  • Here we see the brand-new R211 Subway Cars being tested on the Sea Beach Line to test the level of EMI (Electro-Magnetic Interference) that the cars emit. This is important in order to ensure that the train will not interfere with other electrical components in the subway system and in use by riders on the train. This video is a comprehensive look at the train as it traverses the Sea Beach Line's middle track. Enjoy!

They’re gonna feel kinda claustrophobic inside too, especially when it’s packed. I’m fine with expanding the doors but I wish they made them go in between the window panes or put them on the outside like the tube does. I hope the 262s do that, these look weird. Everything else about them looks great though.

Nice. A question for you. I have seen some of your scrapping old R42 and other train styles. Do you think with all of your information and understanding, you could create an interesting video showing how much a scrapped R42 is worth on the scrapped metal market? Like an view of a complete car then exploded views of its construction pointing out the value of metal in it. Would be interesting considering as of today - March 14th 2022 average scrap prices are: Copper $3.50 lb, Steel $250.00 ton, Stainless steel $0.75 lb, Aluminum $0.50 lb and cast iron $200.00 ton. How much weight is in an old R42? I bet you could find out. Possibly get someone to donate their animation/powerpoint skills to do it. Who knows, maybe it would lead to the MTA re-scrapping the metal in old subway cars and add to the their bottom line after we see how much value is in "recycling" old subway cars. A bit more ecologically cognizant. " The metal in that old scrapped car might be in the metal in your new one. Looks good.

Gotta make sure no stone is left unturned when it comes to testing the R211s. Wouldn't want to risk the debacle with R179s all over again (thankfully the 179s have been holding up since then).
I still can't get the thought out of my head the R211s are basically the R40 of NTTs--not so much because R40 storm doors but from how their design basically subverts the design template of its predecessors just like the R40 did by being the first design to not adhere to the R16 template. The day the 211s are ready for regular service is going to be glorious!

Imagine how cool it would be if MTA had a big idea, like putting this in passenger service, instead of rolling them back and forth endlessly. Blah blah testing blah.

Better these Trains be tested this long than to Just throw It in service Like The R179's Remember Doors were opening while the train was moving and There was even a point where The R179 Decoupled in the middle of the tunnel So to me I think they're Just not Risking it

And where in the world is this ? Australia? USA? Canada? Must be somewhere barbaric (the Colonies ?), as these new units are still using pre 1960 3rd rail metal skates not carbon brushes. So 3rd rails get worn out quicker (money wasting), and its more reliable to use carbon brush shoes (better conductivity, and less interference !), and are also quicker, cheaper and easier to replace than the 3rd rails !!!!!!
