- This is a rather nice Sony SLHF100ES with some common issues that these machines all seem to be having these days. You may know from other videos that I'm not so much of a fan of the HF100 due to various reliability issues and niggly faults that these seem to suffer with but I've done enough of them now to know where the weak points are, what to look for and what needs doing to make these machines reliable.
Sorry for the longer than maybe it should be section on the Servisol product - not sponsored or anything but I know a lot of techies don't like their products, partly due to them causing damage and I guess this is no different on the wrong type of print/ casing.
Hope you enjoyed this video and lots more to come too.
Please do subscribe - it really helps boost the channel.

i love your beta vcr videos
Thank you very much - really is appreciated.
Another excellent video, thanks so much.
Very nice video thanks and you have just helped me get an old one going again...and yes if you see a Sanyo caps in any of the Sony Videos change it! xxx
That's great to hear. The later Sanyo caps found in Sony machines are much more reliable but still worth checking!
any clear video showing how to clean betamax heads? have several VCRs and used to clean them up, but no luck with BETAs
Hello, very nice repair video. Which cleaner do you use for cleaning the components and boards? Isopropanol?
To be honest I just use a brush. I don't like using any chemicals on the PCBs if I can help it to protect the varnish.
What is the solution to the middle stained folding of the first video you showed?
Thank you so much for the question. If you watch the whole video it does explain how to fix this but I do have to say there are several things that can cause poor servo lock on these machines but check the servo board for bad capacitors and any 'browning' of the board underneath any of them - a true tale-tale sign they are leaking. Hope this helps.
@@MrBetaByte Thank you for your knowledge and help.
hi that 99 video posted a video about the beta formats and he run down the VHS format and now bad the format is
he did say the cost of the last beta decks the one with the 3 boys at the start of the video'
i will say there still alot of betacam on here i just had a betacam 1800 uvw that was not listed right
some times i pick one up thanks for showing the head tester i know they were a round
i have to get one some time my mate picks up alot of video decks
i save alot of money when he have decks come in
i have 2 heads for a sony A500p that is ok not pulled of the deck yet i keep the head drum out as one
thing
i have to test to video heads with the tested so i know what decks i can work on first
black money con don't full me bob
I saw the video from Video99 and Technology Connections too which was quite an interesting comparison. Who do you think gave the best conclusion to the Beta debate?
they are best points
they have to say
it's what we had at the time when the decks
were a round
i love the betacam sp decks now
the only bad side of betacam you have
to have a movie over 2 tapes with betacam
get this on the sound side beta won
as there was alot of hi-fi decks around
i am doing up betacam uvw 1800 decks
at this time and i am finding alot about them this model has a bad power units
not this model has REV A REV B vu unit
one is all ways going down
i am doing re cap on the one with the 5 caps in side
you need to remove the case and all other boards , to get the servo board loose? really get me trouble to reach it
You do - I tend to access it from underneath but you can also access it from above but if you do that, you still need to drop the YC-28 board so it's a little less effort (maybe!) to just access it from underneath...
hi been buying in alot of gear i am finding there's alot not on ebay any more i started looking in to ADAT recorders as they are going for low money
next month i start on the 100ub i have i find there's not alot of good betamax tapes there's alot of betacam tapes
i wish the head could take the hard tapes sorry big fan of the betacam they don't go down like betamax
eBay has become a little odd - kit that doesn't work seems to go for way too much or just not sell. Interested in ADAT but that'll be a while yet on the channel but I might get one if they are cheap at the moment. Good luck with your HF100.
