset it if I mess it up. Thanks a lot again!
The cairn solo took around 30 minutes, and the agony mechanic does affect you! You just have enough sustain to outheal it. Not sure if I'll do a raid rotation guide about weaver any time soon, first I'll probably focus on catalyst once eod releases, but I'll keep it in mind.
I fell in love on elementalist when I first play GW2 and now Im planning to get legendary envoy light armour my elementalist is my main, my concern is since I'm Asia Pacific region with 200+ ms are weavers rotation affects alot my DPS with high ping players? Thanks!
What do you think about celestial gear? Wooden potatoes has shared a celestial tempest build for open world that also uses earth trait skill to convert toughness into cond dmg. I question myself if celestial gear on weaver could work too... I will definitely try out your superior rune of the undead for more convertion of thoughness :D

Oh well, I won't lie to you, firebrand is significantly stronger than ele right now (might change with EoD). For now, if you enjoy playing firebrand, there is no real reason to swap to ele
7 more classes to go :')... I really would like to see this kind of guide for engineer But i must say it's a really nice video and explanations with some tips and explanations for the trait synergies.
Thanks! I don't really feel comfortable with making guides of classes that I haven't played extensively though. I've noticed that some people have done guides on classes they don't fully understand and usually the end result is quite lack luster

@@Roulhalt as a content creator, you can always ask for help with the classes you don’t feel expert at. Just get a few players who main the class that you want to make a video about who are really good on that class and listen to each of them, then analyze the answers and builds and make your own decisions about what you think is best.
What stat set or build would recommend for Catalyst? Would it be Celestial or something like Trailblazer? I am trying to make my first ascended set for Elementalist, but I want to make something both Weaver and Catalyst could use since I do not have that many resources
Will have to see if there are any interesting new stat combations or runes. As of now I am learning towards either a power based catalyst, using valkyrie & assassin's, or indeed a full celestial build. I'll definitely investigate and make a build on that once it is out
I think i am going to try this with grieving/berserker stats( as i have for some reason a full exotic set in bank), then cry a bit and change it to trailblaizer.
I know that is a very good build and set up... I just wonder if there is any possibility to have a ranged weapon choice? We have staff and scepter... And I'm afraid both are not the best but which one of these 2 would you recommend for some massive meta events where distance might be needed?
Scepter is the better one of the two by far! If you go scepter, you can use the exact same build. The rotation changes a tiny bit as you don't want to go into air anymore but instead always just swap between earth and fire
I have been using a similar build for my weaver, its quite strong in most fights but in fights where you have to keep distance (like some PoF bounties or the Axe guy frm HoT) not having a range option sucks. What do you suggest doin in fights like those?
Someone already asked a similar question before, I guess I really should have added it to the guide, but scepter is a very strong alternative to sword! You can even use the same gear, but instead of going into air occasionally you only rotate between fire and earth.
I'm running the celestial version because I also play lots in WvW but I've found having a Staff as a second weapon set really helps. Especially when you know beforehand where you want ranged options(for me defending a objective in wvw)
Out of pure curiosity which build is better for the average player - Power Weaver or Hybrid Weaver? I checked them on the SC site and felt like asking.
I'd say hybrid weaver tbh. The rota really isn't much harder than power, it easily does higher damage, and it actually has better survivability, so win/win/win right?
small question about the traits : 3:38 "this trait is fantastic [...] 3 block and a stun break" I heard a lot of people say that's this trait/spell is amazing but in PvE isn't it a really lackluster thing ? The stunbreak is kinda irrelevant imo and 3 situationnal block on a 60s cd is imo pretty terrible. My point being : Shouldn't it be more of a "the other trait aren't great either anyways, so let's go with that ?" I just don't understand the hype behind it, if it's justified I would appreciate some guidance about it. :(
Hm welll, I guess I see why "fantastic" was a bit of an overreaction in hindsight. Getting free blocks sub 50% still is pretty nice though considering that being sub 50 health usually means that things are starting to get scary
@@Roulhalt I guess it's okay, I was just curious because everyone I know who play elem pretty much advise to take this trait or the spell directly in PvE when I think it's just... kinda okay. i have kept this to meself for a little while but maybe i'll share this here since i like you one of the thing i use for braindead mode on ele is rune of aristocracy gain might upon inflicting weakness lesser earth elemental inflict weakness upon attacking fire attument grandmaster middle consume the might for damage and gain it right now if this means anything
Arguably thief has a very simple setup in order to get high survivability (invigorating precision and heal signet), and war is generally very very tanky. Ele has the highest dps of the 3 classes though
i just use the same setup as vipers but instead of vipers i just use trailblazer for open world and just take stone resonance This setup is more if you want to solo raid bosses and legendary bounties
I do think that you can do anything you want to in full dps gear even on weaver - all of the ele vids on my channel have been done with full vipers. The build suggested here takes a more laid back approach though as it is super tanky. Your choice on whether you want to kill stuff faster but risk dying because of it, or kill stuff a bit slower but safer as a trade-off!
@@Roulhalt If you want a laid back approach, that's tempest scepter/warhorn. Really? I thought you use something else on the cairn solo you did ages ago since you had 18k health, unless you took the bottom trait that gives health and a few tanky pieces . Is still a nice build for that that think ele is that squishy and want to play it

haha yea, mic war ein bisschen kompliziert. Jedes mal wenn ich es lauter gemacht hab als diese Einstellung hat sony vegas störgeräusche erzeugt. Wenn ich das nochmal mache werde ich mir das nochmal etwas anschauen.
Das build ist 10/10 in solo szenarios, sobald du in groups spielst ist es definitiv weniger gut ("weniger optimal aber dafür stirbst du nicht" triffst es eig ziemlich gut). Generell würde ich full dps hybrid weaver in frac pugs empfehlen!

However, I would like to ask how this build compares to the condi PVE weaver build which is based on fire/earth traits (it can be found on metabattle)? Why do you choose arcane over earth? Which one do you recommend?
im planning to craft my first ascended set to play weaver with. And i wonder if i should go for berserker or trailblazer, i want to play fractals to T4 (currently in T2), finish my stories (starting PoF story now) and i want to try raids and strikes later on. Which set will suit best for me? I assume i will craft more sets later on or even legendaries. Any advice will be helpful :) btw nice video!!

(I'm mostly new to raids since I don't have anyone to play with and the few times I ran raids were through trainings I found here and there).
Also, would it be possible to get a guide from you on raid weaver rotation, somehow broken down into small bits? I'm having a hard time understanding it fully especially the parts where I have to reset it if I mess it up. Thanks a lot again!
The cairn solo took around 30 minutes, and the agony mechanic does affect you! You just have enough sustain to outheal it.
Not sure if I'll do a raid rotation guide about weaver any time soon, first I'll probably focus on catalyst once eod releases, but I'll keep it in mind.

Wooden potatoes has shared a celestial tempest build for open world that also uses earth trait skill to convert toughness into cond dmg.
I question myself if celestial gear on weaver could work too...
I will definitely try out your superior rune of the undead for more convertion of thoughness :D

Oh well, I won't lie to you, firebrand is significantly stronger than ele right now (might change with EoD). For now, if you enjoy playing firebrand, there is no real reason to swap to ele

Thanks! I don't really feel comfortable with making guides of classes that I haven't played extensively though. I've noticed that some people have done guides on classes they don't fully understand and usually the end result is quite lack luster

@@Roulhalt as a content creator, you can always ask for help with the classes you don’t feel expert at. Just get a few players who main the class that you want to make a video about who are really good on that class and listen to each of them, then analyze the answers and builds and make your own decisions about what you think is best.
What stat set or build would recommend for Catalyst? Would it be Celestial or something like Trailblazer?
I am trying to make my first ascended set for Elementalist, but I want to make something both Weaver and Catalyst could use since I do not have that many resources
Will have to see if there are any interesting new stat combations or runes. As of now I am learning towards either a power based catalyst, using valkyrie & assassin's, or indeed a full celestial build. I'll definitely investigate and make a build on that once it is out
I think i am going to try this with grieving/berserker stats( as i have for some reason a full exotic set in bank), then cry a bit and change it to trailblaizer.

I know that is a very good build and set up... I just wonder if there is any possibility to have a ranged weapon choice? We have staff and scepter... And I'm afraid both are not the best but which one of these 2 would you recommend for some massive meta events where distance might be needed?
Scepter is the better one of the two by far! If you go scepter, you can use the exact same build. The rotation changes a tiny bit as you don't want to go into air anymore but instead always just swap between earth and fire

I have been using a similar build for my weaver, its quite strong in most fights but in fights where you have to keep distance (like some PoF bounties or the Axe guy frm HoT) not having a range option sucks. What do you suggest doin in fights like those?
Someone already asked a similar question before, I guess I really should have added it to the guide, but scepter is a very strong alternative to sword! You can even use the same gear, but instead of going into air occasionally you only rotate between fire and earth.
I'm running the celestial version because I also play lots in WvW but I've found having a Staff as a second weapon set really helps.
Especially when you know beforehand where you want ranged options(for me defending a objective in wvw)
Would this build also work well for soloing dungeons?
Obvsly best runes are TB, but my ele right now has all celestial gear, is this still viable until I can manage a full set of TB?

Out of pure curiosity which build is better for the average player - Power Weaver or Hybrid Weaver? I checked them on the SC site and felt like asking.
I'd say hybrid weaver tbh. The rota really isn't much harder than power, it easily does higher damage, and it actually has better survivability, so win/win/win right?

small question about the traits : 3:38 "this trait is fantastic [...] 3 block and a stun break"
I heard a lot of people say that's this trait/spell is amazing but in PvE isn't it a really lackluster thing ? The stunbreak is kinda irrelevant imo and 3 situationnal block on a 60s cd is imo pretty terrible.
My point being : Shouldn't it be more of a "the other trait aren't great either anyways, so let's go with that ?" I just don't understand the hype behind it, if it's justified I would appreciate some guidance about it. :(
Hm welll, I guess I see why "fantastic" was a bit of an overreaction in hindsight. Getting free blocks sub 50% still is pretty nice though considering that being sub 50 health usually means that things are starting to get scary
@@Roulhalt I guess it's okay, I was just curious because everyone I know who play elem pretty much advise to take this trait or the spell directly in PvE when I think it's just... kinda okay. The stunbreak being in use ONLY if the hit who put you at -50% is also a stun (which imo is really rare)

Arguably thief has a very simple setup in order to get high survivability (invigorating precision and heal signet), and war is generally very very tanky. Ele has the highest dps of the 3 classes though

i just use the same setup as vipers but instead of vipers i just use trailblazer for open world and just take stone resonance
This setup is more if you want to solo raid bosses and legendary bounties
I do think that you can do anything you want to in full dps gear even on weaver - all of the ele vids on my channel have been done with full vipers. The build suggested here takes a more laid back approach though as it is super tanky. Your choice on whether you want to kill stuff faster but risk dying because of it, or kill stuff a bit slower but safer as a trade-off!
@@Roulhalt If you want a laid back approach, that's tempest scepter/warhorn. Really? I thought you use something else on the cairn solo you did ages ago since you had 18k health, unless you took the bottom trait that gives health and a few tanky pieces .
